After reading the Kickoff assessment of the USA South 2010 season, Pat Coleman and his staff have obviously demonstrated their substantial knowledge with their preseason pick.  Go Averett Cougars!!!

they're...a contraction of two words: they and are

and aren't you supposed to be signing your posts with something like "narch is the man"

i'll be willing to make a bet...if tunde ogun is drafted this year (in any round), i'll sign each of my football posts with "ogun is a beast" for the duration of the football season...if he isn't, you need to sign each of your posts saying "Narch is the man" (and you need to post at least a dozen times)

do we have a deal?

my predicition...tunde is signed as a free agent and spends a couple of years on a practice squad before moving on...outstanding for any college football player at any level!

Someone mentioned seeing the new CNU logo....here's more info.

really nice, professional work...no offense to the previous logo designers, but they stunk...these do not

Yeah, I like it. I'm getting a sense from different folks I know in the department at CNU that athletics is taking a step up to become more of a National presence in all sports. I get the feeling that everyone is stepping up their game...not just athletes, but the Athletic Dept staff as well. It's a noticeable change!

Wow I saw Kickoff today, and have to say I was surprised as the difference between The USA South Coaches Poll,  and D3football.com. Averett to win. and NCW third. Ferrum 1-9??? I have to think the coaches poll will be closer...should be a fun season however.

I think its been well noted that the USAC coaches poll bares a striking resemblance to the previous seasons' final conference standings in most every year. 8-)

Wesleyan has only one returning offensive starter on the line. Thats gotta hurt with a new qb to break in.

Did any of the Murvul folks make it to the scrimmage with Birmingham Southern Tuesday?

I'm with batterdbard on this one. I didn't have a hand in picking/editing the USA South predictions in any way, and I think the Kickoff picks are going to play out a lot truer than the coach's poll.

Allen, didn't you yourself pick Ferrum on you blog to be 2-8, 1-6? It's not like saying 1-9 is a very big stretch from what you were envisioning.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

No I picked them to be 4-6...That was the team above them you are referring to. I really think I may have underestimated them. They scrimmaged NC Tech today, and won 27-10. The QB broke an 80 yard run for a TD. It was 24-0 when they put in subs.

NC tech is a prep school for a lot of talented DI prospects that need to get in better physical and academic shape...They are not usually short of talent. I know it was just a scrimmage, but it is a good sign.

Here were the picks I posted on my blog:

My apologies for misreading the blog.  :-[

Bottom line, though, Ferrum replaces half of its starters (second lowest # of returnees in the conference) from a team that went .500 last season. That can't bode well, which is sad to say because it will be disappointing if coach has to end his career there on too sour of a note.

Your not the only one to read it that way...I think I will lay it out differently next year. :)

You make a good point...I just hope they are at least no worse than last year.

1 week away.

Went to pickup tickets last night at CNU. They have a nice event. Go pickup tickets, watch part of practice. Listen to a few words from the coach. Mingle with players and coaches. Then EAT - brought up BBQ from North Carolina. Bill's from Wilson, NC. Great food!

CNU has a tough first 4 weeks. At home against #3 Wesley, then on the road for 3 games. Don't return for a home game until October.
