yep, it got ugly. 54-3.

Might need to swap Ferrum and MC in the preseason predictions.

cnu85, thanks for the hospitality today.  the captains should be proud of the effort today.  they fell behind early and did not quit.  there are plenty of players who want to make plays and they should do well in the league.  good luck next week against salisbury.

Anytime! It was fun. Except for the score. Heard on post game that CNU coach went to Wesley bench to talk to starting qb to see how he was.....kid said probably messed up ACL. Bad news. But with backup QB for Wesley didn't seem like the team missed a step!

I am sure that 99 yd scoring drive for The Pride is probably the longest in school history.  Nice Drive!!

cnu85, hurt knee 2 years ago only dinged it last year.  probably not good.  as i told you, they have to tweek the o and they should be fine.  defense is not going to give up much so they wont have to score much.

Yes, that was a surprising outcome. Huntingdon's defense did a really good job of not letting MC's two freshman QB's get comfortable with what they were doing. Our offense was pretty shaky early and gave Maryville several chances to put points on the board in the 1st quarter but HC's defense did a great job of holding MC to just a field goal before our offense finally got things straightened out.

Went out to Ferrum, and saw one heck of a game- Scoreless through three quarters, Ferrum fell in double OT 23-17. Defense looked good for Ferrum, but sort of wore down a bit. Jennings is one fast back. Had over 200 yards.
Mayo had a great game scoring 2 TD, and running for over 100 yards.

Overall, I think Ferrum played well. Some things that could have gone better, FG's were 1 of 3, and a receiver dropped a pass wide open in the end zone. Overall I think they have a lot of room to be optimistic.

Greensboro is the only winner of the USA-South teams today.  Will it be a down year for USA-South football like basketball was last winter?

Except for Averett, nobody scored over 18pts today.

Looks like ODAC football will be a tough conference to contend with.

Greensboro (17) Guilford (15)
Catholic (16) Shenandoah (13)
NC Wesleyan (7) Salisbury (13)
Randolph Macon (54) Methodist (14)
Wesley (34) CNU (6)
Hampden-Sydney (45) Averett (30)
Emory & Henry (23) Ferrum (17) 2OT
Maryville (3) Huntingdon (54)

My Bishops fell, but we had our opportunity to pull it out in the last 2 minutes.  Young offense should grow from the experience. Contrats to the Sea Hawks :)
The only easy day was yesterday

Sorry I missed you yesterday!  If I could get off the camera, I would have tried to seek out your hand!  I guess CNU returned last year's favor with the injuries to the QB's.  Fate has a sick sense of humor, I guess.  Good luck this season!

Allen, I was at the game yesterday and I think that you should be as proud of your Panthers as I am my Waspers. I got to the game late. There was some kind of festival/flea market going on in Hillsville. It took about 1.5 hrs to get through the mess. I don't know why the Panthers were picked in the bottom half of the Conference. Mayo, and the running back (I can't remember his name) present multiple threats. Either is capable of breaking one. Mayo can sling it a mile. The speed on your D was amazing. It was a cleanly played game with great sportsmanship. Good things are coming your way.! WM

WM-
Thanks for the kind words toward FC...They are pretty strong, but have issues that can improve. Mayo can throw it, but the timing, and accuracy need to improve...and they will.  I was happy overall with the Ferrum D, even though, Jennings still gave us fits....I had never seen him play.....The man can really turn on the after burners.

The back I think you were talking about was 37...Harris. He is really good.
Cant leave out special teams. Punt to the two yard line, blocked FG, and a record tying 47 yard FG. Overall I was pleased, I think they will get better.

Good luck to you guys-

Ferrum was my upset special. Damn Panthers. Looks like they will be good after all

I have them at 4-6...That may be pessimistic...They have a really good core group, and I think time will help them. They have plenty of running backs, even without M. Vann. Their secondary looked better to me, but still gave up 145 yards passing. They did get an int., and did not give up a TD through the air.
Entire D Line is back...They are strong....may not have stopped Jennings like they wanted, but that had more to do with his ability, rather than the defense.
If Mayo stays healthy, look for him to really be a factor...Reminds me of Jermaine Pitts.
I am cautiously optimistic  ;D

Last year I was at game against GC.  How many returning starters do they have? Even if they only have 10 players returning, they should have a solid year. They were a solid group last year. 6-4 is realistic.

abnrgr

6-4. Sometimes legacy of knowing your school has been a pretty tough customer year end year out will give you an extra win. Pride helps too. I know from experience if you beat them or lose to them; they will hit you. That's what you got to look forward to.

Getting hit damn hard. At 54 I cannot hit myself hard.  ;)
