Averett had a play selected as on of the Top 5 plays of the week by DIII football.  It's on the website.

And that 6-18 included 3-0 vs Guilford. Ouch!

Maybe this weekend will be SU's 1st win of the sesaon to end their 13 game losing streak.

Safety, Larry Gibbs said the Shenandoah's secondary is "licking our chops" heading into Saturday's game at Maryville.

Scots freshman quarterback Dustin Williams completes less than half his passes, has thrown for 502 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Backup quarterback Zach Dowdy, who has 20 passing attempts this season, is also a freshman. Maryville's pass offense and pass efficiency rank worst in the USA South.

"Anytime you see a freshman quarterback, or a first-year starter in general, that makes you real excited," Gibbs said.

"licking our chops"

There was saying on every mission we went on "don't get cocky.. Cocky gets you kilt". Usually cocky means you have had success somewhere along the line

Lets win one first Mr. Gibbs. They may smite the freshman QB but lets smite him first.

Freshman Quarterbacks can often surprise you :)

No player that is on a team on any level and has only won 4 games in the last 3 seasons should never say a statement like that.

Need a little help from some CNU faithful. Seems there is a rumor circulating at AU that tickets may not be available at the gate Saturday? Its sold out? Any truth to this, got about 20 people coming over from the Beach tommorrow to watch the game and dont want them making the drive if they cant get in. Sounds like a CNU plot to me....lol  Joking aside, is this even possible.

Thanks

The one that yourself, abnrgr and USA-South_Fan were referring to by Larry Gibbs.

i don't normally have a rooting interest in games that don't directly affect the monarchs, and i could care less who wins the m'ville vs. su game, but i'm rooting for "karma" this weekend...i hope that m'ville's freshman qb torches young mr. gibbs at least once

su players should not be "licking their chops" about anybody...as uncle jessie pointed out, they haven't exactly been world-beaters over the last few years

abnrgr

I don't care who wins either as Narch so eloquently stated. I just laugh when I hear people talking smack when there is no back up to that smack.

But then again I cannot remember talking smack...unless I was pulling a Ferrum Panther off me.  ;)

I seriously doubt this is possible.  Just bring a lawn chair or a blanket!

I stand by my quote, Freshman Quarterbacks can often surprise you.  Sure, they may be prone to make "Freshman Mistakes",, but some  perform very well on the field. Sometimes you have to weigh the athletic ability above experience, especially if experience does not produce. :)

AU Pop - Below is the press release on CNU Athletics website this afternoon.  This is Family Weekend at CNU which usually results in the largest football crowd of the season with events prior to the game for parents, etc.  Tickets are sold to all weekend events (including the game) in advance meaning fewer are available on Saturday for walk-up sales.
