Ryan- When is the D3 Senior Classic?...At Salem correct?

The evening of Friday, Dec. 3. Yes, in Salem. I think the organizers' hope to try out a Friday night game as a precursor to some year actually holding it the evening before the Stagg Bowl.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Good luck to the 14 USA-South players playing in the D3 Senior Classic in Salem on Friday.  MC's Tony Ierulli and staff will be coaching the South team.

Associate Head Coach David Harper was today named the 6th Head Coach in Ferrum College's 56 year football history! Harper replaces Dave Davis who retired at the end of the season.

Well they stayed at home did they not. He knows the coaching offices.  :)

I cannot imagine Ferrum being anymore defense oriented than they have been over the years. I like the comment "understand what wearing a black helmet".

Congrats to Coach Harper and a very good decision by Ferrum.  Many D-3 schools are very unique in many areas and sometimes it is best to "keep it in the family" because they have a good understanding what works and doesn't work at that institution.  Ferrum has been a solid program for many years and part of that reason is Coach Harper and the remaining assistant coaches.  Good luck......

Coach Harper is an excellent choice,...and I believe the best choice. There are things that he will try to make better, but interestingly enough, there is still a coach vacancy on the staff to fill. Here is an article with the Roanoke Times and World News.

Ferrum football is on the upswing...it may not be this coming season, or not even the next, but look for the mediocrity to end, and expect them to be a viable contender once again. I really think that if you can't get Hank Norton walking the sidelines again, Harper is the next best scenario.

Go Panthers!

One of the best things about D3 Football is that everyone has a shot at the National Championship. Or do they? Maybe I should rephrase that to be "Everyone has a shot at the National Championship Semi/quarter finals". Six years running we have the same 2 teams in the final game. Anyone else ready to see an upstart program go all the way? (or a different established program for that matter)

I bet the purple team wins this year.
'02, '03, '04, '06...    4 years, 4 championships...

Yep....Purple by 4

Can you imagine having 11 national campionships. Or even one. LOL
