Going with recent USAC history out of conference and how the entire conference has struggled I thought having an opening game at a top 20 was a sure fire loss for CNU. Not trying to talk bad about them, or take anything away, but numbers don't lie.  Most people, regardless of division, would have favored a 16 ranked team over a 58th ranked team in the first game of the year.  Great win for the Captains and I hope they, and the rest of the conference, win out OOC. This bull crap of starting week 4 with under .500 teams is bad.

CNU is now 3-10 on opening day because of scheduling as tough as they can (although, I'm sure Shenandoah was scheduled for other reasons). Historically CNU non conf games have been brutal with the likes of Salisbury, Rowen, Wesley, UMHB, and Bridgewater back in their ranked days. And now starting to play teams like H-SC. It is fun to watch and good to see how your team stacks up...but CNU's OOC record is sub .500.

And I picked SU to win 34-17. Shows what I know.

just saw week 1 top 25. What a difficult thing to try to figure out. I'm glad I don't vote. While I agree with Salisbury dropping out, and CNU getting votes, I still think H-SC should be getting more votes than CNU. Maybe I just like being the underdog!!

Congratulations to CNU on a great win last week!

I've become accustomed to a somewhat non-partisan approach by the Public Address Announcer at most football games, so I was a bit surprised to hear the Greensboro announcer quite audibly say "Stick 'em, boys!" on a Guilford kick-off return.  Is this sort of "homer" instinct normal for a Public Address Announcer or did he inadvertently have his mic on?  lol

That is great!

Congrats on the win. I don't see how HSC should be getting more votes; CNU beat a ranked team; HSC played a very poor and unranked team. Saturday nights game should be exciting. Good luck. May the best team win.

that's kind of what I'm saying. Over the years CNU has opened up with rough games. For not being a CNU fan and I'm really really really happy and glad they pulled out the win. I want all of our teams to win every OOC games.

Beat a ranked team and you get noticed. D3football guys have done a tremendous job covering CNU this week. The ATN podcast touched on CNU and how academics have impacted the team in recent years. The ATR story by Adam this week was nice as well. I have the pleasure and the honor to not only watch CNU players on Saturday, but I also have had many players in my classes over the years. This year is the same....2 on the team are in my Senior finance class. I see how hard the have to work in my class and how hard they work on the field. They come to class with ice on their shoulders after practice, and sit in my class at night staying focused when they are just beat! Same holds true for the track team members, and softball, and all the other sports athletes that have to stay awake during my boring class!

All d3 student athletes have my utmost respect!

I remember back in the day having to do the same thing in my accounting classes.

In my day, I sat in accounting class with a guy named Sam. We sat in the back, with empty coke cans, and skoal!

Fantastic football game at mu today...the monarchs pulled out a41 - 34 win in a game that was the definition of a shoot out - at the end of the day mu had more play makers.- reber threw for 318 w 3 tads (1 int) and rushed for another 115, including a 74 td that was spectacular...he made some great throws and the monarch receivers made some spectacular catches - the guilford qb is very good...tough kid, good athlete and throws a great short to intermediate ball...his receivers let him down with a number of drops - the gcq rb had a great night, going for 172

Atmosphere was great, day was beautiful and mu got a win...only thing that could have made it better is if I had met up w hasanova :)

Congrats to the Captains on another great win. I'm not sure if they've ever started off 2-0 on any season since the program began. CNU85 might be able to shed some light on that subject. 17-7 win over HSC with Shenandoah next weekend and a chance to start 3-0 heading into conference play. I like the way this season is beginning.

First time ever 2-0

Without referring to the trusty CNU media guide, I thought my hunch was correct. A thousand thank you's Mr. Finance man  :)

Anytime. Of course it is easy to figure out when CNU is 3-10 on opening day. The only other possible year was the win against waynesburg to start the season. I had to look that up. The other opening day win was in 2007 against Rowan. I was in the radio booth that day calling the game. Then the following week I flew down to UMHB and I remembered that outcome.

I remember that game with you calling with Franky T. I didn't see the 3-10 stat in your post until after I posted initially and inserted mouth in foot. LOL. I think I may have to hit up my contact for tickets to next weekend's game. I know the place should be a zoo with it being family weekend and all. What was the crown like tonight?
