Wow I just looked at the box. Talk to me about the CNU secondary with 5 picks. I'm still staggering at the 72 passing attempts by the HSC QB.

Anytime. Of course it is easy to figure out when CNU is 3-10 on opening day. The only other possible year was the win against waynesburg to start the season. I had to look that up. The other opening day win was in 2007 against Rowan. I was in the radio booth that day calling the game. Then the following week I flew down to UMHB and I remembered that outcome.

I remember that game with you calling with Franky T. I didn't see the 3-10 stat in your post until after I posted initially and inserted mouth in foot. LOL. I think I may have to hit up my contact for tickets to next weekend's game. I know the place should be a zoo with it being family weekend and all. What was the crown like tonight?

Scratch that CNU85, I just read your post on the ODAC board and just saw the box. Officially listed at 6675, that's a helluva lot of people to pack POMOCO!! That's awesome to hear!

72 passes, but longest was 22. Averaged 8.1 per completion. HSC had 14 possessions. 8 turnovers. Can't win that way. 45-72. Thats 27 incompletions. Actually 22, 5 were caught by CNU. A lot of dropped balls and also poorly thrown balls.

CNU D held tough. People stepping in and playing huge. Offense looks the most balanced I have ever seen a CNU team.

Nice season opening win on the road for Huntingdon 35-7 over Miss College. Too many penalties and turnovers but stuff that can and should be fixed by next week. The defense looked really strong all around and the offensive line was opening huge holes all night. I haven't seen a box score yet but I think we probably had a big number of rushing yards.
We have a lot of work to do to prepare for a tough Louisiana College next week but hopefully we will be ready.

Go Hawks!

Got to watch the CNU v. H-SC game last night. I was very very impress with CNU defense. CNU defense was stout. Other than the last TD at the end of the game, they eliminated every opportunity that H-SC had. They got off the field when they had to, even some big 4th down plays. However, I think that the offense needs to capitalize on some of the defensive opportunities. Yet, if the defense can keep opponents off the scoreboard, I guess you can be happy with that. In all honesty, I think the defense can dominate, in the last two weeks, they have faced a predominantly running team (after this week) in Salisbury that they kept in check, then turn around and kept a predominantly passing team in check. I personally think CNU is a Top 25 team and should be in there this week. Congrats, Enjoyed the game, good luck the remaining of the season.

Fantastic football game at mu today...the monarchs pulled out a41 - 34 win in a game that was the definition of a shoot out - at the end of the day mu had more play makers.- reber threw for 318 w 3 tads (1 int) and rushed for another 115, including a 74 td that was spectacular...he made some great throws and the monarch receivers made some spectacular catches - the guilford qb is very good...tough kid, good athlete and throws a great short to intermediate ball...his receivers let him down with a number of drops - the gcq rb had a great night, going for 172

Atmosphere was great, day was beautiful and mu got a win...only thing that could have made it better is if I had met up w hasanova :)
Thanks, narch.  I was there - wish I had seen you also.  It was a great game ... and winnable by both squads.  I was very impressed with MU QB Reber and his receivers.  They were the difference.  I think two plays turned the tide for Guilford:  the blocked FG that should have given GC a 13-10 lead that MU ran back deep and turned into a TD just before the half and the inexplicable (to me) on-side kick with a 34-34 tie score and 4:48 to go.  I think GC gave MU great field position and should have taken our chances on defense with a deeper kick.  Sigh.  I do agree with you, however, there were a lot of dropped balls by GC ... otherwise our Sophomore QA Pawlowski played a heady game.  Before he's done, I think he'll be one of our best.   Good luck to the Monarchs the rest of the way.

On another note, I do not think I have ever seen as many students involved in sideline support.  Between the football team, the Lionettes, the cheerleaders, the dance squad and the marching band, there were, what?, maybe twenty students left to simply watch the game from the stands?  :)  Seriously, that sort of support was great and certainly added positively to the atmosphere.

Congrats on the victory and good luck the remainder of the season. Really enjoyed the experience. Hopefully HSC and CNU will continue to schedule each other going forward.

I hope so too! I like the idea of an OOC rival......maybe this will develop into one if we keep playing each other.

I read this article earlier in the week ... really glad he's back and playing well.

CNU85

I read that article as well. The world is crazy! I'm really glad Davis made it out ok and is on the field again. Amazing he was shot four times and recovered. You can tell he is a strong kid...physically and mentally!

Yes, four times is amazing. As he mentioned, not to many people get second chances, even with one bullet. Great Story!

Scots13

Glad to see he's healthy and playing well.  Does anyone know any other developments of the Ferrum player murdered last year? Last I read, one man was arrested.

Hawks and DG, looking at the weather and it looks unfortunate for tomorrow in Montgomery. I'm still planning on going and would like to stop by and say hi again. Hopefully I'll get to see a win this year!
