E&H is for real. I have no idea why they don't get more recognition.
I went to the MC/E&H game and there was not a single second I wasn't scared they might go off and light up the scoreboard.

They're coming off several so-so years, and like most ODAC teams they usually find a way to lose focus and drop a game they shouldn't, but as hasanova said they should get some recognition now. It's pretty hard to ignore a (near) double monkey-stomp.
Statistically, assuming most teams are created equally (probably not), there should be 1/8 of the teams undefeated after week three.  To keep things simple, I'll use 256 as an approximation of the number of teams playing DIII football.  This means about 32 undefeated teams are vying for the Top 25 - plus teams such as St. Thomas, Wesley, Franklin, Wittenberg, Widener and Cal Lutheran who lost head-to-head match-ups with other Top 25 teams or traditional rivals.  In my opinion, that's one reason E&H is not getting "a lot of recognition" so far.  Personally, I don't think the Wasps will be on the national radar unless they start at least 5-0.

I wasn't necessarily referring to the Top 25 as much as I was the South Region at the time. Other than if they were playing UMHB, I'd say it would be a toss up most Saturday afternoon with h2h's against other South teams.

Did I expect them to be as solid as they are this year? No. Honestly I can't stand E&H. But I'm giving credit where credit is due.

Except we don't really know if credit is due. This year E&H started the year 3-0 beating Ferrum, Maryville, and Methodist. Last year E&H started the year 3-0 beating Ferrum, Maryville and Methodist before a very mediocre 3-4 ODAC campaign. In 2011, E&H started the year 3-1 beating Ferrum, Greensboro and Methodist (losing to Virginia-Wise), before going a very mediocre 2-4 in the ODAC. In 2010 E&H started the year 4-0, beating Ferrum, Greensboro, Methodist and Virginia-Wise, before going a sorry 1-5 in the ODAC. In 2009 E&H started the year 4-0, beating Ferrum, Greensboro, NCW, and Methodist, before going 3-3 in the ODAC.

In other words, in the last 4 complete seasons, beating Ferrum, Methodist and another USASC has been E&H's modus operandi, but it hasn't really done them a lick of good when they've had to play ODAC teams.

This year may be different. Certainly instead of just beating the USASC teams, they steamrolled them. But the fact remained, they have gone 13-0 (16-0 counting this year) in the last 4 complete seasons against USASC teams, and then proceeded to go 9-16 against the ODAC.

We will see if this year is different, but for anyone familiar with this history it is somewhat difficult to get real excited right now about E&H rolling over some USASC teams.

i watched the mu/ehc game with someone who has seen almost every mu/ehc game, and he said without question they are better than they've ever been...we'll see if that translates in odac play, but i can tell you i've seen a fair number of mu/ehc games, and they were on another level saturday - they may have played their absolute best possible game and mu may have played as poorly as they've played in a long time (i think both of those might be true), but i've seen enough to say they are legit...unless they go 2-4 in the odac :)

+K for the analysis.

Pat Coleman

Keith and I postulated the same in the Around the Nation podcast this week. E&H could well be better than in previous years but it's hard to tell because they're run through the non-conference schedule before.

I said it a few times as well before in the context of the ODAC's generally unimpressive non conf schedule. It is what it is and we will know more going forward. I will admit I read the columns religiously but rarely listen to the podcast. Can't do it at work and too much to do when I get home!

crazylegs33

While it is not proper for a team to look ahead to the end of the season, I am no longer an active CNU player and can do as I please  ;D

With such a great start out of the blocks and the success of the past 3 seasons, CNU is primed to do something that hasn't been done since year 4 of the program. That is the seniors going 4 years with 4 championships. The first time around, 14 players from the 1st team remained on the 4th championship team. Thus they were annointed "The 14". Since that 1st group, only one other player has won 4 championships in 4 years of play (without ever losing the conf championship). The 15th guy you can figure out. There's some good trivia for you. Haha.

More importantly, 13 players on CNU's current roster have the potential to join that elite group of CNU champions. 4 for 4. Make it happen!
'02, '03, '04, '06...    4 years, 4 championships...

The ODAC board got its dose too, narch.  The seven other teams in the ODAC will get their chance also.  I have to say I was shocked when I saw the EHC,MU score ... and it had to be hard to take for Monarchs fans who came to see two 2-0 teams.

MC 35
MU 26

Another hard fought game in the series. A bunch of shoulda, woulda, coulda's for Maryville. Getting stopped inside the 1 is NOT MC Football. Only thing that irked me about the game. MU never stopped. They will make some noise in the conference this year.

Hawks88

Not much defense played today in Montgomery as the teams combine for over 1300 yds of offense in a 56-35 win for Huntingdon over Ferrum. We will have to play much better on the defensive side to have any kind of chance in Dover next week.
Couldn't have for a more beautiful day for homecoming though.

Go Hawks!

Hawks88

Like you said today, the Hawks have a tough time with option O's when run well, and the kid from Ferrum could run it perty good. Great to see yall, stay safe and Lord willing we will see yall in on Sept 19 in LaGrange.

The Hawks OL play has been outstanding this year, and was again today.

We need to play D like we did the first 2 games if we got a chance in Delaware.

The folk we met from Va were all very nice folk, i wish them a safe journey back  home.

It was good to see a bunch of the boy's (son) old team mates ( in particular a lurker on this board....former OL hero Garrison)

stay safe & keep the faith
