why didn't the clock stop there? not that it would have mattered, but the huntingdon qb clearly went out of bounds...they should have had 13 seconds left there...is there a clock rule i'm not aware of?
I think he got hit and went backwards to go out so his forward progress was in bounds.
hmm...i'm not displeased with the call :), but looked like he stepped out on my small screen

maryville took care of business...the only hope for the monarchs is that panther guy is right and maryville's leading tackler is ineligible :)

congrats to the scots for their ncaa birth...
Yep, congrats to the Scots. All we can do now is try to put a little damper on their party next week and help get Methodist part of the trophy.

Go Hawks!

I can't tell you how happy I am the MC played MU early in the year and after their loss to E&H. I think if we would have played them later in the year like around week 6 or 7, it may have been a different outcome.

If I had a vote, my front runner for Coach of the Year would be Goss going into the last week.

Ummm...8-0 TLU just lost to a 4-5 Hardin-Simmons 73-44.

TLU's out of the playoff race, so Maryville to UMHB?

Congrats to the Fighting Scots... If TLU doesn't make the playoffs, I think the ODAC champ should be the team that gets shipped to Texas. Again, happy to see my Alma mater receive a playoff bid.

That is somewhat likely. Maryville is much more likely to get shipped to an undefeated Millsaps as it would not require a flight. Millsaps squeaked out a win today. One more will probably guarantee them a host game. Maryville would be the most logical opponent by known criteria in maybe a 3-6 matchup or a 4-5. There are a lot of teams that could get shipped to UMHB if TLU doesn't make the field and the ODAC champ could easily end up in Alliance, in Baltimore, or even facing a team like Wittenberg. Since the brackets are not strictly regional, the options are plentiful in where to send a 6/7/8 type seed. I don't think anyone foresaw W&L going to Hobart last year.

Millsaps plays at Rhodes next week. I'd think that would be a toss up game.

DG, sorry, buddy. We'll have to get together some other time for those cokes. Not making the trip next week, saving gas for the playoff trip.  :o

i knew reber was having a good day while watching the game, but until i saw the box score, i didn't realize just how good....

20-28 for 292 yards and 5 td's, 18 carries for 126 yards - 418 yards for the nation's leader in total yards

i think that this performance by the monarch signal caller may have cemented him as the offensive player of the year in the conference, and perhaps even a shot at all-region recognition

narch

lagrange with just 10 points again today...20 points in 2 weeks - maybe coach mumme can't be the offensive genius and head coach at once

DGPugh

Long day working (just got in)...and bad news ...

Congrats to Methodist ... man sounds like they thumped us

Congrats to Murrval (that hurt to say), just hope we can hang with em next week

Scots.... next time at a Murval - Hawks game ... holler , i owe u a cola

Would be a crime if he didn't get all-region honors!

Congrats Narch. Christmas came early for you this year. What a tremendous season for your boys!

It is strange how things shape your mindset. CNU, with a win in the final game, can finish 8-2. That is exactly how I picked them. Every year in which they only won 6 games the next year they win 8. So, I predicted 8-2. That record also ties them for the best regular season record in team history. Yet, not making the playoffs will make it seem like a disappointing season.

I need to change that mindset. 8-2 is a tremendous season. We beat some teams nobody gave us a chance to win. We lost to the conference champs Maryville and an amazing surprise team (to me anyway) Methodist.

But first, gotta beat Ferrum. Or I will be here next week talking about ow 7-3 isn't too shabby.

I would vote For the Methodist coach for COY.

I agree. MU's Goss for COY. Would be a shame if he didn't get it after the "turn around' they had, although you really probably couldn't call it a true turn around. Goss and his boys had 2 rough hiccups then showed everyone why the deserve respect too.

CNU is having a pretty good year too. 7-2, looking for 8-2, with a win over what might be a regional conference champ is nothing to look over.

Max Reber. No brainer for all region.

I believe hell as officially frozen over. MC is ranked 24th in this week's poll. Excuse me while I go have a celebratory scotch and cigar...

But seriously, it is great to have some sort of recognition for this team's hard work and it's approach to the grind every day, but I pray to the good Lord above it doesn't go to their heads and gets them beat next week.

We've tied the second best second in school history at 8-1 with the 1978 team.
Beat HC and move to 9-1 and it'll be the best since 1946's Tangerine/Citrus/Capital One Bowl season.

I think I might go have a few scotch and waters and sing the fight song on the Hill, anyway. I don't think any one would stop me.  ;D

the monarchs still have a lot to play for...a win vs. ncwc this weekend would give them the mythical NC state championship, along with an 8-2 record...a loss puts a bit of a damper on a great season - i hope the boys will come out hungry and ready to play and equal the 2nd best record in school history - jacques alston from ncwc scares the heck out of me...that dude can score from anywhere on the field

on an individual note, i have a question for anyone who might care to answer - i mentioned that i thought reber should get serious consideration for all-region honors...does he have any shot at all-american honors? he stretched what was already an almost 20 yard per game lead in total offense and is likely to finish atop those standings for the season, barring a horrible final game - he is among the national leaders in almost every passing category (yards, completion percentage, td's, efficiency rating, etc.) and has thrown just 6 interceptions on the season - he has also rushed for over 600 yards and 4 td's for a team that will be 7-3 or 8-2

i've never given much thought to all-america consideration for a monarch offensive player, but i think reber should be the first...

and perhaps vaughn cross should be the second...he will likely finish among the top 5 nationally in receiving td's and among the top 10 in most other major receiving categories
