I was at work during the event today, but I watching the archived video now.
Coach Adams....wow. Very impressed. I bet this guy can recruit some guys to Danville.

Hold on to him, Averett. He might prove to be one hell of a hire.
Good to hear....hopefully they can get back to their 2006 form.

I have been out of the loop .... who is supposed to be the power house in the USA Conf. this year and how are they picked (pre season)?

Wow, Maryville must have everyone back on both sides of the ball. This being CNU's last year in the conference, I am sure they will want to go out with a bang and prove something. They are always tuff. Been 4 years since I looked at these teams close, so I can't speak to the rest of the league. I have never seen Huntingdon or LaGrange play so not familiar with them at all. I am just hoping Averett can get out of the basement and be competive this year. Look forward to going there for a night game, and seeing the new field.

Does anyone know when they will start buiding on the new stadium?

If you look at the USAC historically, CNU has a great program and has always been in the run, however many other teams other than CNU have made runs within the conference and have represented the USAC, that it what makes the conference unique, especially as of late, it's improved parity. Now regarding the new comers, Huntingdon is a well respected program, which over the last few years has been a bubble team and very close to making the playoffs, they have played competitively against some good Wesley teams and also beat a good Wittenberg team some years ago and they have a good offense. As for LaGrange, they have been pretty much a sub 500 to 500 team. If I can remember they had a good team back in 08 or 09 that made the playoffs, but got beat really bad by an okay Millsaps team. As for the remaining teams both Maryville and Methodist look good last year and could easily win the conference IMHO.

i honestly think any of the top 5 can win the conference this year...i'm hoping the poll is wrong, but i can't  disagree with this pre-season assessment

CNU85

I think the poll is not going to be too far off when the season ends. My concern is that CNU has a "bye" in week 11.....meaning 10 straight weeks of football with no break....and 2 long trips to very good teams in Huntingdon and Maryville. And they open with Salisbury and a trip to Hampden-Sydney.

There a few things I am interested to see.....one being the new coach that was previously at UVA and Richmond. He will be calling the plays. And as always, I like to see who steps up on the field next...CNU always has a few who step into the starting role and perform well. I hope I get one or two in my class this semester.

CNU's schedule is brutal. That almost couldn't shape up any harder.

Allen C

Ferrum is picked 6th, and while I do not disagree with that, I do feel that Ferrum has taken some serious steps in the off season to show improvement in the coming seasons. Three new assistant coaches, two with solid credentials, and what looks like some really good recruits. That with some returners that will be impact players, and I think Ferrum is going to be more competitive than one may think. That being said, I still think sixth is a logical prediction.....mainly because this conference is getting stronger, and while the top five I agree, have the best chance of seriously competing for the title, The bottom four, can definitely have an affect on those standings.
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!

Yep, CNU's schedule is pretty tough this year, but it will be even worse next season in the NJAC.  While I'm excited about facing better competition more consistently in the new conference, I'm concerned about the lumps CNU may/will take.

indeed! The next few years will really tell who the true CNU fans are!

Swish3

I wonder if the CNU coaches will consider recruiting more of the Maryland/Delaware/Pennsylvania area?

Scots13

I would think at least Pennsylvania. Isn't Coach Kelchner from there?

Yes he is, and went to susquehanna. Problem with recruiting out of state is the out of state tuition cost vs in state and some really good PA schools.

Swish3

Come on, '85, I know you'd be more than willing to personally help w/any tuition deficiency for out of state blue chippers!
