I just helped at lunch. Doled over my annual contribution for the Captains Crew, the Luter Board, and the scholarship I set up in my daughter's name......I'm now broke...again!
;D

I seem to stay broke....one day, maybe I'll be able to contribute enough to the Captains' Crew to access the President's Suite at halftime of the football games.

I did that one year....kinda stuffy up there. Was invited once to watch a complete game.....it was our home loss to LaGrange.

I think the poll is not going to be too far off when the season ends. My concern is that CNU has a "bye" in week 11.....meaning 10 straight weeks of football with no break....and 2 long trips to very good teams in Huntingdon and Maryville. And they open with Salisbury and a trip to Hampden-Sydney.

There a few things I am interested to see.....one being the new coach that was previously at UVA and Richmond. He will be calling the plays. And as always, I like to see who steps up on the field next...CNU always has a few who step into the starting role and perform well. I hope I get one or two in my class this semester.

Maryville played 6 away games last year, 7 if you count the playoff game at HSC; with trips to Alabama and the 757. Finished 8-3. CNU has a rough schedule, but it can be done.

We mailed in our season ticket form yesterday and I ordered Kickoff a couple of weeks ago. Just figuring out what roads trips we will get to make. Already put in for a Friday off to make the trip to Methodist. We usually try to make a trip every year to somewhere we haven't been before for a game. We've made every trip to Murvul since '07 but since it is the week after Methodist I'm not sure we will be able to pull that off back-to-back weeks.
Can't wait for the season to get started.

Go Hawks!

Nice!! always wondered what happened after his playing time in Austria.

I was a harsh critic back in the day. But must admit, I didn't know him. Apologies to Tunde and his family. Even at my advanced age I make mistakes and learn.

I would think at least Pennsylvania. Isn't Coach Kelchner from there?

CNU doesn't need to recruit from out of state.  It is a public institution that happens to be in one of the best regions for high school football in the nation.  All CNU has to do is take the leftovers from the Hampton, Norfolk State, VTech, and UVA and they will field a great football team every year.

As for LaGrange, they have been pretty much a sub 500 to 500 team. If I can remember they had a good team back in 08 or 09 that made the playoffs, but got beat really bad by an okay Millsaps team.

Did you watch any of the games last year?  LC was 5-3 in conference and one of those losses was when our past HC stepped down during the middle of game week and was replaced by our current head coach.  LC is returning 10 starters on offense (which led the nation in passing) and most of our defensive players with a new DC.

Keep on sleeping on the Panthers...I believe this is going to be a great year.

That's why I'm driving 10 hours after our Friday night game in Portsmouth, VA to Maryville October 3 for MC's homecoming game. It's got the makings for one of those ESPN Classic Instant Classics. LC is going to be in the mix all year and give people fits. Like Methodist if they play defense like they did last year. (Not trying to take a shot at narch's boys, just stating facts.)
