Even though they initially said they will only be targeting players a few years of leaving college, I think they may go after some younger guys that may decide not to attend college. It was also mentioned in the article that they will not be paying those hefty salaries. I think the league stays committed to a good budget and hopefully maintain and last a couple years, you may see young guys opting out to go to college and make $250-$1,000 a week instead of going to college and receiving that same stipend, without having to attend classes and deal with college by-laws.

the ONLY chance this league has of surviving is for the nfl to see it as a viable developmental league...there is no way the nfl sees 17 to 18 year old kids as viable candidates for nfl jobs and there is absolutely no way the nflpa wants to see 17 to 18 year old kids taking a 30 year old, 8 year nfl veteran's job - i give it a less than .01% chance that the league lets anyone play who has not exhausted college eligibility...if this league ever even gets off the ground

I do think you were overestimating the salary costs based on the numbers provided in the story, but I don't disagree that it seems rushed and doomed to fail.

Yeah. Just a mixed message. I was thinking salary per team, not per league.

Is it dropping early in the AM or in the afternoon? If I have to, I'll stay up late to read it. My little cousin is getting the nod at QB in a JV game game tomorrow so I'll be busy after after varsity practice. I can't read and be proud at the same time

The AFL attempted to do this. Used big salaries for some former big name college guys, but the league itself did not equate well to the NFL. The 5 minutes I spent playing in the Arena1 league I was the only guy on the roster who had NOT played in the NFL.

i think that m'ville and huntingdon will be better than kickoff-predicted and i think that the line between the top 5 in this conference is razor thin...should be lots of fun - we're just 10 days away!

Very nicely done! The thing I like about kickoff is that I know a lot of what is going on with CNU football. Then, I read something in Kickoff that I didn't know. It lends to a high level of credibility when I read about other teams. I thoroughly enjoy it! Thanks to everyone on the staff who puts this together each year.

For the Averett faithful that may still follow this board - Mike Dunlevy (former Head Coach) has accepted an Assistant Coach position with Central Washington University in Washington State. I belive this is Division II level. According to the web site he will be coaching Linebackers and Defensive Backs. Good Luck coach Dunlevy.
