LaGrange 34 BSC 28 in OT...go Panthers!

CNU85

CNU loses to Salisbury. It was a weird game. CNU never gave up and played hard until the last play.  Too many mistakes. Special teams were horrible. Defense couldn't stop the option. I thought they had it figured out last year. And coaches need to make sure the team starts hydrating in Wednesday. Cu was cramping every play. SU wasn't. 41-32. Offense impressed me. Passing game was better Thani can remember ever seeing. But then, CNU puts in a backup running QB in second qt. not sure what that was about. Luckily they put Morast back in. He hit some long passes. Was fun to watch. CNU will score some points!!

CNU, fun game to watch.  CNU kept playing, but Salisbury made enough plays to win the game.  Big game next week against Hampden.  Good luck.

CNU85

Thanks Wesleydad. For first time I can remember the CNU offense is ahead of defense. CNU top 2 deep threats had 5 catches each for a total of 215 yds. Very nice to see deep connections. #5 Rudolph almst made another long reception, jumping over a defender, but it fell out when he hit the ground. Looking forward to next week. And it looks like next season we will be seeing more of each other!!

Quick synopsis of the LC/BSC game:

LC had three fumbles and an interception and still managed to win the game.

In other news, Guilford gave the ODAC a 2-1 advantage over the USASouth by dismantling Greensboro 52-0. Ouch.

Guilford played very well, but you could tell Greensboro's in for a long season.

That's a big win for LC to start the year.

What's up with the new unis? Is it me, or is there no red?

I didn't get to see the 4th quarter but you know how it goes, those special teams mistakes will beat you every time. Obviously stuff to fix there. Considering the time from our first score to our last was 42 points in less than two quarters, if we can get that type of output for 60 minutes there shouldn't be to many worries about the offense but we haven't had to worry about offensive output for a long time anyway. On defense, still too many times that we make two good plays but then can't make the stop on third down to get off the field. Overall not too bad for a first game with a lot of new people.
A lot of work to do to get ready for a big one with BSC this week.

You going to make it there Saturday night, DG?

Go Hawks!

What's more shocking?

Averett winning the opening game under their new head coach
or
Greensboro/Guilford score?

It's a toss up for me.

I'd say Averett but it's a close thing. W&L just isn't the team they were a couple years ago, especially on offense. They also haven't won a road opener since the 1960s. Hats off to Averett. They were well prepared for the Generals and forced W&L to chase. That is not something W&L is built to do. Fumbles on the goal line and 10 penalties were just too much for a team with little margin for error this season.
