This Methodist/CNU game is starting off fun to watch.  Plenty of O with little D on the other side to stop them.

I'm watching the CNU MU game. Right now it's 38 to 31 MU. win or lose Reber is a bad ass!  He's limping around with a knee hurting and just torching CNU.

Game is in OT now. The CNU QB has ran for nearly 200 and thrown for 300+. It's been a very fun game to watch.

we get to watch some silly football...one of these defenses needs to make a stop to give their team a win...c'mon monarchs!

narch

gutsy call here......shoulda gone for 2

wesleydad

I concur.  This has been fun to watch.  i disagree on the go for 2.  Do it when you have to.  Both QB's have been real good.

and he does it again...great win for the capts

WOW!  What a way to end the game.  Morast just would not be stopped.  Good win for CNU and tough loss for Methodist.

not whining here, but i thought that was defensive pass interference on the 3rd down play...you get some calls, you don't get others, but that would have been big

the captains are in the driver's seat for the conference championship...the monarchs have to win out and hope the captains lose two

reber was awesome throwing the ball tonight...he's such a gamer

narch

if you had patrick jacobs, rudy rudolph and anthony radke in your fantasy lineup this weekend, you won :)

jacobs - 10 catches, 219 yards, 3 td's
rudolph - 9 catches, 214 yards, 1 td
radke - 7 catches, 110 yards, 3 td's

the qb's were alright, too :)
reber - 35-49, 480 yards, 6 td's; 14 carries, -3 yds
morrast - 16-31, 310 yds, 4 td's, 1 int; 26 carries, 191 yards, 2 td's

morrast's legs have always bothered the monarchs, but he's really matured as a passer, and that made all the difference in this game - if this had been the old marcus morrast, the monarchs would have won going away, but his ability to throw the ball gave the captains the game - if cnu can get the defense turned around (tough to do in this conference...lots of high powered offensive teams), they could be REALLY good

meanwhile, the monarch defense is still waiting to get into pomoco...i think they were locked on the bus or something :)

The way he was limping around was absolutely gusty and yes definitely a gamer. I hope he's alright.

I watched an Appalchian St / Richmond game game in 2007 where QB Armanti Edwards ran for 313, passed for 182 had 4 TD runs and 3 more TDs passing. Morrast was not far off that performance tonight.  Morrast had 310 passing and 191 rushing 4 TDs passing 2 rushing, including the 25 yard game winner.  What a great performance.

Reber threw for 480 yards and 6 TDs. I cannot remember ever watching a game where both QBs did so much. 790 yards passing 10 TDs and 188 rushing and 2 rushing. Morrast did this while cramping up and Reber did this playing on one leg.

Very cool game.

result aside, it was an incredible football game to watch, as long as you don't like defense...i really liked coach goss' initial idea to go for two and i believe if reber's wheels were healthier, he would have even after the time out - even with bad wheels, i think that mu would have converted the 2 pt conversion - patrick jacobs is SO good after the catch, i would have thrown a little bubble to him on the 3 wide side and let him get low and into the end zone - i've always heard that you go for two on the road, one at home

I was at the game. Wow!!!!  I predicted on this board that the team with the ball last would win. Wow!!  Both QBs put on a show. Both were hurting. Morrast in the 4th was taking a knee between plays and even called some plays in the huddle on a knee. CNU coach had to call a timeout once because morrast couldn't get out of the huddle in time. Reber was hobbled. Both were hit hard. Neither could be stopped. Neither would give up. The radio announcer said he didnt think Morrast could walk another 25 yards much less run and break tackles. It was like watching an old Ali/Frazier fight. It really sucked that someone had to lose. Might be the best football game I've ever seen in person.

Now if CNU can get a D going again like last year when they gave up 12.7 per game. 8 returning starters. But lost the entire LB corp.

Back to the QBs. Almost 1,000 yards between them on total offense. Morrast had 501 total yards. I think Reber had 482. 480 in the air. And Rudolph gets 214 yards receiving and wasn't even the top receiver in the game. Crazy!!! Morrast with over 300 passing and almost 200 on the ground. He gets my vote for team of the week.

Like I said, sucks that MU had to get the L in this game. Wow!  What a game!

Time to go read the stats. But get this.....12 TDs by the 2 QBs!!!!!!

No way you go for 2 on that. If he doesn't make it, then the conference title and a playoff spot is possibly over in the 2nd conference game of the year. Go for 1 and the tie and keep playing. Just my opinion.
