I know Narch will disagree with me. But the monarchs just went for 2 at the end of first half. Dumb! That early in game you just took a point off the board. Now dwn by 10, instead of 9. So a TD and FG now ensures only a tie instead of a lead. Too early for that!!
didn't see the game, but i agree with you...you don't chase points in the first half - shoulda gone for2 vs. cnu though...and the hawks loss ends the possibility of a tie with them if mu wins out...gotta hope for a captains loss now AND the monarchs winning out

lagrange's defense gave up 73 to the monarchs

Averett 14      Final

We have kept the streak in tact. This is the 60th year of Ferrum football, and there has never been a season where the team went winless. A win is a win.
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!

Graham for Greensboro looks like he will be dangerous at QB for the next few years. A nice arm!!

now that the hawks have essentially taken themselves out of contention, i guess i have to root for MU to win out and m'ville to win all but the november 15 game @ mu - averett and fc both have enough athletes to make those wins much less than a "sure thing" for the monarchs and m'ville has a tough road to go with ncwc and cnu, along with mu - i like that the scots are at home for ncwc and cnu, though - this should be an exciting 3 week stretch for the conference - i'm hoping that everything falls into place for a november 15 game for all the marbles...lots of football left before that can happen, but i will be the biggest scotsnarchs fan ever for the next two weeks!

We're not out of it yet. All we need is to win out, have NCWC beat Maryville, and have Maryville beat MU and CNU. Then we would have a four way tie, all with two losses. Piece of cake.  ::) And whoever wins that tie-breaker get to go to Mount Union.

Steve

Hello, first time post. Been reading for years. I have a question about how the division is decided. If Methodist and CNU win out, MU would be 8- 2 and CNU 7-3. Both teams would be 7-1 in conference. I assume MU would be champs. Is this Correct.

Swish3

No, it's not....CNU would be the champs based on their head to head win against Methodist.

Steve

Best record does not mean anything. That does not make sense. I could understand going to a tie breaker if two finish with the same record but I would think over record would win . Seem backwards to me.

I think most people would think it was backwards to award your conference title by using non-conference games.

I guess it is different with the NCAA. I guess the NFL looks at it as backwards because the best record wins. Thanks for the info.

Pat Coleman

Right -- but in the NFL there is a finite number of teams and the league makes the schedule, so the schedules are more comparable. For college football, one team could be playing Mount Union non-conference (as N.C. Wesleyan will in a couple years) and the other could be playing Gallaudet.

I did not look at it that way. That makes sense. Thank again for clearing it up.
