mu and m'ville played a pretty classic game today...sorry it ended the way it did for those monarch seniors, especially the last play...mu flagged for excessive celebration after scoring a td with 5 seconds left, then the xp is a 35 yarder pulled left - instead of ot, the monarchs take the loss - i knew reber had some magic left, even though he had a tough day...i just knew he was going to pull that game out, but i guess it would have been too good to be true...tough loss
Man, that's a tough way to end the game.  I've always thought the unsportsmanlike penalty for excessive celebration was a bit silly when you're talking about 18-22 year olds.

I was watching the MU feed and they were up in arms about it too, naturally. But I guess they had a replay monitor and one of the guys said a fan or somebody non-team affiliated ran out on the field. They did say early in the game the ones sitting in that area (scoreboard end zone) were a bunch of recruits and their parents.

Obviously I'm pleased with the outcome of the game, but I know where you are coming from narch. Even if I was on the sideline and we scored like that, I'd be going crazy like the MU kids. Which I actually did one time in the series.

Fayetteville newspaper reported that it was an ex Monarch player that entered the celebration

that makes it worse, in some ways...the game was potentially decided by somebody who isn't even on the team...

disappointing end to a promising season...much work to do for the monarchs, but i'm confident they will be in the  race every year in this conference...despite losing the best qb in conference history, there is little doubt that jordan vann is ready to step in and lead this team - papilion, jacobs and minter will be tough to replace, but one of the advantages of such large numbers is that there is a lot of talent in fayetteville

Vann has eligibility left? I'm guessing transferring from NCWC to ECU to MU played with it a little. I may be wrong, but his freshman year was my sophomore year. I'll have been retired going on 3 years come August and just over half way to AARP.

But Jordan Vann would have been another Reber at NCWC and is more than capable of breaking the MC streak in the series. He beat MC his freshman year..

one year...he played one season at ncwc and two at mu, so there is a year left - i'm sure he was a great intramural qb at ecu, but that doesn't count against his eligibility :)

i've heard his plan is to enter the MU MBA program and play out the final year of eligibility...i believe that's the plan, but we'll see - going from reber to vann would be a perfect scenario for mu...

I was under the impression Vann walked on at ECU as a punter. I guess that's not the case.

I hope the MC/MU game keeps being the last game of the year and if so, we need a trophy for the game. Any thoughts?

i think that was the intention, but apparently he did not make the team at ecu or decided not to play...

i think the trophy could be a holographic barn burning...8 of the last 10 games decided by 1 score, with one of those games that wasn't (last year) being very much in question under 4 minutes and one of those games (2009) going 4 ot's...those classify as barn burners, to me

If Methodist hadn't changed its name to University, you could award the MC Hammer as a trophy ... I envision a Thor-esque hammer nailing the game on the last play with a thunderbolt ... either that or a shadow box with a framed CD with an endless remix of "Can't Touch This ..." and the IRS logo.  It could happen.  :)

cnu85, looks like a favorable draw for your team.  I saw Del Val last week and they are ok.  The offense is good with a bruising running back, but the QB struggled with his passes and hurt them.  The defense is ok, but can be moved on and your QB will be able to do things against them.  I think it will be a good game and you guys have a chance to win it.  Good luck this week.

So if he was a freshman at NCWC in 2010 and played at MU in '13 and '14, was he in school at ECU both of the other years or was he out of school for one of them? If he has been in school continuously the whole time then this spring will be his tenth semester. Ten semesters is all you get.

Scots13

That's where it gets fuzzy. If he skipped a semester then he has the fall semester and is good to go. But what if he went to classes for a month one semester and then, basically, dropped out (for the rest of the semester). Does that count as one of the ten? Don't know. But I'm pretty sure MU has a compliance guy/director that does it full time, or at least I think they do. Why jeopardize the whole season on one guy?

I'll check the methodist website for a compliance director.

Vann is listed as a junior and they have 3 ADs, so I'm sure they are on top of it.
