Being off for Thanksgiving we are hoping to make the trip. There is a group trying to get a fan bus put together that we hope comes through. If not we will have to decide if we want to make that drive ourselves.
Montgomery to Selma to Uniontown to Demopolis to Cuba to I-20 to Abilene and you are there.  Very simple ;).
Abilene? The game is in Belton.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Hawks88 and Ralph mentioned this in the following posts.

My wife and I should be back in town in time for the game.  We will be in Abilene, coincidentally, while we visit some family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope to see a team from Alabama win in November.

To any fans making the trip this weekend, welcome to Belton and Crusader stadium. If you need any ideas for places to eat or sleep, let me know. I'd be happy to help. Looking forward to seeing your team in action. Blessings!

I have a daughter who lives in Alabama.

The natives in Lower Alabama (pronounced lowuh Alabamuh or just "LA") need some education on what is real barbecue.

GillCJ1

I lived in Atlanta for 12 years, and enjoyed a brief stint in Mobile, AL for a seasonal contract job.  They have some good eats (Dreamland comes to mind), but BBQ is a whole different beast out here in TX.  That is one area that has lived up to the hype.

C) GillCJ1- if it aint hawg, it aint BBQ............aint a point in arguing, i'm right
  ;D

D) Be safe if yall head that way, I'm gonna stay home, move some hay, cut some wood, and feed some hawgs that will be used to make REAL BBQ ;)

We hope the Hawks play their best, the Cru are tough and are part of the D-3 E-light  ???

I knew we could get a lively discussion on these boards if I mentioned BBQ.

Pork? Why, we have plenty of "organically grown" "pork" roaming east Texas.

No preservatives, no additives, only natural diet from range grown hogs and what they can rut out of the streams and hollows in east Texas woods...

LOL

Well, it looks like the fan bus fell through so we will be gassing up the car and hitting the road ourselves. This will likely get us into town earlier than the bus would have with more freedom to roam about on our own so we will definitely welcome suggestions for places to have dinner Friday night.

Hawks88,

If you want some real BBQ - Texas style, take in Miller's Smokehouse located on 208 N. Penelope in Belton. Make sure and order some Burnt-ends. Mmm, some kinda good!

Gasoline at the QT off I-20 exit 501 in Terrell TX (State Hwy 34) is selling for $1.439 a gallon.
If you take the Texas Hwy 31 shortcut thru Tyler TX, we have gas about $1.689 range.

Safe travels.
