NCW gets a late score so the final is 38-14. Another slow start on the road but got things cranked up in the 2nd half.

Senior day at home against Lagrange next week. Looking for a strong finish to head into the post season.

Go Hawks!

Trying to check the boxscore for Hungtingdon-NC Wesleyan and that thing is a hot mess. It has the score wrong. It was 38-14. It has NCW making a field goal in the 3rd that Huntingdon made and says we missed one of our extra points but we made all of them. The time of possession adds up to 78:42. The individual stats are all over the place.

I was finally able to get to Fayetteville to watch the Monarchs play this year.  My assumptions from watching online and speaking to people still involved in the program were correct.  The team plays to the level of the competition.  That explains the results of the Huntingdon and Belhaven games and some of the other close wins/losses.  The Monarchs season is complete.  5-5 is very disappointing.  On paper the only losses that will truly hurt are SR LBer Christianson who played an unbelievable game on Saturday night (pick six and a fumble recovery to go along with a bunch of tackles) and the SR WR Praylow who now owns the single season receptions record, single season yardage record, career receptions record, missed the career receiving yardage mark my only a few yards, and the KR yardage record in conference and the team.  There are 3 SR OL but that group did not perform as well as expected and I'm not sure what the reason was.  The QB and RB will be SRs next year, both safetys will be seniors, and there is talent returning in the receiver room.  The line of scrimage on both sides needs to be addressed in the offseason in the form of player development and recruiting.

On a different note on the side of the Greensboro Pride their LBer Max Steel is an absolute animal.  I doubt he will ever get his due credit since the program will unfortunately be in the bottom half of the conference his entire career but that kid can play

Still waiting for someone to fix the box score. There has been one adjustment made. The time of possession now adds up to 84:51.  ::)

Long game.  I would have been very tired just watching that game

It looks like they finally fixed the box score. Though it still has Landon Cotney with 5 tackles. I guess he had a busy day.  :D  I'm sure those belong to Martin Toby who wears #6 on defense.

Hawks take care of business with a dominating performance over Lagrange to win the conference. Good day to get some guys some rest and play a lot of people.
Waiting to see the who and where for next week.

Go Hawks!

Watch out for Maryville next year. Win at Bellhaven bodes well.

If that QB is back I would say watch out for the Scotts the next three years.

Play hard Hawks!
Need to give you your rematch.

According to Hansen we've only got a 2.7% chance of getting through this first one but our guys will damn sure be fighting to get there, D O.C.

Post season awards for the conference were released today.  In a mild upset SR WR/RET Praylow from Methodist won the OPOTY award.  I thought it Cotney's award most all season.  I would like to know how the voting shook out.  Praylow did lead the country in receptions and receiving yards and was second in AP yards per game.  He also was a repeat winner for the SPCPOTY.  FR QB Rollins from Maryville was likely a runaway winner for the OROTY.  Belhaven swept the defensive awards with LB Fordham winning the DPOTY and DL Webb winning DROTY.  I believe it might have been different if Peppers from Huntingdon didn't miss the last three games with the knee injury.  Turk likely swept the coach of the year award.  The breakdown is:

Huntingdon had 12 (13 spots since a WR was a RET)  players selected with 7 1st team and 6 2nd team.  6 came from offence and 5 from defense with 2 spec players
Belhaven had 10 players selected with 8 1st team and 2 2nd team.  3 came from offense and 5 from defense with 2 spec players
Methodist had 9 (10 spots since a WR was a RET) players selected with 4 1st team and 6 2nd team.  4 came from offense and 5 from defense with 1 spec player
Brevard had 5 players selected with 3 1st team and 2 2nd team.  2 came from offense and 2 from defense with 1 spec player
Maryville had 5 players selected with 1 1st team and 4 2nd team.  3 came from offense and 2 from defense
SOVA had 4 players selected with 2 1st team and 2 2nd team.  2 came from offense and 2 from defense
NCWC had 3 players selected with 1 1st team and 2 2nd team.  2 came from offense and 1 from defense
LaGrange had 1 offensive player selected to the second team
Greensboro had 1 offensive player selected to the second team

Congratulations to all of the players that were honored.
