Yeah, I have to agree with you on that one CNUFinest. I do not appreciate any team's coach (regardless of whether I like them or not) who kicks someone else when they are down. I know coming from a fan, apologies do not mean much, but I know disrespect when I see it. Most people at Salisbury do not appreciate a sore winner because it takes the fun out of sportsmanship and makes things personal. While I liked the victory, I certainly did not appreciate the playcalling towards the end of the game. But don't let a few idiots sour you towards a great rivalry between two programs and their fans who respect one another.

Their is no crying in football luv. I was just making fun of the SU fans when they were crying about Bwater beating the crap out of them. I had no problem with SU keeping their starters in the game that was up to them and their coaching. Our starting D was on the field and if your guys are better than ours then so be it. With DJ and Satchell in the game late like that (have you seen Friday Night Lights, Boobie). That would have been a major blow to SU if something bad would have happend to them. But being that they are the leaders of their team Im pretty sure that they had a little say in that decision and that  it was more personal because of last year playoff loss.  The field goal kick at the end was good practice in a game time situation for your kicker and it may pay off in November you never no.

wow - the cnu/ssu game wasn't much of a contest, and that shocks me - i thought the captains had more fight in them - i listened to part of the 3rd quarter and i think bryant threw picks on 3 of 5 pass attempts...ouch (but not as bad as the gc qb today...7 picks vs. m'ville) - ferrum spanked chowan, ncwc got spanked by huntingdon and su wins by 10 - interesting day - monarchs...get ready for ncwc...big game on saturday!

Uncle Jessie

Nice win for the Hornets tonight. Frates had a big game, 150yds and 2 td. The D played a nice game as well. Next week is going to be alot harder for the Hornets. Ferrum looks to be a beast so SU has to have its A game. Over 3,000 fans were at Shentel tonight but as usual at any SU event the crowd thinks they are at a library not at a sporting event  :-\ . Good luck next week Hornets. Now the real season starts.

Sorry CNU, I misunderstood your post. I still stand by what I said though, Salisbury should not have been going for that field goal being up so far.

CNUsfinest-
I agree with you about the field goal...that is great game time experience for the special teams unit which looked like it could use some game time experience...I think there is two ways of looking at the game...if there were less turnovers it would have been closer or...if Salisbury played a complete game including special teams it would have been a much bigger blowout...but as I said on the ACFC board...when you are good teams gun for you and that is what Salisbury was doing...I also don't agree at all with Luv...there was not any degree of bad sportsmanship...it was a gamble to leave starters in the game as it was to take them out...when you are playing another team that is in the Top 25 you can't under estimate their ability to come back...also...during this age in football...come November when the selection committee needs to pick a team as the #1 seed in the South or East you need not only wins but convincing wins against good teams like CNU...if it was the opposite with CNU on top...I would expect the same...in the playoffs it is a different story how you go about winning...anyways...good tough game and maybe we will see you in the playoffs...good luck in league play and hopefully you can run the table...and BTW...don't worry about not playing B'water...you would wax their a$$ anyway

Tough start for my boys.  Efficiency has to be the key to getting better.

Has anyone been able to see Ferrum this year? If so what would you say is the biggest weapon the Panthers have?

There were seven fumbles in today's game, but not from Salisbury.  It looks like the boys held on to the baton today.  Looks like Shenandoah will get a mad CNU team with a weeks rest.  Good Luck  ;D

You know it! I will be the first to congrat Salsbury on a great game. Now dang-it, clue me in next time so I can pick Salisbury in the pick'em! :'( :'(

Good job yesterday Gulls. For those that went to the game what would you say are some of the weakness of CNU this year. What should the fans of SU Hornets expect when they visit CNU in two weeks.

I swear Uncle Jessica for a team that has beaten us 3 out of 4 times it seems like you are really scared about coming to Pomoco. Last time I checked we are 1-2 and Ferrum WHOM YOU PLAY NEXT IS UNDEFEATED. Its funny how you claim to hate us so much but are always worried about what we got and what we are doing. The Captains will be just fine once the young guys find out what it means to be a Captain. I think you should be more worried about only beating power house D3 teams like Catholic and RMC by slim margins. Also, by you worrying so much about us especially when we don't even play this week, further lets me know that you really know CNU has and will always be better than SU.

I've seen Ferrum.  They are the same Ferrum that you always see, however they are healthy at this point---if they had been last season they would have been in a lot better shape.  They are one injury away from being very average again.  They play a lot of freshmen and sophomores on both sides of the ball and they haven't shot themselves in the foot too much.  They will certainly have to continue that trend against a very potent Shenandoah team.  I saw the Hornets' highlights against BC and they will definitely be the best team that Ferrum has seen to this point.  Ferrum can score with almost anyone, but with so much youth on the defensive side the offense may have to carry them.

Blackhats:

Thanks for the first-hand take on Ferrum. It's nice to see things clicking well for them this year, but I really believe that you are on the money when you say that they are one injury away from mediocrity.

I, for one, appreciate your insight.  8)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

AdmiralPapi

Is it just me or does Ferrum have a major injury to one of their major players every year...seems every year just around the time the leaves turn on the mountain at the end of their stadium that someone goes down!

Narch what station are MC's games being broadcast on?  Maybe I can pick it up down in the dub!

SU's defense needs to be clicking on all cylinders Saturday against Ferrum. If Ferrum can stop Frates its going to be along night for the Hornets. They don't have the fire power to get back into the game once they are down late in the game. Last year the Hornets had two great receivers who graduated that Hoffman could go to if they had to pass. If any position that they are the weakest this year it would be WR. Losing Junior Green and Mike McVearry really hurts them. This week should be a close one once again. I just hope the Hornets can keep up with Ferrum's offense or most likely any chance to win the conference is over. One loss in the USAC and your in a deep hole. FIVEMICS, what is your take on Saturdays game?

i think the one injury that blackhats and wclegacy are referring to is pitts - i think he could be the most valuable player to his team in the conference - he runs that offense to perfection

papi - the games will be on 1490, but you're more likely to get them on the web...plus 1490 is bumping 2 of the games to tape delay because they carry atl braves baseball...imagine the braves games getting priority over the monarchs :)

Not much to say about Saturday's game.  I'm not so sure that the WR position is a problem. I've not seen many good passes to them or the TE.  As for Frates, it seems not to matter if he gets much yardage, they just give him the ball that many more times to try to control the ground.  I hope the video clips played for you.  If they load up slow it's because more people are starting to view them.  Once it's loaded just hit the reset icon on the browser and it will play cleanly.  I think I'll try to find the Ferrum games radio broadcast archive and see what's going on down there.  Looks like they play well and maybe better then that.
