It was truely different watching a MC game from the stands, but its always good to see them win. The game was not as close as the score shows. There was just a feeling that MC was in control the whole time( now that maybe because im a former monarch!). For a team that is switching to a more pass style offense, they sure could still milk the clock with the run.

55 - the boys can still tote the rock, can't they - if mc can get the kind of offensive balance they did today for the rest of the season...could be nice - hill has a chance to be pretty special, doesn't he - he's got a gear that few others in this conference have - come find me at the game on saturday if you're there!

abnrgr/mosh - souper bowl this week boys...my prediction is a win by a school with the initials gc

I'm sorry but I have to comment...the admission's guy who does the radio for Shenandoah is clueless.  The play by play guy at least knows that he doesn't know much football, but the other guy just drove me nuts with his insane "analysis" of his observations.

I couldn't make it up to the game, but I was able to hear it on SU's radio link.  Thank you SU for providing such a service, but in your own interest just let the play by play do it by himself.

Sounded as if neither team should be terribly happy about their performance.  No matter...4-0 Black Hats.  Glad to finally have a home game next week.  Good luck SU next week...keep hope alive!!!!

blackhats - you've got some high expectations if you're saying that winning 34-13 at shentel is something that fc should'nt "be terribly happy about" - unless pitts was injured in the win, fc and fc fans should be happy with that w - ferrum is for real and very scary

Well, its going to be a tall mountain to climb for the Hornets now. As bad as the refs were for some calls they did not lose the game for SU. With that out of date ACE-WING they have the Hornets have virtually no offense this year. SU has never been an offensive machine but this year its really showing.  Ferrum shut the running game down big time and it did not help having Frates go down early in the game as well. SU has almost no passing threat. The starting QB for SU was 6-22, 3 INT, for I think 108 YDS. The ridiculous penalties the Hornets are doing the last few weeks also need to stop. I saw one guy slap a Panther in the head. What was that about?? Someone needs to step up and take leadership of this team.
Ferrum good luck to you the rest of the year. I loved that QB you all have. Just when you think he is down he makes a huge play for the Panthers. The Panthers are for real and Pitts is a beast. Man I wish SU had him.
Next week wont be any easy for the Hornets playing CNU. But good luck to you guys.

Wow!!! Its funny how in the first few weeks when SU played cupcakes, Uncle Jessica and SU fans where talking all the trash in the world. Now after two pretty good teams have blasted the girls from Winchester in Shentel, everyone else can see tumble weed blowing over the SU posters. I guess your mind was to much on CNU and not on the team you were actually playing this week. I guess Ferrum really showed that the win from last year was a real fluke. Now its time for you to visit good old Pomoco and hopefully our young Captains can do the same.

blackhats,

i agree with you about the SU radio guy. I've been complaining about him for years. he really is clueless. he has absolutely no idea what's going on between the white lines. he spends most of his time whining about bad calls against SU. SU could get whipped 55-0 by somebody and he would be whining about the refs and providing excuses. If you belived what he says, SU could beat the N.E. Patriots if, if, if, if, an more ifs. Also, his voice reminds me of some of my 14 yr old daughter's friends........ugh!

Looks like FC is fired up this year. Good luck until the CNU game. I hope CNU takes care of bidness next week.

I am quite certain that Davis is not happy with all of the mistakes and extra-curricular actions that took place in the 4th quarter (whether they were initiated by his players or not).  Of course they are happy with the win, but I know that they are well aware that 3 turnovers and 11 penalties will not beat many good teams.  Enter the Cougars for homecoming next week...they will have had two weeks to prepare for the option, so it could be a good one.

Uncle Jessie

I cant understand why Barnes would leave the starting QB, Hoffman in the entire game last night. It clearly was not his night. Barnes should had put in a back up or two late in the game. 1. Simply because it was family night and I'm sure some guys parents would had loved to had seen their kid take a few snaps. 2. Hoffman is the Hornets starter and what if he got hurt? Which he did on the last play of the game. He was on the ground for a while before getting up. 3. Just to give other guys some experience in case they need to make a change later in the season.  I don't understand why you take a chance on your starters getting a major injury so late in the game when the game is out of reach. Im not saying to just give up on the game. But when you have 100 players on a team, when else are the back ups going to get a chance to play?

monarchs win with big plays - hill is off to a really nice start with 396 yards and 5 td's in 3 games...gotta keep him healthy and running well

blackhats - thanks for the explanation - i didn't listen to the game so i was unaware that there were some tempers flaring and that fc had made a number of mistakes...i'd still be VERY happy with that win if i were a panther fan, though, as i'm sure you are - there aren't a lot of undefeated teams left and 4-0 looks pretty good on the panthers -

Mc55....It sure is different to be on the other side of the white lines isn't it.  You going up to anymore games this year?  I'm going to try to make it to HC but who knows what will be going on during that time.
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

cnufan13

Wow, what great analysis of the SU/CNU game. Anyone have anything else that can compete with that high powered insight?

mc55ol

DD, it sure was different, but i am happy they are doing well. I will be there for HC, and i may make it to the home one this weekend.

blackhats

Ferrum was picked fifth this year, Shenandoah second.  Why do we even have preseason polls?  Does that make Ferrum, if they continue on their current pace, overachievers and Shenandoah underachievers?  I don' think so, but unfortunately fans will think so.  People in the know understand that Ferrum would have been pretty good last year with a healthy QB, and Shenadoah would be better this year with more experience in the position.

Scrap the polls and play football, because right now there have been only 4 games played and everyone is talking like Ferrum is surprising everyone.  My guess is that they will not surprise Averett with their two weeks to prepare for Ferrum's aggressive defense and option offense.  I think that it will be a very good game, and I can't wait to see if my Black Hats can continue to "Overachieve."

Good luck to everyone this weekend...I hope that you all overachieve (especially Shenandoah).  I hope that the QB can play this week...remember buddy, they don't give Heisman Awards to scrambling D-III QB's who are losing by three scores with under 5 seconds to go in the game---throw the ball away!!!!

Blackhats,
First of all I would like to say that you are one of the most gracious posters that I have seen. Thank you for the well wishes on the SU QB. Hopefully he will be OK. He had a great year last year..stats... several comeback victories...playoffs...post season honors etc...many variables have changed around him...he works hard as does the whole team and coaching staff. No excuses need to get it done the rest of the way. I agree with you. You guys were a dangerous team last year and much better than the record showed. Good luck!
