CNU Fan

First, let me say way to go CNU Captains. You could have went into Ferrum and just let them roll over you.  CNU still has never had a losing season.  Unlike the team that was picked to finish second in the USA South.

CNU85, you stated the following:

Now that he is a senior and his career is over...Nathan Davis is a very good player, but a hot head and too many times he runs his mouth and does stupid things that cost 15 yards 0 like just now - I would have benched him a few times over the years to get his head straight.

CNU85, I will tell you that the coaches did sit Nathan Davis a few times during his years at CNU because of his hot temper.  His fiery attitude sometimes helped the Captains (especially when they were sleep walking through the Washington and Jefferson game last year), and sometimes it hurt them (In the 15 yarders he got).   He was the first big time WR recruit CNU had and the coaches have always used their best players.  Even though he was punished for his hot temper on the field, he was always one of the hardest workers both on and off the field.

You Captains you
Stop gloating or you will explode :)

I understand the happiness........anytime you beat a Panther. Panthers and Wolverines oh my.....

In the 70s they were in the same conference as JUCO powerhouses......with the Bobcats

Well, I have just returned from a nearly 500 mile ride to see the once unbeaten Panthers take on the Captains. First I want to say congratulation to CNU as they played a great game, and soundly thrashed Ferrum. The grounds crew at FC is very appreciative to the Panther team as they did a great job of fertilizing the field during what I will always refer to as the great debacle.

I became worried before the FC chaplain gave the invocation. Ferrum, after the Senior Day ceremony, sort of seemed lackluster and emotionless. Then I hear this chant coming from the CNU team.  I have no idea what it was, but I knew this was a team flying high, and looking to kick the panthers in the hind parts.

After the coin toss, which was the highlight for Ferrum, Things just spiraled out of control. It boiled down to 3 simple things.

1.FC has virtually no pass defense. This is no surprise to anyone, as all you have to do is look at the seasons stats.

2. Any team with any ability at all will exploit this, and CNU did all day. I mean when the FC defensive back was setting up 8 yds off of the receiver, and would backpeddal before the ball was snapped, then there is a lot of room for gaining passing yds. This was the case much of the time with FC's  # 3, and CNU's # 11

3. Ferrum has never had to come from so far behind, and decided to continue to run the ball.  24-0, and here we are running and running out the clock for CNU >:(  (No passing offense either)

Couple these with about 9 million yards in penalties for Ferrum, and the 99.9% 3rd down conversion rate to 1st down of CNU, and its a wonder they they did not stop the game early for they mercy of the poor Ferrum Faithful.

I will close by saying CNU is a gifted team, and was a class act with the sportsmanship they showed.

So what was that chant anyway?

I have not read any postings yet...I am sure there are many directed at me, and I will edit my logo caption next.

I hope that FC is able to represent the USASAC well, but I think we may be turning our attention to basketball...maybe baseball real soon.

Go Panthers!

BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!

dude, i think you're the one that's got stuff flying over your head - i understand EXACTLY what you're saying, but you don't seem to understand what i'm saying...fans of other schools in this conference generally don't like cnu for a multitude of reasons...they've dominated the conference the last 4 years, they are a public school in a private school conference, a number of the fans and players talk a lot of trash, etc, etc, etc - when cnu loses, these fans find great pleasure in "rubbing salt in the wounds", as you say - it's like when the yankees lose...tons of people are coming out of the woodwork bashing the bombers...why? because they've got it all and they flaunt it - cnu is to the usasac what the yankees are to mlb...get it?  did that one fly low enough to sink in? - personally, i'd LOVE IT if more fans of other teams celebrated monarch losses...that would mean that mc had arrived and had become the team everyone was gunning for

Dude, nothing flew over my head period. Trash talk is trash talk and I can accept that from people and teams that have the right to do so. But in Mosh's case his play as well as the play of his team gives him no right to say anything about CNU in MY book. When you open your mouth about another team you leave yourself open for the comebacks and obviously your little friend couldn't handle them.

I would like to ask a ? Narch. What conference should CNU go to since this is a PRIVATE school conference. Also I don't read the basketball, baseball, etc. etc. boards much but I dont recall teams complaining about CNU in other sports besides football. I also don't recall teams crying about playing the public school Captains in the playoffs either.

Narch since you have been doing a wonderful job of quoting some of my post in the past. Maybe you can go back and find the one where I said that I have also realized why I hated some of the good teams in my conference when I was in high school. Everyone hates the team on top and I loved being hated when I played at CNU. Matter of fact, that was one of my sources of motivation while working out during the off season and it payed off.

Very Good CNU, I knew we would have problems with the Pass.   Monarchs, Your welcome.  A Co-Champion is better than NO-Champion, and it's very nice to see colors other than Blue and White lift that Trophy.   CNU, a better first half of the season, and it could have been you all over again.  The panthers certainly exposed themselves sat, and i'm not sure what happens next week.  But I can promise you, if we do not put some pressure on the QB, it well be ugly.

Now as far as who is the best team representing the USAC.  Get real!  What else can we do!  9-1 speeks for itself.  And unlike DI, this is not a popularity contest.  This div champ is determined by wins and losses.    Ferrum beat MC outright, and all others.(except CNU) Sorry your best players were not on the field, or such and such had a bad game, but oh-well that's football!  Thanks for playing!

personally, i don't think the captains should leave the usasac but, if they did, joining a re-structured cac would make the most sense in my mind - the cac could invite frostburg, wesley, apprentice and cnu to join, then convince cua to join for all sports (instead of all except football, as they are now) and convince gallaudet to make a committment to KEEPING football and you'd have 7 football playing members OR maybe the cac could leave apprentice out of the mix and convince a school like mary wash and/or marymount/goucher/york to add football

to end this subject, i got involved only because i thought you were being INCREDIBLY immature...let me remind everyone of why i even got involved in the first place

Mosh thats really funny considering you would get mashed in a fist fight with me. :D Really do you think I would waste my time with a pathetic individual like yourself. I wouldn't allow you to come to VA and get pimped smacked back to NC just like your football team did every year. "If you got a problem get at me and we will settle this" he actually said "if you have a problem, get up with me and we will settle this" after mentioning how he had some conversations with former players from other schools since he graduated HA HA. The fact that you were a sorry football player on a sorry football team must have really hurt. HA HA I guess I could wear my championship rings in the fight, punch you in the face a few times and put Dixie/USA South champs across your forehead. Then you could really get a taste of being a Dixie/USA South champ.
mosh never mentioned ANYTHING about a fist fight and i felt compelled to step in and let you know how childish, immature and ignorant i thought you were being...you can call that trash talk if you want, but to me, it has no business on this board - if, as you say, you "love being hated", you would respond in a manner that was more diplomatic and intelligent...you know, something like "i've got 4 rings...how many do you have?" - it would have been more effective and i would have NEVER gotten involved in the whole thing

narch

jamnqb - you're right, injuries are part of football and ferrum DID beat mc head-to-head, but i personally think the monarchs would be a better representative for the usasac in the playoffs than ferrum, in part because i'm an mc fan, but also in part because i think they are better than fc when healthy (which they currently are) - mc is much more balanced offensively and a LITTLE better defensively (and i acknowledge that they are just a little better defensively) - if a team like wesley gets up big (a distinct possibility because of the way they throw the ball), ferrum can't score through the air as effectively as mc, and if that same team happens to be big and athletic enough to slow down the option...well, you could have another 44-7 outcome, honestly - the monarchs passed and rushed for over 2000 yards this season...ask any coach, a balanced offense is more difficult to defend - don't get too caught up in 9-1...i GUARANTEE if the monarchs take ssu off the schedule and put chowan on the schedule, they would have finished 9-1 as well - difference is, the monarchs didn't get beat 44-7, at home, against the 4th place team in the conference :)

enough of that...time to throw my green hat away (for the football season, anyway) and don my blackhat - i hope the panthers prove me wrong and get the option game rolling in dover and take home a victory for the usasac!

GO PANTHERS!

Jamnqb10

"the monarchs didn't get beat 44-7, at home, against the 4th place team in the conference"

Stranger things have happened in this league.  How about E&H going 1-9.  You are so right, a balanced offensive unit certainly will help you in the playoffs if you get down 44-7.   But you got to get there first.   Go Panthers!

narch

the only thing strange about ehc going 1-9 is that they got 1 win...they weren't a good football team this year, and truthfully, i didn't expect them to be very good PRIOR to the season (although i thought they would win 3-4 games) - they lost an absolute stud/workhorse rb and brought in a new coaching staff - i think that montgomery will eventually do some things at ehc, but so many people acted like he was going to automatically turn things around...c'mon...it's not like ehc was POORLY coached for the last few decades and montgomery was replacing some scrub...oh, and ehc is in the odac, not the usasac :)

wesley is legit, though - they are balanced offensively running for around 130 per game and throwing for around 280 per game - they are tough against the run, allowing under 90 yards per game and just 2.2 yards per carry, they are really tough at home and they've played a pretty tough schedule, beating a 7-2 depauw and 7-3 averett on the road, and handling 7-3 salisbury and 6-4 frostburg with ease...they do have a similar loss to ferrum, though...a 47-0 blanking at b'port - i understand that game was played in a quagmire, but it's interesting to see and should give ferrum fans some hope

Jamnqb10

That Ferrum/Wesley matchup goes back a long way.  I played them when they were still JUCO.  It's not a fun place to play.  I think after this weekend hope is about all we have.  Lets HOPE that Wesley lays down like ferrum did last week.  NOT LIKELY.   If we are in the game at the start of the 4th.  That means the bone is working and we have a great chance.  If wesley gets up on us by more that 14 then it will likely be a long ride home.

Regardless of the outcome, let me make one thing perfectly clear.  We deserve to be there!

Thanks Narc for all your insight throughout this season.

Finest,

I know when I walked across the field my senior year that a few of your teamates (who talked trash on here never stepped on the field.)  Im not sure if you were one of them...The way you talk though its very possible that you could have been a  backup te (nothing wrong with that buddy, Football isnt for everyone).  Anyways moving on from football, I say your personality dictates the outcome of your life.  Probally going to have some trouble in the redzone...Just like Narch compared the capts to the yankees, im going to compare you to the Great T.0.  Of course without the athletic talent.

GO PANTHERS!
Represent the conf well !

narch

now that the regular season is over, i'm going to try this again - starting with offensive all-conference performers (defensive team takes a bit more research) - naming 1st and 2nd team at each position

qb1 - roncketti, mc - offensive poty
qb2 - pitts, fc

rb1 - wilson, au; mullford, fc
rb2 - hill, mc; hilliard, cnu

hilliard over j. williams based on conference only stats - 2 coaches didn't see williams play this season, so they have little to base selecting him over hilliard on

fb1 - hawkins, fc
fb2 - frates, su

frates will probably get 1st team as a nod to his career, but hawkins put up better numbers in an offense that was infinitely better than the su offense

wr1 - hughley, au; jackson, mvc
wr2 - lowe, gc - freshman oty; davis, cnu

sands, mc is a possibility, especially if they name 3 wr's to the second team (see below) - the coaches may "make up" a position for lowe since he lined up in so many different positions this past year

te1 - silk
te2 - who knows

couldn't find anyone listed as a te who deserved recognition...maybe the 2nd team will have 3 wr's

ol1 - 1 monarch, 2 panthers, 1 cougar, 1 other
ol2 - 1 monarch, 1 panther, 1 cougar, 2 others

despite the fact that cnusfinest is less than impressed with the monarch o-line, they did key one of the most prolific and balanced offenses in the conference/region/country and only allowed 5 sacks on the season - i can't pick individual players because you've really got to see an ol on film or pay CLOSE attention to them during the game to really get a feel for how well they play

anyone want to discuss or make suggestions?

5 sacks is pretty unbeatable even with Rockets legs. That's gotta be a record at MC? Those are GOOD HOGS ;)

j - no soreness toward cnu...i haven't really talked badly about cnu in some time (other than to point out the obvious flaws in the cnu english dept. when reading posts from current and former capts :)) -

p.s. - i'm a huge yankees fan, too, so i can understand what cnu fans feel like when they lose...i simply like to point out that there are AT LEAST 26 reasons to like the yanks ;) -

Narch - you gotta point out the English Dept at GC...come on...have you really looked at some of Mosh's posts? Their, there, nope..got it...they're really bad!

26? I thought the yankees had 27?  Or maybe I was thinking about next year?

weird.....my comments ended up inside the quote below..

as Mosh would say ... "Probally" something I did.
