I never paid attention to the AU schedule. It is tough. Here's a question to debate.....which schedule (1st 3 games) do you think is tougher - AU or CNU

AU - Mt Union, Wesley, Guilford
CNU - Rowan, Mary Hardin Baylor, Salisbury

Anyone notice 3 conference teams got votes in the preseason poll - doesn't mean much....other than I think it's the first time ever???? Or is it?

Wow, both are tough rows to hoe!  Any predictions on AU and CNU's records after three games?  Personally, I don't see either team starting 3-0.

let's quantify that question with d3football.com pre-season rankings
au - #1, #8, NR
cnu - #3, #6, #40

i'd say based on pre-season rankings, cnu plays a slightly tougher schedule, but guilford and salisbury are both wild-cards - let me say this...i'd love to see the monarchs playing EITHER schedule - chowan, ehc and guilford just aren't as exciting as the teams au and cnu are playing...of course, the monarchs could legitimately win all 3 of those games and i don't think cnu or au will have more than 1 win after 3 games, and both could be 0-3

didn't notice it until you pointed it out, but i can't recall 3 usasac teams in the pre-season poll...shows the conference is getting a little more respect...now the teams in the conference need to back it up

It's time!! Finally ! !

The Pride report today.

I would appreciate any updates of any kind from the preseason practices. Wish I could be there, but I can't and I am envious of those that can. I believe there is some real excitement about this season among the players. I would love to hear how the first few practices go and if that is true.

THANKS!!

ROLL PRIDE ! ! !

Team pictures and lunch were yesterday and I was told that Todd Parsons was in uniform. Details are fuzzy but something about the NCAA granting him another year of elig. That might be HUGE!
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

I read today that Greensboro got a new OC . . . anyone know anything about him? What the school said on their website sounded pretty good.

Also, how are the Pride practices looking so far? Last I heard the players were pretty excited about their potential for this year. Anything or anyone standing out?

I did hear they had four new QBs to join the returning senior - five QBs! They're probably attracted by GC's talented skill players - RB, WR, etc. Would greatly appreciate any news . . . .

I'm gonna try to get up there this weekend and hope to see some hitting.

Any comments on their strengths and/or weaknesses this season?

Narch, any reports out of MC camp?  How's that Fayettnam heat treating the freshman.

Back Finally...I have been getting stuff together for GC the past couple of weeks. I still go there and am a RA here.  I have seen the football players.  From the rumors I heard...there are some really good athletes on the team, but that is the information you are going to hear from me, until the season starts.  They brought in a good number of players too.

mc55ol

man.....that Fayetteville heat.....I sure dont miss that!

papi, mc55ol and abnrgr - monarchs just started camp on monday, so nothing earth shattering yet - not much fayetteville heat....yet - 97 degrees and 98% humidity is coming soon, though, i'm sure

good returning #'s and a really good class...lots of BIG boys (ol and dl were recruiting areas of emphasis) - i don't expect too many frosh to play...maybe a few in the dl rotation and MAYBE one or two in the ol rotation, and maybe a lb or 2

it should be an exciting year for the monarchs:

on the defensive side, the entire secondary returns intact and should be a strength, which is important the way teams are chucking the ball around, the inside lb's are among the best in the conference and the dl has some guys that can get after a qb...need to find a run stuffer or two

on the offensive side, most of the line is back, the wr corps is one of the best in the conference (if not the best) and hill and matthews can tote the rock...there is the qb question, though, and it's too early to tell anything in camp...i'll update you when/if i hear something about that position

The Associated Press ran a story today which was carried by the Greensboro News and Record about a serious proposal to turn NC Wesleyan into the 17th NC state supported school to be renamed UNC-Rocky Mount.  It's interesting to note that this northeastern part of the state is underdeveloped economically and there is a slight void in the UNC system in the area with nothing from Raleigh (NCSU) to Elizabeth City (ECSU) and Greenville (ECU).  NCSU and ECU already teach classes on the campus and 1300 students are in continuing education while 900 are traditional age students living on the 200 acre campus.   NCWC has admittedly had some financial troubles in their 50 year history, so maybe this is a way to get and stay in the black.  To cover both sides, there is some opposition (including from UNC System President Bowles and some Methodists), but it does seem to have some serious support, especially in the Rocky Mount business community and, one would guess, within the college itself.

How do you think the USASAC will end up?  What are your predictions?
