GCG - In your opinion - Who do you think looked better at QB?  Both were under 50% completion - was it bad passes, dropped passes or just great defense?

I guess one interception for the night is better than the six we had last year on opening day . . . but I don't know if losing 32-7 is worse than losing 38-13! !

Newbie--In some aspects the both looked good. But, If I had to name a perm. starter I would take Randel Rankins at the helm. But we couldnt really tell which one was better they both will look better in Wk 3 of college football when we play Maryville someone more in our league.

Uncle Jessie...

Per your earlier email to me...

I believe Augustana used the offense, or at least a derivation of the three back system, to rousing success and four Stagg Bowl championships...

CNU and eveyone. I dont know about you but I dont think that the USA South conf. record will get much better this weekend we were like 1-6 for the week. That is not a good sign for our conf.

Just don't become worse than the Centennial board.  Talk about weak.

Thanks Pat. I knew someone had to use it in the Stagg recently and SU had some good success with it as we know in 2003-04. I still wish they would mix it up some. the Ace-Wing is a great system to use when you are up by 10 points to eat up the clock. But In all the years of recent Hornet history the team is not that good at making a comeback when they are down by as many points. You just cant make a comeback and still eat up the clock and expect to win the game at the end. The team is so predictable and boring to watch. Run for about 6-10 plays in a row and maybe, just maybe a passing play.  I know Ferrum runs a form of it but they seem to mix it up more when I watch them each year. I wish SU would do that.

The crickets really have been chirping on this board as of late. :'( So, just for the sake of saying something, I think the conference has a pretty real shot at going 3-3 today, assuming losses to Bridgewater, Wesley and UMHB (all really good teams).

That said, with a slip here and there, we could again wind up with an unfortunate one-win weekend, which none of us want!

Good luck to our boys today! I'm heading to Newport News to see CNU play. I hope it'll be a good one.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

umhb 27 - cnu 17: captains play tougher than week one, but fall to 0-2

ncwc 24 - sova 20: bishops slip by

m'ville 20 - centre 17: scots go to 2-0

mc 45 - gcq 38: monarchs slow vogelbach (to a point), but the quackers have no answer for mike hill and monarch running game...hill will get 200+

Even if GCQ gives up 200+ rushing (which is likely consideirng the track record), I still don't see them giving up 45 points this afternoon.  It'll be a good game and high scoring at that, but i'll go 38-35 GCQ  ;)

Captains lead 15-7 over Mary Hardin-Baylor at halftime.

27-11 GCQ- tough loss for the monarchs, but they will bounce back.  Defense did a great job for the most part.  The offense sounded alright but we couldn't finish drives.  Good Job GCQ, Watch out Braves!

Good game SU.. keep up the hardwork and you'll get back to where you belong!

Well, as expected it was another Hornet loss. However I have to say I was very impressed with the freshman QB Twaun Rhodes. He seemed to keep his cool through out the game when he could had easily had freaked out facing the 13th best team in the country. I hope he gets another chance to play next week. I also liked how Barnes showed some gutzo by doing the onside kick to start off the game. The defense I couldn't ask for much more than what they did today. The score board doesn't show how well they played I don't think. Like last week they were on the field for so long it just wore them out. They did not give up 100 yards to a BC back. They played with the Eagles for much of the first half, but the stronger team took control. The Offense still has a lot of work to do. Lacey had -3 yards. They need to spread the ball more to give him a chance. This was the Hornets 9th straight loss. Yikes! When will the madness end??!! ??? I could harp so much on the negatives but I have to look at the positives. Its a rebuilding year unfortunately it could had been a lot worse. GO HORNETS!!

Good luck to the Eagles and the rest of the ODAC family the rest of the year.
