AU vs. Ferrum sets up the title game. Winner vs. CNU for the championship. Everybody else is playing for fourth. It would have been that way w/o the Rocket's last second heriocs last year - I wondered how they would win without him. Listening to the Methodist fans on here it sounded like they were going to be OK. After the looks of things today - I think not! Anyway - Averett has too much offense for Ferrum - win a shootout and set up the game of the year at CNU on Nov. 4. Any help along the way from an upset team would be greatly appreciated.

Narch, since you brought up the Massey ratings, note that Greensboro is 134, well ahead of your Fayetteville-based boys.

Also, Chowan is the LAST rated DII team at 135. Mars Hill (probably a .500 team or so in DII team) is now ranked 40 spots higher in the Masseys than CU. If they played the spread would probably be at least 30 points. And let's face it, Guilford isn't known for their defense, too.

Lastly, why can you not just make your point (skewed to favor MC, of course) and be done with it. Instead, you resort to accusing folks of being on drugs and make immature comments (Lady Lions?). Who is the adult here?

You just haven't been around long enough to understand Narch's "unique" sense of humor.  My guess is he was trying to get a rise out of you and make this board a little mean interesting.

With that said, what happened to the boys today Narch.  I haven't seen a boxscore so I can even make an opinion on what happened today.  Looks like we need to get the offense going.

gullett - no need to whine...it was all meant in good fun, and pat c has already reprimanded me after someone went crying to him - in retrospect i should have said that pridesportbballguy should go back to the looney bin he escaped from and stayed away from the drug references - i could care less what massey says until he starts watching d3 games on a regular basis...the monarchs WILL finish above the pride this year (in my humble opinion, of course)

p.s. - the lady lions reference is to the pride, which is generally made up primarily of female lions serving the alpha male...or, some might say, monarch - look it up, you'll see i'm right

as for what happened today...the ncwc defense appears to have come to play - the monarchs turned the ball over 3 times and were limited to 182 net yards (just 78 on the ground) - the monarch defense appears to have played well enough to win, but ncwc got the big play (a 59 yard td run) - this offense has struggled in 2 of 3 games, but it will come around...if the defense is still playing well, the monarchs will still be in the hunt...have faith, papi...they'll be alright

looking over the play-by-play, i see something similar to what happened against guilford - the monarchs were inside the ncwc 30 3 times and came away with ZERO points - turned the ball over twice, and turned it over on downs on the last posession when they needed a td and xp to win the game  - the 2nd ncwc td came on a short field, as they forced a fumble on a punt fielded at the mc 9 and mc got a personal foul called to ncwc the ball at the mc 5...those kinds of mistakes will kill a team

GC 17 SOVA 16.

Again the game was closer then it looked.  GC had two TD's taken back because of penalties.   (1 maybe there was and the other one was not.)  The refs, again I must complain.  I hope someone sees the tape from this game, and sees that ball would be set and the whistle wouldn't blow until SOVA broke the huddle.  It was a disgrace. The tape should show that.  GC dropped easily 6 interceptions on defense.  I am interested in seeing the box score. I bet GC had more yards then NCWC.  Maybe more rushing yards. 

I am ready to make my first 1st team all-conference pick.  K Chris Palme (He nailed a 47yrd kick.)

Just saw the box score..only 293 yards of offense, actually had more rushing yards. allowed 162 total yards and held them to 0-13 on 3rd down. I hope no one takes this that NCWC will blow away GC

BBallGuy - is your "1st team all conf" kicker the same guy who put a potential game winning field goal against AU last year right in the middle of the soccer goal? That wouldn't be so bad if the soccer goal wasn't sitting just outside the corner of the endzone! Looked like he was throwing a fade route.
Our conference is sub par, to put it nicely, and you guys are making it worse by justifying why MC and GC are stinking it up. One's tradition should allow them to recruit a darn QB and the others amazing recruits ought to get the ball

eh-you - first off, i love the handle...very creative - secondly, i've thought that the cougars were the team to beat since before the season started and have said so publicly many times - i lauded the schedule and have stated on many occasions that i wish the monarchs would take the next step and schedule like that...forgive me, though, if i don't post about how great averett is every day - i don't recall any cougar fans posting about how great the monarchs were...ever - lastly, i don't think the qb has been the problem for the monarchs to this point, but i could be wrong

p.s. - if you want to talk about "mastermind" coaches, don't forget to talk about the one who called 4 straight passes when his team had 1st and goal from the 5 with less than 5 minutes remaining in the game and the oppoosition had 1 timeout - his team was up 22-17 and had a 1st team all-conference rb who had carried the ball 24 times for 109 yards in the game, yet this "mastermind" somehow decided NOT to give him the ball in this situation...
