narch, I wouldn't worry too much about "posession"!  In the last dozen posts or so, I have seen a mindboggling array.  I was certainly not trying to capture everything, but consider:  "disapoints," "dosen't," "dosent," "then" instead of "than" (many times!), "they're" instead of "their," "theball," "was" instead of "were," "accomodate," "school' " instead of "school's," "refs" instead of "refs' ," "too" instead of "to" (also many times!), an uncapitalized "i" and days of the week, just to name a few.  You're still omniscient in my book, which, thankfully, was spelled correctly when it was used!  :)  Peace

I am not going to imply that the Shenandoah administration is pushed around by their athletic programs, but the 42-0 loss to Ferrum certainly is not making the USAC any easier to love.

Are there any new rumblings about Shenandoah moving to a more "competitive" conference, like the Centennial?

Man is this an essay writing board or a football posting board? I hope the latter as I am guilty of quite a few of the above mentioned grammer fopas! Oops, did I mention spelling too? :o

Thanks Llama-

Lets stop bickering and picking at the syntax of our posts and the technicalities of the play clock and refs. Or have you guys forgotten that this is about the greatest game on earth, FOOTBALL. Also, the last time i remember, a win was a win and a loss was a loss no matter how it came. Football isnt about bad calls and referee's mistakes. It is instead about a group of men working as a team to find a way to win, No matter what is thrown at them. In football you focus on what you can control and block the rest out. You are going to get knocked down, you are going to get bad calls, you are going to have to play tough games on the road. But no matter what you have to get back up and overcome. If you cant do that, you will lose.

Hey, llamaguy and crazylegs, just coming to narch's defense.  I simply wanted him to know we're all guilty of typing or spelling an "oops" from time to time.  You're right, it is primarily a "football" board, but some folks like to take a little time for fun that isn't all X's and O'x.  To be honest, if these boards were only about football, they'd be a little boring.  Some good-natured levity seems to help us be a little less cocky about the wins and a little less down about the losses.  :)

"Keyboard dyslexia" is one thing.  Sloppiness is another.

These are not essay writing boards, but it is nice to read a carefully constructed, coherent piece of posting that reflects well on your alma mater.

At least llamaguy, I believe that you know the internet well enough to understand how and where to find the spelling of "faux pas".  And you usually correct your "false steps" as you make them. :)

Ralph, to come to llamaguy's defense, I'm pretty sure he did "fopas" in red to highlight the fact he was deliberately trying to get a laugh by misspelling "faux pas."  I do agree with you, however, that a post is not only a reflection of the writer, but their alma mater.  College level writing, even posts about football, should be as free of fumbles as possible.  Now, back to the games ... :)  Peace

QuoteFootball isnt about bad calls and referee's mistakes.
???

Elroy, I have to disagree with you on this point . . . it's not ALL about bad calls and refs, but bad calls and refs are also part of The Game (and part of discussions about The Game). Maybe not as much now that Instant Replay is here, but at some levels, Instant Replay is now part of The Game.  Purist may not like it, and I don't like the delays it causes, but I think it makes The Game better by taking some of the human errors by refs out of The Game. :-\

I definately agree with you here, but as a player or coach, not as a spectator or fan. Unless you are a player or a coach, you really have no control over anything, so focusing on anything doesn't help your team win. In fact, anything written in these forums will probably not help anyone's team win (or lose). It is simply a place for fans to vent and discuss The Game - including technicalities that only matter to a few avid fans. It's part of the love of The Game of Football that some discuss the minutest details and how they may or may not affect The Game. For some it is really hard to wait an entire week for the next game so we post. At least the players and coaches have practice everyday.

OK . . . so how many on this forum has been knocked down this season?
I was almost knocked down by a little girl in the line at concessions, but her stroller caught me.

Quoteyou are going to get bad calls, you are going to have to play tough games on the road.
:o

Boy, do I agree with you here!! Unfortunately, all of Greensboro's games have been home games - with 4 TDs called back in the last two. With both of their wins by one point, refs are fair game. And I'm really looking forward to seeing the officiating on the road ! ! !  :'( :'( :'( ;D >:(

I am sorry to give the impression that I did not catch llamaguy's "play" on words.

I appreciate the posters on this board who have made this board one of the enjoyable ones to read.  It is definitely more civilzed than it was about 2001. ;)

Newbie- When I referred to focusing on what you can control I was talking about the teams on the field. And as far as being knocked down, trust me, Ive had my share of bangs and bruises both past and present. Im not talking about people in the forrum in my posts, Im talking about on the field.

D3Newbie, I have no idea who "dinged" you.   I sincerely appreciate your passion for Greensboro football and contributions to the board, so I'll restore the karma point for you.

All posters with 200 or more posts are entitled to give (applaud) and take (smite) karma.  You start with a zero balance and then your karma can go up or down, both negative and positive.  Those posters with over 200 posts have icons on their screen that are not yet visible to you.  Unfortunately, until you reach 200 posts, you are at the mercy of everyone else.  This is designed to prevent new posters from signing on anonymously and unfairly "smiting" someone from an opposing school without adding content to the board.  With seniority, then, comes privilege.  In a nutshell, if someone strongly agrees with you, thinks you have added valuable content, or believes you have handled an issue in a well-written, fair manner, they will "applaud" you.   Conversely, if they strongly dislike what you posted or think you handled a hot issue  poorly, they'll "smite" you.  To create some additional fairness, you can't "applaud" or "smite" the same person but once in an 18-hour period.  Also, eventually, if you reward or reprimand someone repeatedly, you will run out of available karma for that poster.  I hope this helps!  :)

Crazylegs- I agree with all that you say, execpt what I have bolded.  D3Newbie has got it right.  This game has become a game of referee mistakes and calls.  We all made it part of the game.  (When I am complaining about the refs greensboro has won.  More often then not, people complain when the team lost.)  More reasons officials have become part of the game.  Instant replay.  If it weren't for people that talked about calls, instant replay would never be.  At the upper levels in college, conferences have suspened officials for calls.  To say it isn't part of the game, is understating the facts.

I am sure everyone has done this, watching a basketball game and a foul is called with .2 seconds left.  It doesn't matter who is playing, everyone has said this at one point, "You can't call a foul there."  There is a penalty on just about every play (holding, illegal contact, etc.) Officials have that at thier discretion.   (4 TD's called back on 4 penalties is a little excessive.  I bet there is a statistic about how many TD's are called back based on penalties called somewhere.  Right now Greensboro is exceeding that statisic.)
