fbjoe/mcol51 - i think the offense is playing very inconsistently and executing poorly in the red zone...i think they'll get on track soon, and when they do, they'll be very dangerous - i've only seen the chowan game in person, but i have faith - i'm not sure that the coaching staff has given bartee the entire offense, either, but it's tough to make a legit judgement from seeing one game

fbjoe - no offense, but i don't recall the te you're talking about - i know monarch te's didn't catch a lot of balls last year with all the wr's they ran out there - if hill gets any more running lanes, he'll win the heisman :)...the kid has 362 yards in 3 games - i could legitimately see him rushing for 1500 this year if he stays healthy - i do agree, though, that the monarchs need more balance and need to use an outstanding wr corps to the fullest

Ralph, to come to llamaguy's defense, I'm pretty sure he did "fopas" in red to highlight the fact he was deliberately trying to get a laugh by misspelling "faux pas."  I do agree with you, however, that a post is not only a reflection of the writer, but their alma mater.  College level writing, even posts about football, should be as free of fumbles as possible.  Now, back to the games ... :)  Peace

Thanks Hasanova,
I think most of you are aware by now that:
1) I can only count by fives
2) My daily routine requires me to write in Sig. , 1 tab po qhs prn.  ;D

You're welcome.  No problem - fair is fair.  :)  Hey, got anything at that pharmacy for the ulcer Guilford's D is giving me these days?  Will prn suffice or is there a special Latin abbreviation for take ten times each fall?  lol

I could suggest the "purple pill"; however, I bet a couple of bad arse run stoppers in the middle might work a little better! :D

I believe the correct abbreviation would be: Take 1 cap po qSat am during football season.  ;)

I've had the "purple pill" before, but I agree, where's a good Defense when you need it?!  We have scored over 40 - and lost - three times in the past two years!  Hand me my pills!  I like the prescription - thanks.  :)

I still don't know where I am going to be set up.  The guy running the whole tailgating thing says he thinks its over where the players come out.  All the way in the back,, but won't know for sure until friday.

OK.  No problem.  I'll check for messages later in the week.

Narch, i believe the TE that ftbl joe is talkin about was AJ Huddleston. He was a monster out there and is now if you see him. His knee was a problem he hurt it in the coastal carolina scrimmage and that gave way to letting andrew gurley have the reigns for TE last year. I dont know why hudd;eston is not back this year but im sure its a good reason, that kid loved football and still does im sure.

Narch- i wasnt knocking bartee, i think he is a great addition and replacement for rocket, however, i was just stating i would like to see him throw more touchdowns, i saw two of em get called back for holding against chowan on the highlight film, and he had two against guilford that should have been td's, but were also penalized.

I was there last year and saw bartee and thought he needed to grow up if he was to be the starter next year. Well he did just that, even to talk to him before the game against guilford he sounded like a completely different person and a football player. I understand they also have a nice freshman as well in sparks. He looked good during warmups throwing. He is a big kid, and hopefully one day may get to start for methodist.

MCOL51 and NARCH thanks for the info.  I knew MC had a big boy at T.E. with good hands and would give Silk a run for the money at being the best T.E. in the conference, but had not heard anything about him.  Hopefully he will be back to help the offense

Can someone tell me that NCWC is better then MC.  Or are they better then MC.  Just interested, because the word of the week so far is HYPE!

All I have heard was "We didn't buy into the hype surrounding Pittsburgh" (Bengals vs. Steelers)

Same thing last night with Falcons and Saints.  Joe Horn said they didn't buy into the hype of the Falcons.

I am expecting a team not favorite to win the conference, will do just that and not buy into the hype.  So here is my question, who do you all think has the best chance of taking down the big 3? (CNU, AU, and FC)

Greensboro ?

Is that the right answer ?

What do I win ?    Any Karma?  Narch?

I think this Saturday will tell us if The Pride are for real this year - or at least give us a better clue than the first three games. And the first QTR will be critical even though Greensboro has come from behind to win in the last two games.

Last week it seemed Herbin could run up the middle for 5-10 yards anytime he wanted to or his number was called. Do you think we might have more of a ground game up the middle this game to keep the ball out of Vogels hands and since the rush is their weakness?  That might be a key to this one . . . .

The only team that will beat any of the Big 3 will be......another Big 3 team. From the rest of the pack, I think Wesleyan can come the closest, but it depends on which NCW team shows up. The Bishops who beat Methodist will have a much better chance than the Bishops who lost to Emory & Henry, though maybe I'm just not giving E&H enough credit. Monty has settled in there and might be working his magic after just one year.

As for our Big 3, the other five teams in the conference won't be able to stop Ferrum's run game, Averett's balanced attack or CNU's everything. The three leaders are just too far ahead of the rest of the group, and the only times the Big 3 will lose during the rest of the season will be to one another.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

what does this mean???...the english language is a powerful tool, at some point you should learn to use it :)

as for the "hype" - when the coaches poll was made public and the monarchs were picked to finish 4th, i said that sounded just about right, and even made this comment:
Quote from: narch on July 19, 2006, 09:53:10 PM
p.s. - i agree completely with the coaches poll

and this comment as we were discussing m'ville's placement in the coaches poll:
Quote from: narch on July 31, 2006, 02:26:39 PM...it's tough to look at those 3 teams ahead of the monarchs and say conclusively that mc will beat them (even though they were 2-1 against them last year)

if that is "hyping" a team, i need to take lessons...i think what you're mistaking for "hype" is actually fans who are talking about their favorite team

speaking of hype maybe i should take notes from the gc fans - notice how many posts you've made about greensboro in the last few weeks and the type of proclamations you and other gc fans are making...all of this after beating powerhouses maryville and sova by a combined 4 points at home (with one of those games needing an ot period) - i hope for your sake that the lady lions live up to all the "hype" on this board

Com'on, Narch . . .give us a break!  We've already doubled our victories from last year and a wins a wins a win - right? Victory margin doesn't make any difference in conference standings.

After going 6-30 the past three years, we are 2-1 and in first place in the conference. Let us hype a little . . . who knows when we'll get another chance!

I was answering PrideGuy's question tongue in cheek when I said Greensboro. Sure the top three and MC will probably kill The Pride, but right now there is hope and hope is always good!!

And maybe, just maybe, The Pride will get their first winning season . . . . at least we can always hope - right??

BTW, no true hype right now after those close wins, but if we somehow kill Guilford by 40 then you might catch me hyping a little - or maybe hyperventilating . . .  ;D

I read that post earlier I believe it was posted by PrideSportsbballguy and I was thinking exactly what WC was thinking. I truely honestly believe that one of the big three will beat the big three!! Obviously they have to play each other, but I dont really see either of them losing the other games. I think the one test for CNU will be the SU game this weekend because they never play well at Shentel and the trip to Maryville via bus will take something out of them as well, even tho they are splitting the trip out there into two days. The thing CNU has going for them this year is that they play both Ferrum and Averett at home, which is huge, because as most teams do, they play so much better in front of a packed house (3,000+). Im just like the rest of you, cheering on our beloved teams hoping for the best and looking forward to another great weekend of college football on Saturday.
