here are my picks for the week.

GREENSBORO 17   CNU  35- i think CNU will have a great game on saturday. Roland Hilliard has been due a big game and i think he will get it on sat. maybe rushing for 140+.

MARYVILLE 17   FERRUM  42- Maryville's defense is giving up 147 yrds/game rushing, while ferrum is aceraging 370/game. Colby Townsend is a great D-END having 7 sacks already this year, but ferrum has a player named PITTS. If you have ever seen this young man play the game he is amazing. Great athlete, and ferrum is still upset about loosing saturday, they will win this big.

AVERETT 28  METHODIST 17 - Why am i choosing averett, because i want my picks to look good, and because i think it will come down to AVERETT and CNU  for the conference title, i think we will have one winner this year for the first time. Averett throws the ball well, 1031 yrds passing on the year. MC is giving up 259.8/ game through the air. Methodist doesnt have a very goodoffensive attack this year.....yet..... If parks continues throwing the way he did saturday, then the monarchs win this one, if he starts. If the monarchs cannot throw the ball and all they do is run, they will loose this one. Mike hill might have 130+ and 2 TD'S, but hopefully we can throw a little bit and get some TD'S that way.

Narch- any word on who might be starting for the monarchs at QB?

As for the weather, 64 degrees with an 80% chance of rain beginning overnight with NNE winds at 16 MPH. Nothing like a windy, rainy arse football game. Thank god for a press box!!!

I know DI schools sometimes have non-conference teams scheduled for 5-10 years ahead of time.  Obviously, DIII schools must have a little more flexibility than that or they wouldn't be able to schedule new programs (such as LaGrange) on relatively short notice.   Typically, what's normal for a DIII program as far as knowing their schedule ahead of time?  Is it set years in advance or is it something the AD's still working on in the spring before they play that fall?

From what I hear at CNU, they usually complete the schedule in the fall and then release it sometimes toward the end of the season or once the season is complete. But I think CNU usually has it complete around a year in advance.

With rain in the forecast at the CNU-GC game, from my experience always favors a low scoring game.  A defensive game IMO.  Rain is a great neutralizer.  So don't expect the blow out.

I think this game will come down to Specials from field position to kicking it through.

If Barcus is back for CNU, which is distinct possibility, we will own field position cause the man is a machine when it comes to punting accuracy. Only problem is, he hasnt kicked in a game since he got HAMMERED in the second game of the season and we all thought he was done for the year when all he had was a deep bone bruise above his knee.

Goose-

Good Call.  Coming back from an injury and playing on a potential slick surface.  He better come back to form on Saturday.  We have some of the best return guys in the conference.  (Torrey Lowe comes to mind)

cnufan

Yeah from what I heard that Lowe kid is pretty average!  ;)

Most of the people in here, also do the pick'em.  The poll question this week was USASAC more or less balanced.  5 out of 6 say it is.  Yet people continue to pick the favorites.  (I am guilty too, but I picked at leat one underdog.)  Thoughts on how balanced is this conference really.

I've seen Torrey play a couple of times - he's good.  If we're on the playground choosing sides, I'd take him!  :)

PrideSportBBallGuy

If there was Fantasy Football league for d3sports.  Torrey would be my first pick out of this conference ;D

Oh wow. I have reached the status giving Karma.  How does that work now?

The LaGrange game came out of necessity. BC scheduled Southern VA when it ended its run with CNU. So VA backed out and decided it didn't want to be drilled by BC. In the spring that year BC replaced them with Thomas More who a month later backed out on both LaGrange and BC to join the PAC and start conference games immediately. BC picked up George Mason (Club team) last year until LaGrange started playing games. The evolution of a schedule, clear as mud!! :o

You know, it's been hard for BC to find teams to play us as well.  Last year we  had to play a club team because we couldn't find a 10th team to play.  It's not just Mount Union who can't find people to play.

you could still be playing CNU each year...but the coach chose to play Southern Virginia instead! He was worried about a physical game before the HSC game and conference play.
