rain, 64 temp, winds around 40 mph........looks like the great GC secondary will have to play tight on the line and stop the run. punting/kicking could be in trouble. game prediction on saturday.

you could still be playing CNU each year...but the coach chose to play Southern Virginia instead! He was worried about a physical game before the HSC game and conference play.

Okay, fine, we admit; we were and continue to be scared of mighty CNU.

2002: BC 25, CNU 6
2003: CNU 16, BC 12
2003: BC 26, CNU 3 (playoffs)
2004: CNU 21, BC 16

Series is tied 2-2.  BC's two wins were convincing, CNU's weren't.

Also, it seems we played you all during your best years.

So we should be the ones disappointed we don't play anymore. :)

You know, it's been hard for BC to find teams to play us as well.  Last year we  had to play a club team because we couldn't find a 10th team to play.  It's not just Mount Union who can't find people to play.

you could still be playing CNU each year...but the coach chose to play Southern Virginia instead! He was worried about a physical game before the HSC game and conference play.

That's why we picked up Ferrum, they're the better team for preparing for ODAC games.   I won't mention how ballsy that statement is for a team that hasn't done too much in the second season.   :D  But then again you all beat 1 ranked team this year so you SHOULD run off at  the mouth...  :P

dang ...talk about panties getting all wadded up. I just said the same thing as Llamaguy, but didn't go into the details about the GM club team, Thomas More etc.......and y'all freak out.  Olinemom made the comment about it's hard to schedule tough teams......I just said that the CNU/BC series could have continued...nothing more ...nothing less.....Llama (or maybe someone else) mentioned the reasoning was the way the playoffs are determined for at-large teams, etc. I agree it was smart scheduling by the coach....he figured out the rules, and then found a way to make them work......

I didn't say anything about who beat whom and by how much and what year and who was in their prime years, etc.

Personally, I was hoping that the CNU/BC series would turn into a true in-state, fierce rivalry.

I'll try not to make simple statements based on fact anymore, if it upsets you guys that much.

Sounds like a great weekend to watch a game.  Are CNU fans that loyal.  Will they show up for a game with weather like that.  I am sure some of them are thinking, its only greensboro.  Again I could be wrong.  I think it will be a low scoring game still. :-\

CNU85

Many  CNU fans are older (50+) and many are over 40. I can't see them sitting in 65 degree downpours with gale force winds. If the weather turns out as bad as they say, I predict less than 2,000. Heck I'm a diehard CNU fan - my definition of die hard is:

1. season ticket holder
2. have attended more than 1 away game
3. do not have a kid on the team
4. cnu didn't have a team when I was there
5. I give $$ to the Athletic dept.

--- and if the weather is that bad, I'll think about listening to the game on radio (for you un-married people - that means if my wife gives me a hard time about wearing a yellow raincoat, I'm not going!!).
If I go and catch a cold, I'll hear about it for the next 21 years of marriage!!!!

CNU85

Ballguy,

I admire your belief in your team! They have improved. But (you knew that word was coming) I really don't think this game will be close. If the weather is really bad and it shuts down the GC passing game...and turns into a Hilliard highlight show...it could get ugly. Although, at times Hilliard has a difficult time keeping his footing. Who really knows? we'll find out Saturday.

Given the forecast - are th GC faithful still heading up for the game?

Other then parents and girlfriends.  I will be the only real fan there.

Hilliard is a good back. (Only 110 yds last year at GC)  Salisbury, can back that up. I hope the rain slows him down.  The expected weather was the same as last year.  If I remeber right

I don't think CNU can score unless they have good field position.  Take lasy year's game.  A 28-15 victory for CNU.  They avg around mid-field the 1Q.  21 points were scored.  14 of 21 were points off TO's.  GC has done a better job of holding on to the football compared to last year.  (Only difference between last year and this year was Davidson to Mars Hill)  They have 2 wins compared to 0.

This year, first conference game for CNU.   They scored on drives that started at  S34, C50 and S44.  I don't see them scoring on any drives where they have had poor field position.  There could be alot of that this game.  Given the weather.

You would expect that out of a team like GC, not a team considered a top team in USASAC.

No panties in a wad here.. we have our own inter-conference rivals to play games against.. personally as a former BC player the CNU game never seemed that interesting when compared to the BC/HSC and BC/W&L match up. The W&L game is pretty intense as they are only about an hour south of Bridgewater and they always come prepared to play.  I would also argue that for the years the we played CNU the HSC/BC game truly determined the best D3 team in VA.  Hell the BC/SU was more fun than playing against CNU.   Those are all true in-state rivals who for the most part give BC good games every year.   But  back to your original point Coach Clark made a smart move by creating a scheule that best suits a team that has a chance to make the playoffs.   But I'd argue that the CNU/BC game was always a side note on the schedule when compared to the other ODAC games which are both always within the state of VA.

CNU85

Hall,

I agree. Rivalries are usually within the conference and especially with the schools involved. As a fan, I would have loved to see the series continue. If the BC/CNU game every year determined the best d3 team in the state, maybe it would have developed into a non-conf rivalry. It's not a rivalry when you play 4 times. BC was the big dog in those 4 games. To CNU it was big, because we like playing the big dogs. Sometimes we win. To BC it wasn't big becuase the way the playoffs are determined the only sure bet ot making the post season is to win the conference. with the conference schedule starting the week after CNU and against HSC, I'd be focused on that part of the schedule. A conference loss (even only 1) usually meant you weren't int he post season. A region loss, but winning the conference, and you're in.

Smart move by Clark - sad news for this football fan......plus I enjoyed meeting the BC fans. Good group of folks.

You could leave the wife at home.

I am going to.

She would rather watch her team, VA Tech, lose again anyway.

I just got to the thirties and meet the rest of your criteria.  Oh yeah did I read this years benefits correctly?  Are we allowed to go to presidents box at half time?

I will be at the game rain or shine.  Have not missed one this year.  As a matter of fact I got into a lot of trouble last year when my wife and oldest girl were in a friends wedding and I left the kid and wife to go to the game.  I came back to the reception and had my butt handed to me.
