Not trying to be smart just asking a ? A rain storm normally keeps lesser talented teams in a game. CNU's defense and Offense are built off of speed. Not to mention our starting tail back is 185 (that's with rain soaked cleats)  ;D. He's not exactly built for wet conditions when it takes away the majority of his speed and open field moves. With all of that being said, what makes you think CNU would not have played better if the weather conditions were better.

Sorry to burst you bubble but historically GC has never played well against CNU.
Good luck the rest of the way and if you really want to SHOW HOW GOOD OF A TEAM YOU GUYS HAVE, THEN BEAT AU.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

CaptainChris

What are you pride guys talking about? You must have been watching a different game then me at POMOCO today.  You are trying to say that you would have made it a game if it didn't rain?  Both quarterbacks who played are under 50% on completions for the season.  You keep talking about how poor CNU's offense is but they did what was needed to win.  Greensboro's offense was non-existent.  All week prior to the game you mentioned how CNU was only winning with there defense...if that's the case then why are you bringing up there offense?  If the Pride secondary was as good as it was built up to be then they could have forced more turnovers to help them win.  On a dry field the score would have been even worse.  It just goes to show you guys may be as classless as the Greensboro team as one player got ejected for kicking a CNU player and other personal fouls for cheap shots.

I've been reading posts all year and wasn't planning on saying anything until you two came chanting about how "different" this Greensboro team was and saying you hoped CNU wouldn't blame the lose on rain and then turned around and blamed Greensboro's loss on the rain.  Also it was mentioned that the field was in terrible condition but I had the chance to stand on it after the game and it was in excellent condition and well kept considering the amount of rain in this region in the past 3 days.

As for the Bridgewater fans...CNU is in their 6th year of existence in football.  Was Bridgewater competing in the playoffs their first 4 years?  And one of you two 'bright' beings stated about CNU fans looking at BC's schedule but you are on our conference's message board so are you a little worried about meeting CNU at POMOCO in the playoffs?  Because it is very likely if CNU wins out.

The conference has me baffled this year.

Ferrum to start 1-2 is a shcoker to me. They'll start pounding folks soon.

Maryville seems to be tough with the only loss to GC in overtime. CNU better have it together next week.

AU scares me...scared me the past 2 years.....they're good.

Methodist - I thought they would have a win under their belt right now.

UNCW - seems to be spotty....could beat anybody on a given day. Dangerous.

SU - about as expected.

GC - I thought was a much improved team but today reminded me otherwise...see notes above about coaching.

After a few weeks of conference play here's how I see it....

CNU a favorite to win it, but has played the 2 poorest teams in the conference. Maryville, AU, FC still to play and UNCW can be dangerous.

AU is distancing itself from rest.

Maryville, FC are right there with Methodist appearing to either be a half step behind or about to collapse......a lot fo close losses can demoralize a team. I think they'll rebound. Not real sure where to categorize UNCW.

GC and SU - bringing up the rear.

pssst....yo...Captain Chris......shhh...come over here a minute.....before the evil Narch gets to you........it's "their" not "there".......use the possessive form.....

Beware, Narch will set you right!

oh..and welcome to the board!!

I almost didn't go to the game....about 12:50 I decided to give it a shot....glad I did....I have my wallet drying out still......losts of paperwork in there got soaked......my cash in my front pocket is drying out too.

Alright man time for the lo down. I cant say much, but I was there toady at the game and we wont even go into some things that went on:

1. The QB's are going to be under 50% with as much as we pass the ball.
2. I was on the field before the game, at half, and at the end of the game and the field was in rough shape throught the whole game when you have 2in of water standing on and around the field.

THE third thing is dont question class.....our team has a load of class and it might not of shown today but there was some other things that we could talk about.

And also when you were talking about the secondary of the Pride you need to do some reserch and see that we have 4 people ranked in the nation in interceptions and that is suposed to be a BAD secondary come on now.

CNU85

Narch,

I'm just happy if there's toilet paper within reach...hanging or not!!!

CaptainChris

Ponchos prevailed for me.  Stayed dry except for when I stepped onto the 'horrible' playing condition that had 2 feet of water covering.

Narch can correct my grammar at any time b/c at least he has an understanding of football unlike the pride fans...must be why there team is so undisciplined, they know that kicking is for soccer, not football.  #51 must have been a Titans fan.

PrideFan1986

Hey 85,

What are you thinking that GC is one of the worest teams in the conference. Where do you get that from? I mean we are alot better then we looked today I mean come on now.

Alright man it is like this. I will tell you this I know football like the back of my hand I played for a long time. The second thing on this is you dont know our team you look at the rest of our games and then say something.

The daunted GC Pride secondary.....the weather prevented a passing game so I couldn't see them in pass protection......BUT.....when CNU had the ball on it's own (around) 38 yd line and it was 4th down....and they passed DEEP into GC territory...why did the GC player intercept it and get tackled on the 32

85 I said the same thing when the Gboro player caught the ball. Selfish!!!!

Thats called a PLAYER PUTTING HIMSELF AND HIS INDIVIDUAL GOALS AHEAD OF THE TEAM.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnn the words of Coach K.

Which pass are you talkin about the one that was fumbled out that they said was still in? That one happened right infront of me.

1. I agree with you on the 50% and # of passes
2. the comment I made was that CONSIDERING we had at least 4 inches of rain, some local spots were more than 8 inches......the field was in decent shape. Nobody said it was perfect.....besides, GC and CNU played on the same field. And it was a GC fan who posted that CNU shouldn't whine about the rain when they lost and yet that was one of the first excuses a GC fan mentioned when they lost.
3. your comment about not mentioning class contradicted itself......"our team had a load of class but it didn't show today"....if  "class" didn't show , then you didn't have it.....and I agree there were lots of things going on during the game that I even noticed from the stands. That stuff goes on in every game...it's a physical smash mouth game. The difference is how you keep your cool. 3 personal fouls and an ejection is not keeping your cool. The CNU players got into GC players heads...they won the mental game and GC didn't show "class".
4. Nobody said the secondary was bad.....in fact I mentioned they couldn't be judged today because the weather prevented a passing game to test them....I just said the one guy who intercepted a 4th down pass wasn't thinking! Good secondary players do not make that mistake...especially right after a timeout when it was clear CNU was going for it......again, the coaches should have been reminding the players during the timeout. Also, GC has played 3 D3 teams this year and have given up 36, 36 and 28 points.......I don't care how many interceptions the individuals have, that is not good team defense. The 4th down interception today is prime example....great play, get s the stat, but it was a stupid interception.

Eh-You

How would anyone from gboro football have a clue what any ranked team would look like? What are you using for your measuring stick - Guilford? News flash: Today was the first good team you've seen all year and they blew you out. And Bball Guy, you better do all the Averett dogging now b/c our "wager" is going to keep you from doing it after AU squeaks by Gboro the way CNU did.
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

nope ...not that one....this was a great catch by the GC player.......GC took control of the ball......about 30 yards further downfield than they had to.....

I think this is a pretty solid analysis. The conference can swing a lot of ways right now, but it does seem pretty clear that CNU and AU are the two standouts.

While Maryville has been showing signs of life, Greensboro, Ferrum and Methodist are looking like middle-of-the-pack teams. Maryville is really making a run of things, though. They could creep up into third this year. And with Wesleyan, who knows that Coach Ginn has going on over there. Some days they're on, others, they're way off.

Because of the many stumbles during the off-season, it's been pretty tough to gauge how these teams were to stack up against one another.

CNU is still the favorite, I think, though I'm still expecting a very good came to emerge on Nov. 4 when Averett comes to Newport News. That's the conference title game, no doubt.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.
