MY PIcks for the week:

Greencsboro 35 vs Shennandoah 14 - I like Greensboro in this one. SU has only scored 29 pts. all year. The interesting thing to me is that SU has not scored a point in the first half this year. That is pretty unbelievable. I think it will be closer than the spread says, but im goin with GC.

CNU 31 vs. Maryville 7-  I am going with CNU. They have a good team, not a great one, but a good team this year. The defense is outstanding, it is the offense that is letting them down. Maryville is not bad, but their offense is not going to dominate the defense of CNU.

AVERETT 28 vs. NCWC 17- Averett has a good team this year and they are playing well together as a unit. The offense is playing well and the defense is playing terrific as well. I think NOV. 4 for the cougars and the captains is going to be huge, and i think we may actually finally have one winner for the USASAC championship.

MC 21 vs. Ferrum 17- This game will be good. MC's rushign defense is outstanding this year. They held Kyle Wilson to 68 yrds. and this kid was an all-conference pick last year. Everyone knows that Ferrum can not throw the ball. If you force them to throw they will loose. Look at what happened last year in the playoffs. Wesley made them play from behind and force them to throw and pitts played the worst game of his career. MC gets its first conference win sat.

This question is for everyone, what in the world is going on with SU's offense this year. i mean come on 29 points the whole year and not scored yet in the first half of any ballgames. I mean i know MC'S offense is not doing terrific, i mean hell we have trouble finding the endzone through the air, but i mean we have a running game. Is anyone hurt up there, or are they young or whats going on. I am not hating on them at all, dont think for once that i am, but i mean i would like to know what in the world has happened to them. 3 years ago, they could score like no other, now they have basically no offense.

Rocket- hey man, listen i was thinking about what could help us in improving the stadium and fan support from the student body. I think everything you said is great, but one thing i think we left out is this. They need to putn lights up and lets play games under the lights at nighttime. Football play at night and then soccer, i mean switch it up. This way everyone could come and watch and support the college. Remember back 2 years ago when we played CNU for homecoming and they flew the ball in and had a pretty good time going on, everyone was there and showed support, thats what we need i think it will greatly help.

Narch- why have they been so against putting lights up on the field? we have talked about it since i was a freshman, and now i have graduated and still wondering. Do you know anything behind the answers of NO?

i normally think those at private colleges are much more intelligent than those at a public school, but i've got to side with the cnu folks here (wow, did i really say that ???)

dang I was scrolling back through the board and I missed this post!!

i normally think those at private colleges are not more intelligent, just more privileged. Often they are less understanding of the world around them (snotty) and thus do not function as well in the business world. I even wonder if sometimes there is too much in-breeding of the socially elite and that produces some very unstable individuals.....just a personal observation from 20+ years working with all kinds of people.  ;D

thanks Narch........just curious though about the intelligent factor...what would you say about people with a degree from the public school William & Mary????

I don't think a vast majority of kids at most private schools are members of the socially elite.  Most of us, however, are members of that elite group that spend the rest of their lives trying to pay back our student loans  :D

MCol...I don't see MC putting lights on the field anytime in the future.  Think about how many d3 stadiums you played in while at MC, how many of them had lights?  I think I played one night game while at MC and that was at GC for their homecoming.  I played in a few more stadiums with lights when I was playing at the CG academy but more schools up north have lights (probably because it seems to get dark at like 2pm up there  ;) )

They should do more things to get the community involved like invite the pop warner teams in the area to the game.  They did that one year during fall break (because they knew there would be no students there) and the place was packed.

I know you guys are just kidding around, but generally speaking, I always felt it really doesn't matter where you came from, what's in your bank account or where you went to school.  To me, it's what's in your heart and mind that really matters.  Peace

There once was a friendly debate
About schools - whether private or state.
Both wrong, yet both right.
The wallet has might,
But wise souls have strength to be great.

Hey, I understand.  Kidding around keeps you going!  I went to a private undergraduate school only because I was able get a scholarship - there was no way my family could afford it on their own.  My roommate my freshman year was unpacking a Loius Vuitton suitcase and I was pulling my stuff out of Kroger grocery bags.  lol  He was a good guy, however, and treated me great.  I then went to a state-supported school for the same reason.  Trust me, you see the best - and worst - in human behavior at both types of schools.  Bad - and good - behavior has no boundaries.  :)  Peace

If you suck at sports, you're forced to develop other skills.  :)  Ask the guys who were on the Guilford soccer team with me - they'll tell you.  lol

Thanks.  I truly admire what the USCG does - and does well.

Hasa
I personally like it when the CG blows the superstructure down to the keel. That's when I like them.

Now that the dirty birds are coming this week are you painted in crimson with a grey touch? ;)
