just like a gc guy to avoid the board after a loss :)...imagine what will happen to the pride fans when they finish 4-6 :)...this board will really dry up

seriously, though, if i've seen it once on these boards, i've seen it at least 10 times - a fan of team a comes on the boards talking about how "this will be our year" and backs it up with some seemingly factual insider knowledge about why, only to shrink back into oblivion once he/she realizes this will not, indeed, be their year (although i thought gullet was man enough to post regardless of outcome...maybe he's been out of town for the last couple of days...let's give him the benefit of the doubt)

one of the things i admire about you, '85 and  guys like goose and mike stanley (r.i.p.p. - rest in posting peace) is your ability to post on the football and hoops boards through the good and bad (although, your bad hasn't been nearly as bad as what the gc fans have experienced :)) - i also enjoy that you guys are intelligent enough to understand this is just an internet message board and that the jabs we take at each other are mostly in jest and all in the name of showing our fanaticism for our teams and d3 athletics - i understand that when i made a couple of offhand remarks about gc (calling them the lady lions...which is a perfectly biologically accurate description of a pride...and making references to a fissure) that some fan(s) sent pat coleman an email complaining about my posts...lighten up folks, it's just an internet message board

sorry, that's been lurking under my fingertips for a few weeks, and i just decided to let it out - please insert usasac/d3 football talk here:

Here are the Pick Your Knows games for Week 7:

10/14
Shenandoah (+20.5) at Greensboro
Christopher Newport at Maryville (+24.5)
Averett at Wesleyan (+10.5)
Ferrum (even) at Methodist

National
UW-La Crosse (+7.5) at UW-Whitewater
St. Olaf at Concordia-Moorhead (+6.5)

And here's the official "you'll never guess this in a million years" tiebreaker: What will be the combined yardage of Maryville's punts in the game against CNU this weekend? 320

this was posted on the pick 'em board just under an hour ago...so that slack i cut him is tightening a little bit :)

AdmiralPapi

Narch, what's with all this sentimental and philosophical non-sense...do I need to drag you back to 22 North and talk some sense into you! ;)

Are you gonna be at the game this weekend?  I may drive up for it, depends on the weather, if it's gonna be purty I'll be offshore WB doing a lil' fishin'

Hey, narch . . .why so personal?   ???

Just because Gullett hasn't posted in the past 48 hours probably just means he has a life outside of this forum. Prideguy & myself are pride fans and I think we have posted pretty consistently on this forum, even after the CNU shellacking.  :-\

You said these posts "are mostly in jest", but flaming, pulling the wings off of flies and kicking someone when they're down is not - IMO.  :-*

I, like other Pride fans, expected more out of our team this year, but I am very proud of what they have accomplished. I would have liked to see them do better, and maybe they will the rest of the season. But I challenge you to find where I have ever disrespected another team or made fun of other posters - even in jest. And what makes you think it was a Pride fan that reported you to Pat? Evidently he said something to you about your posts since you bring it up every other post.  :'(

I for one will be glad when the Methodist/Greensboro game is over, whoever wins. Then maybe you can pick on someone else besides the lady lions - what other team are you afraid of this year?  :P

Peace, brother - at least until after the Lady Lions play the Methodist Queens!  ;D Maybe the best team will actually win this one . . . . .  ::)

ROLL PRIDE ! ! ! !

CNU85

I remember when I was a kid I LMAO when I pulled wings off of flies. and I remember the other kids laughing when they were kicking me when I was down......

CNU85

also...there's more to Narch's post than the black and white letters that appear on this board.

As foghorn Leghorn would say....."It's an inside joke, son"

AdmiralPapi

I say..I say..I said...I said BOY that there's an inside joke!

Calm down Newbie...If we weren't all always flaming each other, this board would be more boring than listening to John Madden talk politics.

too funny papi.....

I actually spent about 30 minutes Saturday morning watching Scooby Doo.....hadn't done that in awhile!! We need a classic Cartoon Network, not that crappy one they have on now......I want Underdog back!!! Remember Ralph and Sam,  sheep dog and wolf, who would punch a clock, then the wolf would try to eat the sheep, and the dog would beat the mess out of him....then they'd punch the clock for lunch, punch back in, and start all over again.....they always finished the day with:

"goodnight Sam"
"goodnight Ralph"

85 still up to your shinanaganz!

Ive seen the PRIDE play a few times this year and they hae some untapped potential.  They stack up to a lot of d3 teams and I know they are capable of winning many more games this season.

Roll Pride!

Mosh, good to hear from you.  I know you saw the Pride from the Quaker sideline on Sept. 30.  That must be a strange feeling.  I think Greensboro does have some good talent and I believe they'll win 4 - maybe 5 - this season and that'll be a nice improvement over 2005.

CNU85

Mosh - you forgot to put in the smiley that indicated you were joking!!

I always say "untapped potential" is the dumbest thing. I have untapped potential to become a nuclear physicist. I have untapped potential to be the CFO of Exxon.

In sports, to me, "untapped potential" is the same as saying.......they could be good but they're not. What the heck does that mean?

Bob Uecker could be in the Hall of Fame for playing baseball and batting .200, but his potential was untapped.

I'll humor you for a minute and assume that it means that the players could be better than they are performing. So, if the potential is not being "tapped"...isn't it time for a new coach?

AdmiralPapi

85....you know what's amazing to me is if you keep a bunch of grown men in a room together long enough they will start talking about the classic cartoons.

don't you have boomerang?...i watched hong-kong fooey with my 3 1/2 year old last night, and the laugh olympics...great stuff, and she loved every minute - cartoons today just don't compare

if you have a dvr with time warner, there is a cartoon "on-demand" station that has some great classic stuff, as well

what's up mosh...good to get your $.02 every once in a while - will we see more of you after the season?
