CNU85

I listened to the game on radio. CNU played great in the first half. Then, even I could tell they lost focus, which is what the coach said postgame. Look out Methodist, CNU will want to put toegther a complete 60 minute game next week.....at POMOCO.

Good for that Narch and Papi crowd.  :)

GC-Q........those FR I saw during Brian's last year must be popping a gasket......
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

narch

got the box score - mc held fc to 144 on the ground, and they rushed for 296...that's right, 296 yards rushing - hill had 187 on his own

worst display of football, I have ever seen.  I had to leave it was 27-10 SU when I left. I am already sick from the CNU game don't need to be any sicker.  I don't care if they go 2-8.  I came back to greensboro early to see this game.  The fans need to see a better game, from the players and the coaches.  I am disgusted to be fan of the lady lions (Narch because that is what they played like today.)

I never complain about coaches, and the calls that were questionable, wouldn't be if they were executed. They were Gut-zy plays and would have been great completions or TD's, if they were executed correctly. (More on those in second)

One thing I disagreed with was defering to the 2nd half.  GC's wins were when they scored first.  Offense needs to score having the ball first might benefit them.

The Gut-zy plays: (You all decide, again they would have been nice completions if executed)

4th and long in GC's side of the field.  Go out to punt the ball execpt we decide to have our punter throw it.  (Defender was grabbing GC player.  Flag was thrown then the refs waved it off.  I think people were looking for PI.  Ball was uncatchable, if anything defensive holding)

4th and 2.  We come out in I-formation.  Throw the ball 40 yards down the field.  Incomplete.  (SU sent people up the middle.  I thought we were going to throw a slant.  I thought we were going to pass the ball.  Just not 40 yards down the field.)

SU won't win a conference game the rest of the year. Good win for them.

narch

su 36 - gc 10...wow, the pride got handled...shocking - can't wait to see the fallout from this loss - gc qb's picked off 3 times tonight, one for a 95 yard pick 6 - su had 40+ minutes of t.o.p.

narch

su had scored 29 points all season, and scores 36 today...amazing

dude...i'm not trying to pile on here and i'm not trying to be personal, but when gc gets thumped by cnu last week you guys talk about how cnu isn't a top 25 team, then su hammers the pride and you say they won't win another conference game...you might be right on both accounts, but why do you feel the need to belittle the teams that have just crushed yours?

personally, i'd like to say to all the su fans...i was wrong - i didn't think the hornets had enough fight in them to win another game all year - i think your team showed a ton of heart tonight to make a tough road trip to a place that hasn't been kind to them, historically, and win in convincing and dominating fashion - great win for the hornets!

Keys to the Game GC vs SU RECAP

Greensboro

Control the Clock- X- That didn't happen.

Force TO- X- not too sure I don't think they had any.

Have Balanced Offensive Attack- X- Had to pass too much because of the lack of control of the game

SU

Score some points- Yes 36 points

Avoid History- YES- They know they had better teams in the past an lost coming down here. They avoided the past

Hold on to the football- Yes- they were solid tonight

Looks like the keys were on target.

Narch- that comment wasn't to belittle SU.  I didn't want it to sound like that.  I don't think they will win because of who they have left, not because of tonight.

CNU showed today that no lead was safe.  They need to be able to put teams away.  I thought if the game didn't end up as close as it did.  They could have moved up to 7 spots.

One thing that disgusts me the most was that freshman were the ones trying to motivate the team on the sideline.  Most of those freshman were starting freshman.  They should take pride in that, and the upperclassmen should be disgusted with themeselves.

Is CNU back? I think we will really find out this Saturday.  MC has played well the last two weeks, and Mike Hill will test that CNU defense.  The MC qb can run and throw, and he is capable of having a break out game this coming weekend.  I might have to drive up to CNU to catch this game, although my last trip there was an unpleasant 49-0 @$$ whippin.

AdmiralPapi

Looks like it was a good win for the Monarchs!!!

I never complain about coaches, and the calls that were questionable . . . . . . etc.

My dad used to say, "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"
So, I am going to try to restrain myself.

I would agree about the 'worst display' comment, but I've seen a few powder puff games . . . . this ranks close.

I don't think the deferring hurt us that much - our defense held SU on their first possesion, it was just the fumble on the punt return, giving them the ball at the five and SU scored first.

SU's second score was after a blocked punt (special teams killed us) - their first two scores covered a total of 25 yards.

Six (6) turnovers versus zero (0) for SU.

SU just rammed the ball down The Prides throat. [Note: Change The Pride to The Shamed in dictionary] Didn't even act like they were going to throw the ball (4 passes 2 complete for 2 yards) and just beat up on the GC line and linebackers. Beat up!! Thank goodness we have some freshman trying to step up.

OK - losing control - must leave for now . . . .

BTW, SU is such a polished team they only had one penalty all night . . . and PrideGuy - the refs picked up TWO flags that was most definately defensive holding, saying the ball might not have been caught . . . not that it had any real affect on this game.

Anyone know the extent of the injury to Rankins? I certainly hope it wasn't his knee again!

And does anybody know anything about the bandage wrap on the throwing hand of Bacon? That's gotta affect his throwing! IMO

Still think the option would have destroyed SU, but I think I'll pass . . . yeah, that's working . . . especially on 4th downs . . .

OK - losing control - must leave for now . . . . TTYL

OK - I'm still a GC fan . . .still rooting and hoping for good things.  :-\

And I refuse to wear a bag over my head - so far.  ::)

I still think GC has the talent to do so much better, but it will come from the freshman and transfers with new attitudes.  ???

We also have to find a way to overcome injuries - leading rusher Herbin, QB Rankin, now freshman defensive standout, Wooten, looks to be hurt. Those things don't help.  :'(

Who knows, maybe Averett will now take GC for granted (like GC did to SU) and GC can sneak up on them. What's the chance that GC upsets Averett?  Possibility? Pipe Dream?  :-[

game story from the fayetteville observer...ignore the photo of hill...kinda looks like a mug-shot :)

I came in here ready to blow off some more steam, but forgot what I was going to say. Its been a long week/weekend.  My high school team lost two games last week.  GC lost.  Maryland football pulled out a squeaker.  All i have left to keep this weekend from getting any worse is my Ravens beating the Panthers. (That doesn't looked to be easy either.)  This is my favorite time of the year.  In the swing of Football to the start of basketball.

Like we say back in Baltimore,  the Orioles are just there it to help the summer pass until Football season to comes around. We don't count how many games they won, just how many they have left.  ;D

Looks like GC will have another losing football season.
