And the Raven's are favored by 3 at home, so it's a toss up in my book Pride.

CNU85

Carolina beat Baltimore....I bet BBallguy can't wait to go to work in the morning and end this weekend.

I was listening to the pregame show for CNU while doing yard work. I was going to rush in the house and post my prediction, which was 34-10 win by CNU.  I was way off......but I noticed that the GC/SU score was 36-10.....and the week before I predicted a GC loss of 26-0 and the final score was 28-0....maybe I'm just good at predicting a GC loss.

Narch - good point about everytime someone breaks out that can of whoopstuff, a GC fan will say something negative about the can holders. That is just untapped fan potential!  :P

Narch - if you come up, let me know. we gotta meet face to face.....a pregame meal (late breakfast or early lunch) is on me. Anyone know how packed Schooners is before a game? It's going to be homecoming weekend. The crowd at POMOCO should be good.

And what dummy at Maryville scheduled the CNU game for homecoming!!

and my old high school beat my daughter's current school on her homecoming....yesssssss!!!!

85,
From what I understand, Maryville does not even look to see who is on tap for the Scots when Homecoming is determined. Good game by CNU, now hopefully the Scots will realize what it takes to be in the race for a conference championship. Got to give the Scots credit for never quitting, that in my opinion(sp) is one the traits of a team that is competitive on a high level from season to season.

'85 - sounds like you had a pretty good weekend...and the vikes didn't lose, either :)

Although CNU will win the conference.  I wouldn't mind having Maryville represent USASAC in the playoffs.  That team has showed alot of character this season, and showed they won't give up.

I wore black on Friday the 13th.  I think that was my demise for the weekend. :-\

Many schools actually schedule their toughest competition for homecoming, so take it as a compliment rather than slamming them.

Greensboro scheduled Ferrum for homecoming this year, and they were pounded last year by them :-\

CNU85

yeah Narch - I almost mentioned that, too!!!

Highlander - I was listening to the game and thinking....damn, don't those guys know when they've been beat? When you see that in a team, that's a trait instilled by coaches. Maryville will be in the thick of things for years to come....I view MC as I did AU last year.....scary good at times, a little more consistency and look out!!

Pat Coleman

Many places, Homecoming is scheduled by the alumni office and almost everywhere it's determined independent of the football coach.

PrideSportbballGuy where or what is the logic in half your post. One min CNU is not the 21st ranked team in the nation and not going to win the conf. The next min CNU is the best team in the conf but you wouldn't mind seeing the 3-4th placed team in the conf in the playoffs because they have showed they never give up in a game. Don't get me wrong I respect Maryvilles program but they are not doing anything that any other well coached team doesn't do every Sat. And thats NEVER GIVE UP DURING A GAME.F

Anyways good win for the Caps on Sat.

Not going out on a limb but I'm putting it out there Rob Rod for DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AGAIN. That kid always finds a way to make a play for his team in clutch moments.

CNU85

Finest,

I've sensed that other teams are staying far away from RobRod. He doesn't seem to be in the middle of things as much. I think other teams have sent WR out wide to remove him from the play. I haven't seen game films. It just seems that way from the few games I've watched and from the games on radio. Justin Long seems to be the guy all over the place. Even with some mental lapses in play this past weekend I'd have to say he would get my vote for D POTY.

CNU85

Hasa,

Ever since the first time I saw GC take the field, I sensed they wouldn't be competitive with CNU. The first indication I had was that they came out of the locker room for pregame warmups and their jerseys were hanging out of their pants already. I knew we had them beat......Any coach with even ONE OUNCE of discipline wouldn't allow that. It spreads to how they play as well....aren't they the most penalized team in the league?

Just an observation....when I really think about it, I feel bad for the kids....it's not what they signed up for.

Highlander

Thanks Pat- From what I understand that is how it works at most schools. I just was not able to express it like you did. Guess that comes from your time as a SID.
I hope that Maryville will continue to close the gap that is the difference from them becoming one of the elite in this conference ( Like CNU, Methodist, Ferrum, and Averett) I believe from this season Maryville and NCW are at that point.

P.S. Even though our conferences out of conf. records might not show it, I believe that this is a very competitive conf. in the south region.

what I should have said is a team LIKE Maryville.  I think in this conference maryville is the only team to have that fight in them (To be down 42-3 and comeback like that. ) Something a USASAC team hasn't had in the playoffs.

CNU has been my conference favorite since week 3.

Competitive? It was 7-0 CNU at the end of the first half on a blocked punt recovered in the endzone for a TD.  If anything it was the second half.  GC has the tendency not to show up in the second half mostly the 3rd quarter.  (I think that has been the problem since the incepetion of football at GC.)

85 the guy we call Jennifer would be very deserving of the award and is definitely a hat bringing fool. But like you said teams go away from Rob and when they are dumb enough to test him in the clutch. He makes them remember why they threw or ran away from him the whole game.

Really the CNU D and defensive coaches should be DPOY. 1yr they had to replace the dline, the year after that 3 stud lbs, and now the Db's are vets and star players on that side of the ball.

As someone who saw guys highly frustrated with themselves because they were scout team for a while. Its good to see players like Harvey Harper, Matt Downey, and numerous others finally make a name for themselves in CNU's defensive history. Because I know a lot of teams where very happy to see the lbs from last year graduate only to get another punishing year of Captain D. So I tip my cap to Legg and his staff.
