NC High School Football (Southern Alamance) lost a solid coach the other day in the in death of Tony Perrou.  I had the chance to interview with him this summer and he really ran a top notch program.

Think of his family in your prayers.
I saw the story on the internet just about a half hour ago.  It is a sad day for his family and the SAHS program.

that was a special day, and one that i hope every monarch remembers on saturday...mc was purely dominant for an entire half and i hope they realize that they can do the same thing this weekend

CNU85

Narch,

I hope this Saturday that Monarchs everywhere remember LAST YEAR....I hope they want to forget this Saturday for a long time!!! You probaly don't remember the 49-0 game at all, do you?

oh I get it now......the punctuation. Really confused me.

Plus, I never thought of my dog as a resource before!  ;D
I get all my good ideas from my dogs  :D
I get all my good punctuation from my dogs.

Here are two sentences I learned in school to help show the importance of correct punctuation.  I think they're pretty funny.

1) The panda eats shoots and leaves.
2) The panda eats, shoots and leaves.  OMG!  :)

I remember being taught to include a comma before the word "and".....is that not right?

i think both are correct when there is a sequence of 3 or more...i think it's a style issue and either can be used, as long as they are used consistently - but i could be wrong :)

no...when was that  ??? :)

unfortunately, no - i've got a buddy that teaches @ odu and i thought about driving up to hang with him and catch the game, but the wife isn't quite all about that drive for a football game, especially when the monarchs have home games the next few weekends that i plan to attend :)

CNU85

I can understand that!!

I might have to go to the game alone..which is ok, once I get there I know at least 30-40 people, mostly from my church....plus Goose sticks his head out of the press box once in awhile and I reach up and slap him.

I was going to take my neighbor's kid - but he has a soccer game until 1...SOCCER....they're turning him into a wuss!!! My daughter likes soccer guys from her high school...she likes the long hair!!! I was at a social event one day and a soccer punk she liked was there. I made sure he was in earshot when I made a comment to another parent that if I ever caught a soccer player kissing my daughter I was ripping his lips off!!! One soccer guy had the nerve to give my little girl a hug one morning when I dropped her off at school. I told her that night that if I saw him do it again I was parking my truck and jacking him up!!!!

I love being a dad - I get to abuse these boys!!!

last post of the night. I sent the following message to the AD at the University of Miami!!

Subject: Supensions

A one game suspension against Duke????!!!!

OOhhhhh, that'll hurt the program and players involved! You will only win that game by 24 points. Come on, do you realize how ridiculous that's making you look?

It makes me realize how College Football has become a big business. NCAA sports is a farce!

The Student-Athlete is a rare individual at the D1 and 1-AA scholarship level.

What's your graduation rate for the football team in the past 5 years? 10?

I think I'll go watch DIII sports! The integrity is still intact!

I put my name here
Newport News, VA

(and I'm not a Va Tech or UVA alum or fan)

85... I thought you would have trained your daughter better than that  ;D

I would take on anybody.  No matter if one of you guys questioned a player or coach.  Everyone is welcome to thier opinion, but I have come to realize what happens on field between players and coaches happens on the field, not on these boards.  I am going to take a more neutral stand, like i said I was going to do if we lost to CNU.  Go look at my posts.

I am still a pride fan, but I won't jump in and talk about how coaches do or don't do something.

AdmiralPapi

If you can't be a fan in defeat than do be a fan at all!

A fan in defeat moves on to next week, doesn't try to keep the loss until the next game.  (Something I have been very guilty with.)  I know most of you know that.

The trailing comma is not necessary. Some stylebooks might insist on them (in fact, my third grader's teacher does) but in the real world, it's not necessary.

That's also my understanding.  Personally, I choose to not use the comma in this type of sentence.  In this example, of course, the purpose was to illustrate how the comma affects the meaning of the word "shoots."  :)  Can't you just see a panda eating dinner in a restaurant, then firing a .44 at the waiter before leaving the building?  lol
