AU-24 CNU-21  4:30 in the 2nd

cnusfinest54

package deal 85 my girl and 2 other friends r huge dallas fans. we got a 2 night hotel.  meet some cowboy players. and lower level seats 4 a really good price. but I'm checking my pda faithfully 2 keep tabs on my boys.

Leatherhelmet

Wow.

Halftime Averett 31-28.

Who would have picked this??

Go Cougars!

cnusfinest54

wow come on defense 31 pts at home is not acceptable especially at halftime.

Leatherhelmet

CNU up 41-31 with just 30 seconds left.

They just scored.

Averett drove and drove and drove deep in CNU territory but
missed field goals and 4th down opportunities.

Leatherhelmet

Yep, final 41-31.

Both teams must have played hard, wish I could have been there.

i saw the most embarrassing loss in mu history today...way too many turnovers (5 or 6...i lost count), horrible line play, no passion and intensity...embarrassing

i'm going to kick my neighbor's cat around the back yard and then imbibe heavily (it's a joke...i would never kick a cat and tell anyone about it)

Is there a box score.  I listened to it on pridenet I could never tell who had the ball there were so many TO's

I'll make this quick since I'm at work.

Congrats CNU! You guys played an awesome game, and I'm happy to have been able to see it to the finish. Granted, I'm heartbroken right now because my August prediction of an Averett playoff run seems to have slipped away. But I must say that the Captains really earned their reward today. It was a great one. The excitment on both sides of the field really showed.

CNU85 and Riki, it was great to meet both of you today. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Thanks Leagacy. Also, thank the other AU guys at the tailgate. I enjoyed the food and drink(s). Like I said while I was drinking AU beer, "where's the tissues for after the game?"!!!

Great game.....track meet in the first half, then CNU shut down the AU scoring. I was pretty vocal in part of the game....Kelchner made some bonehead errors in the game. His coaching staff really made the adjustments at halftime on defense.

Neither team gave up....great job Cougars....it was a heck of a game!

oh...and since I was so critical about it with Greensboro....some of the CNU defensive players (D-line especially) came out in the 2nd half with shirt tails hanging out.......and one of them ran into the game and jumped off side on a 4th and 1......ahem.......discipline fellas!!!!

Oh, and narch, you had mentioned on the pick-ems board that I should have included Jeff Hugley from Averett among the potential players of the year. You are absolutely correct. His first two TD catches were amazing today. This was the first time I'd seen him play in person, and he is no doubt one of the conference's best players.

I want to congratulate every CNU fan on here. You had to be there to appreciate the game. Everyone in the stadium got their monies worth. Until the final minute this game could have gone in any direction. I was very impressed with the size of the CNU team and the offense.

I will go ahead and wish you luck against Ferrum. From what I saw today I don't see you having any problems with them next week.

Both teams played outstanding football today and though many have said Averett wasn't at the level of CNU or other conference teams, I believe they proved to a lot of folks on both sides of the field today that they
can play.

I will say this too, I think CNU has a fantistic campus and your facilities are first class.

Again, congrats to CNU for a great victory and good luck with the rest of your season.

I think there was 11 total TO's in the GC-MU game today.
