I would have to agree that they are makin the bid for preseason #1 in the conf. I dont think we will take a beating next week. We might loose but i dont think it will be that bad it will be a close one

Im gonna have to disagree with you on that one GCGullett. NC Wesleyan is very good, you say what they did to CNU and Ferrum. Trust me, if 20 points is close, than Im Pope  Benedict.

WHAT A WEEKEND. THE CAPTAINS SHUT OUT THE MIGHTY COUGARS IN THE SECOND HALF TO CONTROL THE USA SOUTH AND MY REDSKINS WON A THRILLER AT FED-EX. BOY O BOY 40 YARD LOWER LEVEL SEATS ARE REAL NICE IN A RIVALRY GAME.  AND IT WAS NICE TO RIDE THE BUS BACK TO THE MARRIOTT WITH VERY PISSED OFF COWBOY FANS INCLUDING THE GIRL FRIEND.

FINISH THE JOBS CAPS AND I'LL POST LATER ABOUT MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME THAT WAS.

POMOCO  ;D ;D ??? I TOLD YOU AU FANS. ;)

picks and prediction time

mu 31 - gc 14 - mike hill, mike hill and more mike hill...then sprinkle in a little brandon parks - the monarchs will control this game and go 1-0 as methodist university :)

Sooooo . . .what happened?   ::)

the monarchs played like...well, they played very poorly

Quote from: D3Newbie on November 04, 2006, 10:54:19 PM
Now, if The Pride are the lady lions, what does that make the Monarchs?  :P
a team that couldn't beat a bunch of lady lions

Quote from: D3Newbie on November 04, 2006, 10:54:19 PMnarch - I was very impressed with your campus and facilities. It was unusuall to have both school's fans on the same side of the field, but I found your fans to be very agreeable.  My compliments to your fans - someplace else might have been a little more irate to visitors who win at homecoming a game no one thought they would even be able to compete.  8)
yeah, a friend actually overheard a couple of gc fans complaining about our stadium, talking about how "small-time" it was...funny coming from a fan of a team that plays in a high school stadium - i'm glad to hear you were treated well...sometimes i wonder if our fans care enough to get irate, though, and yesterday was no exception - it's time that mc got some moveable bleachers and put them behind the visitors bench, though - it's just a matter of time before someone reacts to something being said, and something bad happens

a couple of observations, having had some time to cool off (a little):

torrey lowe is outstanding, and the gc coaches have done a great job utilizing him creatively...i wish the monarch coaches had decided to use bartee similarly because i think he'd be dangerous if used that way, but i saw him playing some defense, so i think his days on offense are numbered

#77 is huge...one of the biggest guys i've ever seen on a d3 football field - our o-line really struggled blocking anyone yesterday, especially him - #56 is pretty good, too - i was shocked at how ineffective our run game was and how much difficulty our guys had with the gc d-line - i heard that gc might blitz a lot, but i rarely saw more than 4 guys rushing - if you can't block 3 or 4 with 5, it makes for a long day, and that's what happened yesterday

the monarchs didn't tackle at all yesterday...they routinely got penetration and made contact in the backfield...and gc runners routinely shook off those arm tackles and gained positive yardage - i've never seen the monarchs tackle worse

on the other hand, the monarch runners seemed to go down at first contact - i know mike hill is a little banged up, but he just didn't look like himself yesterday...for that matter, nobody did - hill is usually a guy who runs very hard, despite his small frame, but he just didn't seem to have that fire yesterday - on the whole, i haven't seen a team that flat in a LONG time

parks threw some really bad balls - all of his picks yesterday were on poorly thrown balls or on really bad decisions - i'm sure prideguy and gullett will talk about how great the pride secondary is, but geez, i could have caught some of the balls thrown to them yesterday...the game seemed a little fast for him at times yesterday - i still like his potential a lot, though - what i especially liked was the way he led the team the last few series...he really showed some poise and came out trying to do everything he could to win that game after having such a horrible game for the first 3 quarters...it just fell a bit short  - long-term, the monarchs will be in good shape at qb with brandon parks...he's going to be a good one

honestly, yesterday was the worst that i've seen the monarchs play in at least 5 to 7 years...just pitiful football...yet they still had a chance to win the game at the end - tells you something about gc - while they were better than the monarchs yesterday, neither of those teams was very good - it was the type of game that makes you want to ask for a refund (especially if you're a fan on the losing end)

here is the game story from the fayetteville observer

Wow!!! This is really interesting the Monarchs get beat by the Pride and Newbie calls out Narch and the Narch just disapears. I guess he is at home sitting on his pad trying to relive the pain in his backside from the other day. HERE NARCY, NARCHY, NARCHY where you at boy....lol....just a little humor but anyway great win for the Pride

Hey Pride its still MC till Jan 1....lol....so we did go 2-0 against the MC's
gullett - sorry, i had some family obligations, but i'm back, just over 24 hours later...it's a little different than the hiatus you took - i figured you'd be back, though, if/when gc won again - typical fair-weather fan :)

and it's actually been mu since wednesday - the name change was "from this day forward" according to the mc/mu president - it will certainly take some time to change things like letterhead and print publications, etc., but those changes are already taking place, full-speed ahead

lastly, i'm not your boy...never have been, never will be - we can be chums on a message board and we can pick and poke at each other, but i'm clearly not your boy

i'm sure you mean hole, right?

i typically go mobile if the kids & wife will allow (which they did yesterday) - i kind of like moving around to get the best possible view of the play - if the kids aren't down for moving around, i try to find a flat spot in the grass somewhere and let the kids run around a little bit...that isn't the ideal way to watch a game, but it's better than not watching at all, and they're too young/full of energy to sit in the stands

papi - no bubbly yesterday...nothing on that field to celebrate

WC - what is the link to the pictures....I have tried all night to click on Photo Galaries on the D3Sports.com home page and keep getting nothing.

Sorry didn't get over to your tail gate party, a friend of ours whose daughter plays field hockey for CNU went to the game with us and she directed me to the "N" lot and after I got there and got set up, I wasn't sure which way to walk to get to you. Plus I wasn't expecting that cold wind and all I thought about was staying warm.

I would like to meet you and 85 some day, maybe next year we can connect in Danville.

The pics aren't posted yet. I think the phlog goes up around midweek, so you'll have to wait till then.

We had a good crowd for the tailgate. It's too bad you couldn't make it over. I'll certainly bank on another opportunity down the road, though.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Eh-You

Sorry for the delay folks, I made a road trip out of the weekend and just got back. Congrats to the CNU guys. Everything about that place and that team is 1st class. #1 & #2 are the best offensive players that AU has seen this year. The way they use #1 is a huge credit to the CNU coaching staff. The POMOCO atmosphere is playoff-esque and AU got beat by the better team. Go Ferrum!
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)
