Sorry for the delay folks, I made a road trip out of the weekend and just got back. Congrats to the CNU guys. Everything about that place and that team is 1st class. #1 & #2 are the best offensive players that AU has seen this year. The way they use #1 is a huge credit to the CNU coaching staff. The POMOCO atmosphere is playoff-esque and AU got beat by the better team. Go Ferrum!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Like your avatar, Eh-you!  LOL, ROTFLMAO

Beat Maryville and get your Co-Champs rings! :)

WCLegacy - great picture, you got the right one. Thanks.

Dang....GC wins and Gullet comes out of the woodwork like a cockroach! Does your boss know you're posting?

Kickerdad.....I'll try to post the link. I looked at it online and did a copy/paste of the quotes......I'm too lazy to have read it and then keyed it in the post.

or you can try going to dailypress.com....search the site for CNU and you'll get 2 articles from Jennifer. It's in one of them...not sure which one.

Legacy...great pic...I'll look forward to the rest. (dude...go digital!!)  ;D

I don't know what to say.  I thought the whole year CNU was the best team.  (I never once said GC was going to win the conference, but I did say they weren't going to finish last.  I believe I did say 4 or 5 though, can't remeber and 5th could be where they end up 6th too.)

After the AU-GC game I told Legacy AU was the best team.
NCWC proves it by beating CNU.
CNU then beats AU.
So who is the best team in the conference? CNU or AU?

I am up in the air on the pick.  CNU was my pick the whole year.  I think I will stick with that.  What's the postseason look like? 2 teams or 1?

Pretty easy question about who the best team is after Saturday. No question CNU. Also no question that CNU is the only team to get a playoff bid.

How's this for a terrible loss - AU goes from outright champion possibility to possibly finishing in a 3 way tie for second - all in one week!
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

I agree with everyone, i think CNU wins the bid to the playoffs, however there could be an at large bid for averett because of the strength of their schedule. Averett just couldnt convert in the redzone on saturday and has anyone mentioned that hughley could be the best reciever in the conference.

As for the monarchs game with the pride, terrible execution. The defense played well, lowe is a good football player. When a team has 5 turnovers, you really dont win the ballgame anyways. But GC had their fare share, and so did methodist. I hope they can go up to shentel and come away with a win. Just a little insight for Monarch fans however. If anyone remembers roncketti's freshman year, he threw for 18 int's. Look what happened with him later on, he was PLAYER OF THE YEAR. Parks looks pretty good and can move pretty well outside the pocket. Remember people he is a freshman. H e did throw into double coverage, he did try to make plays and force the ball, but hell, thats what a QB does. He will get better and be a hell of a player for the monarchs in the future.

Legacy...after the first half, I would say CNU dominated...outscored AU 13-0...moved the ball well...and not only shutout AU, but also held them to just 112 yards......I think it's all relative.....when compared to the first half, I would say that wa a complete shutdown of AU......either way I'll take the W.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of talk considering the amount of big games this weekend. I know it is a long shot, but there could possibly be a four way tie for conference champs. Just for grins and giggles what would the tie- braker or tie- brakers be if that happens? I believe that whoever represents the USASAC will be a positive reflection of the level of football played in our conference.

Hey Eh- You- Nov. 11 sure matters to the Scots as well as I hope it matters to the Cougars. That way the game could turn out to be a classic USASAC game with maybe conference championship implications.

How about some tie-breaker info, guys?

Situation 1
Ferrum > CNU
Maryville > Averett
Greensboro > NC Wesleyan

CNU, Maryville, Averett all 5-2.  CNU has wins over the other two.  What's the tie-breaker?

Situation 2
Ferrum > CNU
Maryville > Averett
NC Wesleyan > Greensboro

CNU, Maryville, Averett, NCW all 5-2.  What's the tie-breaker story?
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

cnu because of head-to-head vs. mc and au

cnu again - cnu and mc would be 2-1 in head-to-head vs. the other 3 teams, while ncwc and au would be 1-2...the 2nd level of tie break between mc and cnu would be the head-to-head win by cnu vs. mc

i believe the only situation in which cnu would NOT be the usasac rep is if au beats mc and cnu loses to fc...highly unlikely, but could happen

this isn't exactly football, but here is a story from the saturday fayetteville observer that chronicles the rise of mu athletics...interesting read, and lots of talk about the start of the monarch football program

Highlander

+1 for Narch, thanks for the info. Even if Maryville might not have a chance to represent the conference it would still be a great accompliment to have a chance to be named co- champs. Maryville's players seem to be understanding the level of commitment it takes to be competitive. I hope that they are able to use this season as a building block to become a consistent top level team in the conference, and then proceed to becoming a player on the national scene. But, it is important that they become consistent in all aspects of their program. At this level retention and off- season work-outs as well as being able to recruit are tremendously important. May everyone play injury- free this weekend.

Things have been slow on here since yesterday, so I'll just throw some stats and stuff out there for people to ponder.

I was looking through the conference stat lists, trying to get an idea of who would be candidates for year-end awards and other recognition. And one thing I noticed is that the Bishops are going to be stacked next year. None of their playmakers on offense are seniors this year, which means they'll likely have all their big guns back next season. Take a look.

Quarterback
Cedric Townsend (JR): No. 1 in conference in passing yards with 1,977 and passing TDs with 14; averaging 219 yards per game; No. 6 in pass efficiency.

Running Back
Teron Bush (FR): No. 5 in conference in rushing yards; averaging 8.9 yards per carry and 72.4 yards per game.

Receivers
Shel Leverette (SO): No. 3 in conference in receptions with 38; No. 2 in yards per game with 70.1; has 631 total receiving yards.
Mich Gilliam (JR): No. 7 in receptions with 24; No. 6 in yards per game with 49; has 441 total receiving yards.
Orlando Webb (FR): No. 9 in receptions with 20; No. 3 in yards per game with 62.6; has 501 total receiving yards.

Both of the freshmen I've mentioned are strong candidates to be the USA South's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Does this team's potential next year scare anyone else?   :o

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Narch and Papi
Sorry about your team. A team does not lose a "Rocket" and go 9-1 but I thought they would do much better.

Papi that was not bubbly. that was Jack he had
