Things have been slow on here since yesterday, so I'll just throw some stats and stuff out there for people to ponder.

I was looking through the conference stat lists, trying to get an idea of who would be candidates for year-end awards and other recognition. And one thing I noticed is that the Bishops are going to be stacked next year. None of their playmakers on offense are seniors this year, which means they'll likely have all their big guns back next season. Take a look.

Quarterback
Cedric Townsend (JR): No. 1 in conference in passing yards with 1,977 and passing TDs with 14; averaging 219 yards per game; No. 6 in pass efficiency.

Running Back
Teron Bush (FR): No. 5 in conference in rushing yards; averaging 8.9 yards per carry and 72.4 yards per game.

Receivers
Shel Leverette (SO): No. 3 in conference in receptions with 38; No. 2 in yards per game with 70.1; has 631 total receiving yards.
Mich Gilliam (JR): No. 7 in receptions with 24; No. 6 in yards per game with 49; has 441 total receiving yards.
Orlando Webb (FR): No. 9 in receptions with 20; No. 3 in yards per game with 62.6; has 501 total receiving yards.

Both of the freshmen I've mentioned are strong candidates to be the USA South's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Does this team's potential next year scare anyone else?   :o

On the topic of who should be voted where.  I hope you all go out and do your duty and VOTE TODAY!!!  I am registered in MD, so i have an absentee ballot to go fill out some time today.  If any of you have kids encourage them to do the Kids Voting, instill the demorcatic process in them early will pay off in the long run. Ok I will step off my soap box now.

I agree with everyone, i think CNU wins the bid to the playoffs, however there could be an at large bid for averett because of the strength of their schedule. Averett just couldnt convert in the redzone on saturday and has anyone mentioned that hughley could be the best reciever in the conference.

As for the monarchs game with the pride, terrible execution. The defense played well, lowe is a good football player. When a team has 5 turnovers, you really dont win the ballgame anyways. But GC had their fare share, and so did methodist. I hope they can go up to shentel and come away with a win. Just a little insight for Monarch fans however. If anyone remembers roncketti's freshman year, he threw for 18 int's. Look what happened with him later on, he was PLAYER OF THE YEAR. Parks looks pretty good and can move pretty well outside the pocket. Remember people he is a freshman. H e did throw into double coverage, he did try to make plays and force the ball, but hell, thats what a QB does. He will get better and be a hell of a player for the monarchs in the future.

I wouldn't hold my breath on AU getting a bid. As a USA South fan, I would love to see them get one. Not likely though.  :(

ABN, if it was Jim, Jack, or Jerry it would be fine by me.  I think Narch like's to add a slice of lime to his drink, probably to fight off scurvy!!!  ;D

Those guys are even more impressive when you look at their conference only stats (to normalize the difference between out of conference schedules):

Quarterback
Cedric Townsend (JR): No. 1 in conference in passing yards with 1,977 and passing TDs with 14; averaging 219 yards per game; No. 6 in pass efficiency.

conference only stats - #1 in yardage with 212.5 ypg, 8 td (#2)/4 int (#2), 52.5% comp, 132.0 eff rating (#3) - by far the best in conference numbers in my mind

Running Back
Teron Bush (FR): No. 5 in conference in rushing yards; averaging 8.9 yards per carry and 72.4 yards per game.

conference only stats - 103.5 ypg (#2), 9.3 ypc (#1 by a long shot), 5 td

Receivers
Shel Leverette (SO): No. 3 in conference in receptions with 38; No. 2 in yards per game with 70.1; has 631 total receiving yards.
conference only - 3.83 rpg (#3), 312 yds
Mich Gilliam (JR): No. 7 in receptions with 24; No. 6 in yards per game with 49; has 441 total receiving yards.
conference only - 2.83 rpg (#6), 348 yds, 4 tds
Orlando Webb (FR): No. 9 in receptions with 20; No. 3 in yards per game with 62.6; has 501 total receiving yards.
conference only - 53.7 ypg (#5)

if those guys stay in school....yes

NCWC could be the pride of the conference the next few years.  The school is in a pretty good area for HS talent and if they become part of the UNC system down the road, watch out!

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Umm, no.  It will be a cold day in you-know-where before a team with no quality wins and three losses of any stripe gets a Pool C bid.

Strength of Schedule doesn't mean a thing if all you do is lose to the good teams.

AdmiralPapi

Gonna have to agree with BfB on that one.  USASAC will only be sending one team to the playoffs this season.  AU strength of schedule was great but they don't have the quality wins necessary to get a Pool C bid.

NCW scares me to death for next year! The winner of the CNU/NCW game next year will win the conference outright! I've watched a few of the NCW players whent hey were in high school since many are from around here! Too bad they didn't meet CNU academic standards when they were being recruited!!

Bill McCabe

CNU85, what did you think of the playoff projections having CNU come to UMHB?

CNU85

Bill,

a few thoughts crossed my mind:

1st - We gotta beat Ferrum on Saturday ....take care of bidness, then worry about playoffs
2nd - As long as CNU is in, the rest is out of thier control as to who/where they play...if they're playing - I'm happy

I sound like a coach, huh?

3rd - If we go to UMHB the playoff run is over - UMHB will not allow themselves to lose...they'll be ticked off and at home in the playoffs!!! I don't like it (now I sound like a fan!!).

CNU85

Legacy - very nice photos....I'm pushing a sale for you on pic #15!! I'll keep you posted!

Is Saturday a game you should win?  It is strange to have a rematch right off the bat, especially since the schools are so far apart distance wise.  Good luck Saturday.
