We'll see real quick if NCWC is for real when they go to Wesley to open the 2008 season.

I was once a kickers dad....now I get to watch everyone elses kids. Which is so much more enjoyable at a wrestling match....
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

With regards to NCWC playing Wesley.......been there done that. With regards to being a kickers dad......these past two years have been up and down...Being a kickers dad certainly will cause "Heart Burn" and everything else that makes you quiver, shake, happy and upset... However we have been doing this since he was a freshman in high school and one of the coachs at Penn State where he went to camp for 3 years said...Kickers are in a world of thier own. If they miss don't say a word to them...they have to deal with it themselves. They will miss (even simple extra points) but don't get on them during a game, wait till the practice sessions. Trying to keep their heads together is tuff. Mine has had his ups and downs but his first two years have had their rewards. Kind of like you, I rather watch someone's else son at times.

Looks good on paper, but here's how the Pride will go "down" on turf ...

Sept. 8   @ UNC Pembroke     Win over a new program  I agree
Sept. 15  @ Gallaudet University Win over a "new" program I agree
Sept. 22   @ Maryville College, TN * Loss, tough one on the road  I agree
Sept. 29  Guilford College  Big win over a rival  Not!  Quakers have Vogelbach, Pride do not
Oct. 6  Christopher Newport University *  Tight loss to a good program  Probably
Oct. 13  Shenandoah University  Big bounceback win  Probably
Oct. 20  Averett University #  Courgars not king of the jungle  "Courgars" are not in Ohio, they'll be king of this jungle
Oct. 27  @ Ferrum College *   Win, O outscores the option  Road game - Pride lose
Nov. 3  Methodist College *  Win Maybe
Nov. 10 North Carolina Wesleyan College * Win  NCWC will probably be one of the better teams in the USASAC - I don't see it

4-6, 2-5 Tied for 5th

I agree with all scream says, except I think they beat Maryville.  8)

hasanova - Volgelbach had trouble beating the two-headed freak last year (dual QBs - my dad used to say anything with two heads was a freak - you gotta have a leader) and I think with consistent offensive leadership there will be a difference.  Voglebach is good, but so is the returning Pride QB - and with some outstanding receivers.  (Pride has Lowe, Quakers do not)   ;D

The Pride offense will be more balanced than Guilly's - good running AND good passing.  :P

I'm hoping a new offensive coach will relieve some of the pressure off of the HC. Mitchell did a great job with what he had, but I think they missed the OC who left before the season began.  :-\

newbie, I hope you know a lot of what I wrote was in good-natured fun, but I honestly don't see the Pride going 8-2.  I've been at all ten Souper Bowls and the last two, in particular, were intense.  The Pride certainly have some great offensive weapons, but I think the Quakers will pull it out again.  Good luck to Greensboro (except on September 29)!  :)  Peace

You forgot to mention his three blocked punts and two blocked FG attempts, one of which he caught on the fly and ran in for a score.  :)  Thanks for the laugh - good fun.   lol

I think Maryville may be the biggest mystery call. Last year almost everyone else was working with a new QB while the Scots had experience at signal-caller in Price that certainly asserted itself the middle of the season. But now MC (they do get to use it now since Methodist is now MU right?) will be breaking in a new face.
Not that the options back there are bad but they will be new. Scots can lean on the running game to a a point with Hightower being the playmaker he is but the QB is vital in that offense. The top three contenders can all run but they aren't as elusive as Price so far.
Bottom line is the team took a step forward last year but to be considered more than one-year wonder they have to have a similar season this year which is tough with a sophomore or freshman at the helm.
"Do the write thing."

Highlander

Such a pleasure to see some great discussion about USA South football. Interesting viewpoints have been brought up. Here is my two cents- I think that the winner of the conf. this year will have at least one or two losses due to the improvement of the teams from top to bottom. If you look at the majority of the teams from last year- most played with some youth at key positions, now if those youthful players can become game- changers then I believe that the conf. might not be decided until the last weekend of the season.
Next Question: How much do you think that Spring practice helps, even though teams are not allowed to use pads?
