Well the USA South has never had a team go underfeated in conference I don't think.  But you are correct in saying that from top to bottom the conference has been much improved.  There are no gimme weekends in the USA South anymore.

ABN...you still out there...I was doing some training with some of your boys the other day!

Cowboys sitting at 4-4!

I read a news article the other day about nc wes getting shotdown to be unc rocky mount.  Bowels said that education in rocky mount was not a priority "way messed up" ..

Again its been a while since I have been on here.  Just wanted to let everyone know if it hasn't been known already about the Greensboro Revolution.

There are currently to USASouth former players on the team.

Terrance Moore of Methodist and Tyrelle Lee of Greensboro.

There are also 3 coaches that either graduated from Greensboro College or coached at Greensboro College.

Revolution website http://www.niflrevolution.com/index.asp

They are currently 2-0

If Greensboro goes 4-6 and loses to Methodist??? Well, I really wouldn't care.  I only have a limited rooted interest in GC, just a curious observer.

Well at least they can use a football now.
God was that rule ever a laugher. Yes you can have spring practice you just cant have helmet, pads or a football involved. ???

Having seen most of the fields now that MC has hosted and played everyone over the last two seasons, discounting the shrine at CNU who has the best/worst gridiron facilities for game day?

I rank them in this order

Playing fields:                          Stadiums:

1. Maryville                           1. CNU
2. CNU                                  2. Maryville
3. Methodist                         3. Shenandoah
4. NCWC                               4. Ferrum
5. Ferrum                              5. Tie - NCWC & Greensboro (city stadiums)
6. Greensboro                       6. Methodist  (no visitor side seats)
7. Shenandoah                     7. Averett (make shift)
8. Averett

It was 2005 when I saw Maryville, Ferrum and Greensboro, a lot could have happened since then.

I know that the Averett folks that read this, especially players and coaches will tar and feather me, but Averett is the worst of the worst.  Kept too wet, the turf is not tight at all.  The soccer team plays on the field and tears it up in addition to the football team. Chowan has a better field than Averett. Hopefully they have made some adjustments this spring and summer.

I have only seen Maryville, Ferrum, and Averett so will have to take your word on the others. Without a doubt MC has the best playing field and stadium. This hasn't always been the case. As an alum, I am very proud of the improvements made in the last 5 years or so. Not only to the athletic facilities but the campus in general has looked great the last few trips down.  GO SCOTS!!  8)

I've been to four of the USASAC stadiums.  Greensboro still plays at Grimsley HS, which is a fairly nice high school field that seats 10,000.  The field gets a lot of play from Grimsley with football, the East/West all-star game (the NC HS coaches association is next door), men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer.  Then Pride football takes its toll.  It's really GCP's only option unless they build something on campus (where they have no space!).  Methodist is on campus and very accessible from parking, but it is a little odd that all the seats are on one side.  Ferrum's field fits the terrain and takes advantage of the hillside.  It's actually a pretty place to see a game.  Averett disappointed me last fall.  I knew they had a  sports complex separate from the rest of the campus and I was, well, expecting better stands.  The fieldhouse looked nice, but the stands were downright weird and the landscaping looked bare.  It looked like someone dumped out a child's erector set and wherever the parts landed they put up a tiny little bleacher.  I counted about five or six small sets of home stands that were all very disjointed.  Your best bet on the visitor side is to bring your own lawn chair.  I'm sorry, but it just looked and seemed odd.

I have a friend on the coaching staff at Averett. The last time we chatted a few months back, I think I recall him saying they were trying to raise money for improvements. They do have a nice complex there with lots of parking and room but the football field/stadium does need a little work. Guess these things do take time.

Hey, allsky.  No question about it, Averett does have a nice facility and they have, indeed, made great strides.  I guess I was just a little surprised at how football was set up.  It does take time - and money - and they'll get there!   AU really has accomplished a lot in a relatively short period of time, so I give credit where credit is due.

The one I can't recall exactly is where the teams have to walk through a tunnel under I-81 to get to the field from the locker rooms. I'm having brain freeze on which game that was. But it was unique. I think the teams stay on the field during halftime because walking back and forth would take longer than halftime lasts.
I liked CNU for parking and the stadium is pretty incredible for D3, but the online directions need to be updated to reflect the change in the roads in the area since they were written.
But of the ones I've seen I must say MC has the only field where its tradition for some to park behind the end zone in what I think is technically off campus but not sure and be able to pop a top or five to watch the games.
The fact soccer has its own field at Maryville (now with lights) makes a huge impact on the quality of the field. The overusage of field issue showed up last year at the Titans Stadium where it was in rough shape after hosting NFL plus Tenn State's home gams, a few lawn concerts in late summer.

I've never been to Shenandoah, but it's the only USASAC school that could be even remotely close to I-81.
