kickers are lame people.

Just curious, did Methodist refer to Pat Larkin as "lame" and/or did Greensboro refer to Chris Palme as "lame".  I believe they were two of the best kickers in the conference during thier 4 year careers.

You're right, they are a different breed.  Everyone "kneads" a good kicker.  :)

Hey kicker, you are probably wasting your breath. These guys slamming kickers probably play defense. They aren't smart enough to play O so certainly aren't smart enough to understand what you are saying.  ;D Worse yet, they are probably DB's. You know how THOSE guys are!! Always having to prove themselves.  ;D ;D
Ok, before they get bent out of shape, I better splain that I am just kidding and having a little fun with them.  ;) We always had a little fun with the O vs D rivalry and poking jabs at each other but in the end we went to battle together as one. In college, I only kicked so you are right, kickers do get treated a little differently. I even had a teamate take a cheap shot at me in practice one day. I did play other positions in HS, and yes, even played D, so I understand.  :o

     Hey Hasa.....that's pretty good.   :o

I'd be willing to bet that the 1982 Tiger football team didn't treat Hiter Harris as an outsider. If my memory serves me, he won every single ODAC game with FG's. I know he was ODAC player of the year.  8) He was even one of them darn side winding soccer types.  :D

Damn, you mean we have to know how to spell in order to post on these boards. If that is the case, then Coleman needs to add spell check ASAP.

Fairy Funny.

A few people are really defensive about kickers.

Deon Warrick hit it dead on.  I am a former DB.

Nah, you don't have to know how to spell, but you do have to know we're just having a little good-natured fun.  :)   To paraphrase the old saying, "pass for show and "kick" for dough."  I'm truly with you - a competent kicker makes a good football team a great football team!

You are right, I did get a little too defensive. I will do better. I apoligize if I offended anyone. I see you guys picking at each other all the time and I should have known better.

Kicker, you will have to work much harder to offend me.  :'( I dish it but I can take it too. I'm probably harder on myself than anyone else is.  :o  After many years as a teacher and drug/alchohol counselor, I have pretty thick skin. I sometimes forget that maybe everyone doesn't. Hanging on these boards is educational but also entertaining to me.  8)
allsky7 is out of everyones hair until Monday. Have a good weekend all.  GO TIGERS!! Oops...wrong board.  :-[

Make sure your kicker doesn't take on a linebacker and up man thirty yrds from the action. One ACL and miniscus reconstruction later. The play made the bounty bowl incident with good ole Buddy Ryan look tame...and is still a scene I replay often.
The story has a happy ending as this kid became a all-conference kicker and pitcher and made ABCA all-Mid Atlantic  pitcher

I think that in many ways kickers and punters are overlooked because they can often affect outcomes of games in ways that do not always get seen by the normal fan. One important way is by field position, give me a kicker or punter who can dominate and control the field any day of the week. By  the way, look back at the play by plays from last season and see just how much of an impact that field position played in the outcomes of games. I was a kicker/punter at a D3 school who also played offensse and defense in high school.

So get me up to speed, what is the discussion these days?  I am excited for the football season to get rolling, now that the NFL draft is over.  I think the NFL draft of all professional sports is probably the best timed draft.  It marks around the middle of the offseason.  I think it help builds up anticipation for the next season.  Not like the NBA or MLB. Not enough rest between the seasons.
