"When I lived in Central Pennsylvania, a lot of people thought Joe Paterno was washed up.  He may or may not be, but he's still got his priorities straight.  Thought you all would enjoy seeing this, and good for Joe Pa!"

Found this on one of the other conference posts this morning by Josh Bowerman and was just as impressed as he. I had  the opportunity to go to Penn State on 3 occassions to take my son to Kicking Camp put on by the Penn State coaches and it is just a first class organization. The people at State College love Paterno to death and he is a first class act.
It was told that Joe walks from his home to the stadium on game days and on any given Sunday afternoon you can find him at Walmart just standing around talking to the the home folks.

JP is and always has been a class act. Not only could the coaching ranks use more like him, too bad we can't find 535 like him to send to Washington.  8)

Thanks for the link.  I appreciate Coach Paterno's actions.

I am curious as to how much trash (in total trash volume, e.g., # of dumpsters,) is removed by the players in 2007 versus 2006 numbers to see if there is an impact on the PSU fans.

Ralph,

Don't know the answer to your question, but considering the fact that Beaver Stadium (Penn State) is the 2nd largest stadium in the country (next to Michigan) and will hold over 107,500 people, I would say there is a "Ton" of garbage after each game.

I agree, Coach Paterno is an outstanding guy. This speaks alot of his character and how he feels about the school he has worked at for all these years. It would have been very easy to just have the "let it go" attitude and act as if it never happened. I think this will make a difference in how people look at the Nitny Lions this season. Pa has ran a clean program up there for years, and you have never really heard of anything going on up there, but by gosh when it does it is handled well.

GO MONARCHS!! 2005 Conference Champs!

I remember my Dad, while in graduate school at PSU, losing his keys in Beaver Stadium after a tough PSU loss to Texas A&M in 1979.  It only held a little bit over 80,000 at the time, but good luck finding them.

After attending PSU/Michigan game last season, if Joe Pa really wants to stick it too his players, have them clean up the parking areas.

When did Beaver become number two on the list? I thought Neyland and Michigan had been having a _ _ _ _ing contest over that honor for years.  Guess the architects in Knoxville will have to get busy and figure out how they can increase the size of Neyland. They have to be the biggest you know? ;D

According to the Penn State web site and the grape vine, Tennessee is 3rd. Penn State holds officially a little more than 3000 more than Tennessee. Their web page says the largest crowd on record was against Nebraska in 2002 and that was 110,753, Michigans largest is 111,502.
That is a lot of trash to have to clean up by any standards.

     Thanks for the info.
My dad and I were talking about the issue of the PSU players having to pick up the trash. We were joking (or not) that perhaps some of the upper class leaders of the team might privately tell the 15 that brought this on that they better have the stadium cleaned before Sunday AM when the rest of the team and Coach Pa arrived. If they didn't about 60 or 70  tired and sore guys might be doing a little butt whooping.  ;D

Just wondering..... Who is the new Christopher Newport Defensive Coordinator? It may be a huge blow for the Captains to lose David Legg to Richmond. I have heard that there has been three interviewed. Any news?

???

HSWHO....I see you're getting in some early scouting. I haven't heard a word about coaching changes. I'm sure the CNU website will post something the day it happens.
