We need to add another team to the conference maybe then we could have less co-champs.  Key word is could.  We could do that and maybe throw in a conference championship game.

One for you...........I do hate their home uniforms at GC. Look better in white

The dumbest looking uniforms belong(ed) to Chowan. Didn't anyone tell them that the helmets didn't match the blue in the uniform?

GC uniforms are ok...if they're tucked in...sloppy....tuck them in and they win 1 more game a year. I won't go there again!

I don't think the USAC schools would be interested in giving up a regular season game so that two schools could play a championship game.

Please don't go there again.  GC will be wearing ALL white at home. Maybe it will just blend in and people won't worry if it is tucked in or not.

Pat-
We could always add games like d1  ;D

If conference championships keep getting cancelled with no make-up, might as well say there is one and not play it all ;D. (I understand why it happened, but don't like that it did.)

Pat,

Did I see where Pat Cummings is leaving D3Football? If so who will be writing the articles this year for your All Around the Region (Mid Atlantic). I really enjoy reading those every week.

Pat Coleman

Ryan Tipps, who wrote the USA South preview for Kickoff this past season and was part of our coverage of the Stagg Bowl, will write Around the Mid-Atlantic this season.

I played from 00-03.  We were always coached to keep our jerseys tucked in.  The old jerseys were pretty long and they got pulled out from time to time but that happens.

No football to talk about...  but there's really been no football to talk about at SU for the last two years anyways. :o

I just checked out the "Future of DIII" board and I'm curious:  what do you guys think about realignment of a possible DIII & DIV?

Not that it really matters what I think, but I will give you my thoughts on this.

I have already supported that fact that everyone should at least try to play a sport in college.  If they don't do well then they can always quit. I also think it is a good idea to add sports to help with enrollment.  With that said you would think that I would be in favor of a DIV, but I am not.  I don't think giving the lower tier teams another division will be benefical to the student athlete. There are already so many restrictions on athletes at the DIII level (scholarships, redshirting, etc.) that what else would you have to restrict at the DIV level.  If people argue that at the d3 level that is about education( which I do agree with) what is left for the DIV level.  Still getting the education, but your just not talented enough to compete at a higher level.

There are quite a few teams d3 that are better than some DII schools.  I think with a DIV school those teams are just intramural teams in an organized national league.  I don't know how I would convice a player to go play d4.  A coach would have to go look at bench players, that don't even play.  That is hardly recruiting and just doesn't make much sense.

Pat Coleman

I don't think we'll see too many sports added solely as a result of splitting Division III into two groups. It's likely that the more restrictive group will have a higher minimum level of sports than D-III currently has, but I think the schools that choose to join that group already have the 16 or so sports that would likely be required.

There may be some but I don't know if there will be a large net gain.

I can't think if any poems, and I have no crazy formulas to throw out there.  I do have a few questions though and I hope it sparks some board activity.

Which team is poised to surpise some people?  Which team is poised to really disappoint? (this with knowing what teams are expected to return.)

No bias here  ;D but the Fighting Scots may be "poised" to make a run at the conference title this year. The last few years they have lost quite a few games by small margins. If they can get those games to go their way this year, watch out.
The Scots offense returns mostly intact. This includes the offensive coordinator position, which hasn't had much continuity recently. Of course the big loss was at QB so that will be key, particularly in the first few games. If that position can gel before the conference schedule starts, anything can happen.
I posted this last year but will post again. Rommel Hightower is an outstanding running back. He is only a SO. If he stays healthy and continues to improve, he will be a force in the conference. With most of the O line back from last year, this could be a breakout year for him.
