Wasn't "fruit loop" what they called the little loop of cloth across the back of the shirt?

;)

I think the only topic that grown men can have an intelligent conversation about is cereal.  It's sad...But it's true!!!

I don't remember it being called that, but I do remember girls would sneak up behind you and pull them out when I was in HS.  I guess it was a status thing to see how many you could collect.  Sounds dumb, I know, but pretty tame compared to some of the things I hear about now.  :)

To bring us out of the cereal debate and back into a football debate, I have a question about colleges and college football, is it possible for colleges/universities to have a "character" requirement for addmission?

With all the problems of a few players in the NFL right now, there has to be a way to screen those players.  It not only looks bad for the professional team, but it looks bad for the college/university as well. Or maybe these problems start at the college level and are just brushed aside, not to specifically point out a unversity but a president had to step down in the mid-west because of a murder cover-up.

When Dean Smith was at UNC he would not offer a scholarship to anyone who had been in any kind of serious trouble.  Allen Iverson really wanted to be a tarheel but Smith would not offer him a scholarship because he had been arrested while in hs.

Yea.....that's right Papi and Dean Smith was the only guy that could hold Michael Jorden to 20.............

haha  :).  That is a good one. It is true though Coach Smith didn't want any of his players to score more than 20 pts for that matter.

unc also revoked jameson curry's scholarship offer...he ended up a ok state, i believe, and had a pretty nice/incident free college career

schools can conduct background checks on their students...some do now, and i suspect many more will in the near future as a way to attempt to prevent another VT situation (although, from what i understand, a background check wouldn't have prevented that situation as that dude had no criminal background) - i would think there would be a little "cya" (figure it out) involved, too...if something happened to one of my kids on a college campus and i later found out that the perp. had a criminal background, but was still admitted...well...let's just say i'd be able to endow a pretty nice scholarship at mu :)

ok...gone for a few days...time to catch up.

the loop on the shirt was called a fruit loop...and i remember getting in trouble b/c i would go home with torn shirts from girls pulling on my loop.  ;D

Coach Dean Smith didn't offer Iverson a scholarship 'cuz Iverson never  graduated from hs. He spent his senior year of hs in the Newport News City Farm correctional facility. He "graduated" while there with the help of the wife of former Eagles backup QB Lambiotte.

So you were quite the ladies man back in the day.  ;)

We didn't have any "fruit looping" going on.  We would take clothes pins and see how many we could get on someone (shirt) before they realized anything had happened.  No offense to the big DT types but they were always the easiest.  I always had help (by another DT actually), I was never the instigator.  ;)

Hahahaha!!! That's great. We called them a little something different when I was a kid, but I think I like your term better.

My mom got soooooo pissed at me over my town shirts, too.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

haha....i remember my mom being so ticked at my torn shirt...big hole in the back....she took away my Quisp cereal for a week!!!

;D ;D ;D
