I can't make prediction in week 1.  GC doesn't play.  What I heard for week 2 was UNCP "is expecting 8500 fans" that Saturday.  I heard they have enough seating for a 1/3 of that.  The new complex is supposed to be nice, but they ran out of money to put enough bleachers in for all the fans.  That is just what I heard from someone I know from the area.

must be embarrassing to have a kicker knock the crap out of you...that'd be kinda like having papi outrun you :)

abnrgr - i think the team just reported on sunday, so i doubt they're doing enough to really know how they look

week 1 - monarchs vs. quackers....i'm gonna hold off a bit until i hear some camp reports

HEY...HEY...HEY.... that's a low blow!! :o I was a 6' 220# kicker with a 300+ pound BP that liked to eat little KO return guys and the pork rind they were carrying for snack time.  :D

allsky7- 3AM post!  :o  :)

So are there any new words out of camp? I just know 85 guys showed up to camp at GC.  After that, I really don't know much, and I don't mind not knowing much. I want the anticipation to grow and grow until game day.  I know the guys are working hard and getting ready for the season. I really don't mind not knowing anything after that. Although I wondering what we team we are going to scrimmage with this year, I know we have always traveled, it would be nice if they stayed closer this year.  I might head over to the scrimmage.

Hey CNU85 - nice logo, but didn't Christopher Newport have a hook for his left hand?

I am really suprised that Diageo or Burger King hasn't come after CNU because of thier mascot.

Captain Morgan (Thank you Diageo)

The King(Thank you Burger King)

CNU Captain

If anyone has seen the captain in person, there are strong similarities among the 3.  I like it though, I don't really think there is anything wrong with the mascot, I just thought it was funny to point it out.  If anything, I believe The King came after CNU's mascot.

Nice logo though, big improvement and very professional.

Not as embarrassing as getting you butt kicked by the water girl from the other team.

true...did this happen to someone you know?

being an afficianado of sports logos (and someone who has dabbled in sports logo design), i'll reserve judgement on the new cnu logo until i see a higher resolution image, but my first thought was "meh" - it appears to be more illustration than logo...there is SO MUCH that could be done from an imagery standpoint with the name captains - a really good logo should be iconic and strong...i don't get that from this logo - i would have thought that a school with such a big-time athletic program would seek a professional designer with previous collegiate athletic branding experience

is that 85 total or 85 new?  if it's 85 total that's a LOW number around these parts - i think every usasac team is working with 100+, and honestly, i think you've got to have big numbers to be competetive in this conference and d3 football in general...

I believe that is 85 total, the greensboro website has been down all day (well slow) the numbers came off of there.  Having 85 total i really don't think is all that uncommon for Greensboro that makes up about 10% of the schools enrollment numbers (using d3football.com) I think that is aligns well with the rest of the conference considering the size of the schools in the USASouth. IMO

I agree NArch....my initial reaction was.....ok.....maybe it'll grow on me....I think I need to see center court of the Freeman center to appreciate it....and you all know how I feel about the mascot that walks around at games!!

The kid from Cinci sounds like a monster.  I knew you guys would reload, but man...

We'll see how it plays out once the season kicks off.....you never know if there is a reason after spring drills and a coaching change that half the scholarship was yanked

At the professional level I might agree for it to be strong as you said, but from the college standpoint, I think it should be simple and clear.  Now I am not saying a incoming freshman is going to decide on a school based on a mascot (you never know though), I am saying the admissions office needs to be able to wear something that not only represents the school but doesn't over power power the potential student.  Something anybody could walk around and anybody could notice,  the words need to be clear and the logo not overpowering.  I think CNU's logo matches well with what i expect out of a college logo. (It does remind me of the Colonial Penn Insurance logo, not sure why, but it does.)

Keep in mind, that's 20% of your male enrolment.
