Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

My thoughts on the game.

CNU entered the game with question marks at RB, WR, LBs, and secondary. Both lines were set and the QB was coming off a good year.

WR Jesse Bradshaw had a tremendous game...I'll save all the stats for later. He was catching just about everything thrown his way. Also, he was an emotional leader...fun to watch.

LBs were ok....still need time to gel. Adrin Diggs came on strong towards the end.

QB - Faison had decent stats. More importantly he played very smart, very intelligent. He played a mentally good game....a la Brad Johnson....nothing dumb. The one INT was a deflected ball.

S - Matt Long....another game like today and he can wear a T-shirt that says Justin Who? in reference to his older brother, now CNU coach.

Interesting observation....RB Evan Taylor was playing cornerback in second half....O-lineman Wagner was playing D line in second half.

Finally 330 lb Julius Macklin...ran down Rankin on one play....ran him down, caught him and tackled him.....nice!!

Hit of the day......punt return (maybe a kick return).....Nathan Williams was jacked up by a Rowan blocker....Madden would have called it a "snot bubbler". NAthan was ok after a play or two...he had a strong game.
While one game doesn't answer all of the questions for an entire season, this game went a LONG way in helping the coaches evaluate the talent and leadership they have on the field.

So was this your first radio gig? Was it on the web?  I might have tuned in.  I was listening to the Rowan radio feed. My best times in school were doing games on the college radio station.  Now I'm just an old alumn.  I'm gonna do d3 baseball and football again... somehow... someway.

yep...my first gig and it was on the web. It was fun....kinda nervous, stumbled sometimes.....the regular guy comes back next week. I was asked on Wednesday to fill in.....and thank you for your wonderful web site, I used a lot of your resources when I was preparing and studying for the game.

CNU85,

I saw you on the ASC board a couple of weeks ago inquiring as to what to do in Central  Texas the Friday evening prior to the UMHB - CNU game. Copperas Cove (about 30 miles due west of Belton) will be playing at home. They are currently the number one ranked team in class 4A (5A being the largest classification in Tx).

Cove is also the alma mater of current UMHB quarterback Josh Welch. Copperas Cove made it to the state championship game last year but lost to a team from San Antonio. It might be worth your while to take in the game.

To get to Cove you go west on Hwy 190. It will take you right into Cove. The stadium is only a few blocks off of 190 on the left - you will be able to see the lights.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a great time in Texas.

Wonder what kind of crowd traveled with NCW today?  Wesley radio cast had it as standing room crowd.. NCW played a good game at Wesley today. Two fumbles inside the ten made it a little closer than it should have been but NCW took it to wesley early.

How bad Townsend was hurt? Broadcasters said he was limping noticably after he reentered latre in the game. With Townsend ,Bush and Webb NCW has some good weapons

Congrats to CNU for knocking off the "perpetually overrated because they're in the East Region" Rowan Profs.  And good job by NCW, Wesley is tough tough tough.

My congratulations as well to CNU for a very nice win against a ranked team and to NCWC for hanging tough on the road against a very respected opponent.  Nice job!

PrideSportBBallGuy

Coming to you live from OH.  Good job CNU.  I will tell you one thing it is a whole different level of football up here,  I am talking about high school and college football. Before the MSJ and Wilmington(OH) game started I thought CNU might have been overratted in the preseason poll.  (Don't forget I still think CNU is the team to beat, and they proved that yesterday) The only thing that changed during the MSJ game was I thought MSJ did deserve votes for the poll.  This team could be dangerous in thier conference, as the fans mentioned, "we can pass the ball now" 31-19 final. Solid team, solid program, and solid fans.

Independence is now 109-1, yes Elder did beat them in OT.  That was an incredible game. Well worth the trip up here.  I will probably head to the St. Xavier-DeMatha game today.  Matchup of the #4 and #5 teams in high school poll.

Hey Pat,

In previous scoreboards you had the games with top 25 teams listed at the top. Tht didn't happen this week. Can you bring it back. It helps show the upsets and also makes me aware of how well some teams are playing when yhey are not in the top 25......I'm not sure all that made sense....but you know what I mean.....

I need some breakfast.....lunch?

Congrats to CNU on their victory yesterday and I also want to say congrats to Mount Union.

For those of you that have never experienced playing them, I want to tell you that are a first class organization; from the players (Great Sportsmanship), fans and coaches, especially the head coach. He is a first class act.  I thought one time they were going to have to send out for another score board.

I also believe the Averett coach (Mike Dunley and his staff) is first class as well and I am sure he will have the team in front of the projector tonight and reviewing every play, evey mistake and every good thing (there were a few bright spots) and he will get this team back on track. I knew they were young, but didn't realize how young until yesterday. They will bounce back and cause problems for some teams this year.

Kickerdad,

You're right in that the coach at AU will make some adjustments and that AU will have better days this year. I'm no longer a coach of young people, but I would think, and hope and pray, after 52 points in the first quarter that the AU coach does not make those kids sit and watch every play. Sometimes there is nothing to learn from something like that. Every coach is different, but I would put that game behind as far as the technical x's and o's and focus on my team psyche right now!

Guys the season started yesterday, let's get some chatter going about the games.
NCWC proved to be their worst enemy. They should have taken Wesley. I was
there and I'll tell the rest of USASAC WATCHOUT!!!!!!! They will be good GOD willing.
So let's here something whether you won or lost. Don't let a couple of guys dominate
the board. NCWC has Widener coming up next. If you're in Rocky Mount Saturday
check it out,it should be a wild one. SEE YA!!!!
