What did you see today
97 points, 900+ yards of offense, one of the most entertaining college football games i've ever attended and a GREAT qb...

monarchs lose 50-47...if i remember correctly from the post-game show, vogelbach went 40-60 for 414, 4 td's and 2 int's - mike hill ran 33 times for 184 and 4 scores - the monarchs missed 2 xp's and one 2 point conversion...

on  the first drive of the game, mike hill took 2 plays to put the ball into the endzone, but the xp went into an ol's backside...guilford answered to go up 7-6 and then the monarchs put 2 td's and stopped guilford to go up 20-7...then #16 went to work...before it was all said and done, he had guilford up 36-26 at the half - he went 25-35 with 282 yards in the first half

the monarchs made things exciting and made some nice defensive adjustments at half-time (i wish they had made those adjustments in the 2nd quarter...would've been a different ball game, i think) and got some  big plays in the passing/return game - i thought gcq had clearly iced it when they got a score to go up 10 with about 1:30 left, but mularski returned the opening kickoff to the gcq 20, or so, and the monarchs punched it in and got the xp (the frosh kicker in the 2nd half, morales, looked pretty good) to go down 3 with a little over a minute to play and 2 to's - the quakers ran for 2 yards, monarch to - then, inexplicably/incredibly/against-all-odds, the quakers passed the ball on 2nd down......unfortunately, it was complete, and pretty much iced the game - there is no way gcq would have run for a first down against the monarch defense in that situation, and mu would have got the ball with about 35 seconds left and a CHANCE...

vogelbach is amazing...he puts the ball EXACTLY where it needs to be and delivers it with just the right touch...very aware in the pocket and very poised...mu WILL NOT see a team with a qb anywhere near as good as him for the rest of the year, period - the young db's were not so good in the first half, and better in the second half, but overall i think they'll be alright as they mature...they got better as the game wore on, and the monarch coaching staff seemed to be more comfortable with allowing them to play tight

AdmiralPapi

Sounds like it was a great game to watch even if the Monarchs didn't come out on top.  How did MU's QB look narch?
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

brandon parks had a really nice game, going 11-18 for 194, 2 td's and 1 int - he made a few nice runs, as well...missed a couple of reads where guys were open, but he'll get better and he'll start to see more of the field as the season progresses - the monarch receivers looked really good - doleman got behind the defender on a couple of occassions, mularski looked really good returning kicks and is a nasty blocker on the edge and frosh brian hopkins caught everything thrown his way, including a spectacular catch on 3rd down that kept a drive going for a td and also caught his first collegiate td...he could be a really nice find for the monarchs

crowd was very good, the pig-picking tailgate was AWESOME, the pep band sounded great, the cheerleaders and monarch maniachs did their thing and the stadium was in the best shape i've ever seen it...other than no monarch "w" and missing out on talking to hasanova, it was a PERFECT day of college football

AdmiralPapi

Certainly seems like the offense will be able to put some points on the board this year.

Keep the bow in the wind (I think) with Gabirille (sp). In other words if somebody goes out........... leave em. They were told
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

UNCP 26 GC 20, outside one big running play the defense looked solid for GC. Two blocked punts for GC in the game, not sure if that is something to look for out of GC or not this year. Offense was able to move the ball at times, but just not enough at the end.  I think they are better than last year. Narch if GC's defense played the way they did today, they will not lose to Gallaudet.

The NCWC game turned out exactly how I thought it would.  E&H also like Widener has a whole two weeks to prepare for NCWC. For those that are still thinking that NCWC will still win the conference, well they still can, but in my mind they are looking at best now 7-3 (the trip to CNU is another loss)

welcome aboard old ref!

a short preview of the quakers/monarchs from the fayetteville observer

my prediction for today...lots of balls thrown in the air by #16...hopefully some of them end up in the hands of the guys with green jerseys and few end up in the end zone

this is a tall order for a very young secondary - the defensive front for the monarchs needs to cause havoc and the back needs to limit big plays and make tackles - on offense, the monarchs need to hold the ball and keep the quakers from having a short field - should be a fun game to watch

go monarchs!

p.s. - 'nova, i'll be looking for you at the game...
Thanks, Narch.  I left home about 10:20 am.  I was there - sorry I missed you!  See my report on the ODAC page - thanks for posting yours.

Big win for the Fighting Scots today. One I felt would set the tone for the season. Ok Scots, make me look good with my prediction.
Anyone see the game today? Not sure how good Centre is but a W on the road is always a good thing.

Based on what I saw today, if the Bishops continue to spot 17 points before they decide to play, I will have to agree with you. It is one thing to  struggle against a good team, but if you turn it over enough times, you are going to get beat. Don't get me wrong, Widener has a very good football team. I was impressed with their quarterback and especially their poise. At this time in the season, the Bishops are not consistant, especially with the play at the quarterback position. Unfortunately, I do not think the play  by a few represented senior maturity today.  As I said, you may be right, but I will say, if they get it together, they will be a tough bunch to defeat.
My congratulations to Widener, they deserved to win today.

Hello Forum I am new to the place and hope will continue the posting from here on in, But can any body can give me any thing on how the offense is run in Shenandoah?

CNU85,

I looked for you after the game.

Sorry (in a way ;)) the game did not turn out to be the game we expected.  I hope everyone arrives home safely and you guys pull it together for next week.  Enjoyed meeting you and visiting with Gray Fox.  I wish I could have gotten there a little earlier for a better visit.

Good luck the rest of the season.

PS:  Just curious, I have heard a lot about the fan turnout and support at ya'lls stadium.  How did Belton compare?
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Well, I'm back...not sold that the Panthers will win another game, but at least we got one today. Oh well we will see what happens...After the Appalachain State Michigan game, anything is possible.  Does that mean Ferrum could beat Bridgewater?  Doubt it,  but I will always be true to the Black and Gold

Go FC!!!!
BEWARE THE BLACK HATS!
