What an interesting weekend for the USASouth.

GC scores 48 points and by looking at thier history it was thier largest margin of victory, yeah it was Gallaudet, but GC needs to do that to teams like that.

Methodist gives Chowan thier first win in 18 games.  I know Narch won't like to here this first time they have given up 450+ yards in back to back games since 2003, MU went  4-5 that year.

Maryville is 3-0 as the website mentions first time since 1981. (would like to know how they finished up that year.)

NCWC may still win the conference, even though I don't think they will, with the 1-2 start, but the USASouth hasn't had a team since 2002 to get the AQ with a 1-2 start.  When CNU went as the AQ, they were smoked in the playoffs.

CNU is 1-2, still not worried the first time they did start 1-2 they were the AQ, the last time though they didn't win the conference.

Averett's history is short but the last time they scored less than 20 points in the first two games was thier first season, AU went 1-9.

SU 0-3 first time since 2002, SU finished 5-5 that year, the following year they finished 8-2

FC has started the season 1-2, 3 other times twice they finished 5-1 in the conference and last year they finished 2-7, take your pick.

The Pride asked and they shall receive. ::)

The 1981 team started 4-0 before losing four of last six finishing 5-4-1. Rhodes was the tie and Randoplh Macon the lone win after Sept ended. Losses to washington & Lee, Millsaps, DePauw, and West georgia.
The four game opening wins were Baptist, Hampden-Sydney, Bridgewater and Emory & Henry.
Don't know if there was a key injury that chnaged the season or not.

But the 4-0 start before that? The 1979 team that went 7-2 losing to Milsaps and Univ of Central Florida. Starting senior linebacker for that team, current head coach Tony Ierulli.

Huntingdon looked very good. They had some discipline issues with needless penalties and quarterback Golson did not look like a 3-year starter over throwing guys and his receivers dropped five passes. Still they had the game until the fourth quarter. BTW Since this series started, the team leading at the start of the 4th qtr has lost every time.

Maryville still growing up but Wall channeled Price in the fourth and made the plays by arm or leg to get the two scores and was deadly in the overtime. Demetrius Christian, freshman from Fla., reminds of a certain CNU player who is finishing his degree this year, not as versatile but just the way he plays defense. Interception at 1 and bat down in the end zone during OT were big plays by this young man today.

And last note. Five or six of the new screening pines at the far end zone, cut down with an axe Thur. night. They were propped back up against the fence by the college and the cherry picker parked in front of them to discourage anyone - who if they did would almost be waving a flag saying 'I did it!' - from parking and tailgating in the field.

Thanks, bard.

It sounds like Golson had a bad day.  I saw him at Huntingdon 2 weeks ago, and he was hot vs. McMurry.

At Chowan in OT!! That field plus the ride home from the middle of "Deliverence" must have been salt in the wound. Sorry boys.
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

ABN...I bet that was one long ride back to the 'Nam.  Seems like the offense is there for the Monarchs but the defense has got to improve drastically or it might be a long season for the boys in green.
Any fool can circumnavigate the world sober...it takes a real sailor to do it drunk!!!

Hey Pridesport..........."CNU will probably blow them out. I guarantee a win by at least 10 points".  ;D CNUis very good, but I've learned nothng is guaranteed.

It turns out my guarantee was wishful thinking.  I was hoping someone would bring that up, I was going to use it as a transition to my next point.

Who is going to win the conference? I really think it is quite open right now.  I understand some of the favorites have played some better competition, but some of thier performances have been less than stellar.  I don't know how a team can have 4 TO's and only score 20 pts (NCWC)  Thier offense has been thier focal point and the last two weeks haven't gotten it done, by putting points on the board.  CNU's defense 400 rushing yards is outrageous, 387 the week before that.  I don't know in thier history, although short has ever had a defense that bad.

Maryville is the only 3-0 team, are they in the driver's seat to win the conference?

Ralph Turner

I want Maryville to win the USA South, so they can come to Belton for a football playoff game against UMHB and the ASC.  ;D :D :D :D

NCW had a tough one yesterday, the offense is still not on point; but
now they're in conference and going to Fayetville next to play MU and
they always come hard . MU recruits Florida very well. Let's see what
Floridian surprises they have for us this year. CNU85, I wish I could say
the conference was good for what ails us, but it looks like it may be a
balanced year. BallGuy, even if these kids won the USASAC you wouldn't
give NCWC their props!!! You would be predicting a first round playoff loss.
So when they win week to week show some love!! As final note the defense
came to play Coach Ginn's bend but don't break style of defense.

Unless someone starts clicking, I predict the USA south AQ will get bounced hard in round 1.

The odds are either way, the USASouth will be 1 and done in round 1, only a 2-7 record in the playoffs.

PridesportBBallguy you hit the nail right on the head!!! I not trying to kick the kids when they are down but damn you have to have more PRIDE then that especially at home. 35 points at home is the 2nd largest total since the 44 pts given up by the 05 defense to Salisbury. But to the 05 d defense that team bolstered a pissed off Dustin Johnson and a bruising Satchell. Its gut check time and the new Def Cordinator and his defense needs to get it together. CNU's defense has been the back bone of our program for years and I don't ever recall us putting together back to back defensive efforts like that.

Its conference time guys lets get the Ship upright and win the conference outright.

Highlander

Just wanted to say congrats to the Fighting Scots for starting 3-0. Now is the time to continue to work hard and keep improving on the things that has gotten you to this point. Everyone from here on out will all be tough games. Good luck during your conference games. Never forget that hard work and persistence is what being a "Fighting Scot" is about.
