I cant belive we are now 2-0 in the conference. Pretty soon you other guys are going to have to start giving Ferrum some respect.
i was thinking the same thing as i was reading some of the comments...ferrum scares the heck out of me, but i wonder how in the world they lost 50-7 to ehc - ehc could have played 3 games against a mu defense that has looked...how should i put this....less than stellar....and they would not have scored 50 points - ehc was very unimpressive offensively yet somehow managed to score 50 on ferrum...puzzling - i've got to think that game was simply a blip for the panthers and that they've made nice adjustments since game #1 - do keep in mind, however, that they're 2-0 against su and au...2 teams that i might predict to be winless this season if they weren't playing each other

Part of the Panthers' turnaround can be seen in their first string: Out of the 11 defensive starters they had in that first game against E&H, only six of them started last week against Averett. Obviously there have been some changes made, especially among the defensive secondary.

SU and AU aren't mind-blowing wins for Ferrum, but I'm happy that they're winning the games like those that they should. Ferrum's not going to compete for the conference title, and they might not even hit .500 this year, but even one more win would be a marked improvement over last season for a team that is as young as Ferrum is.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Black Panthers

I'm really looking forward to this weekend's game. I'm not going to make any prediction as to who will win but I do believe that the game will be a close one. Myself I think the Panthers will get 4 wins in the USAC. Anything more of course will be just extra icing on the cake.

I read, that link to what that newspaper guy wrote about SU's team. Its sad that he pretty much admits that SU cares more about getting the players money than it care about putting a decent team on the field. A college can have both a strong presence in the community and a strong team on the field. Why does it need to cheapen one for the other? I know SU's reputation is being a strong music school. I cannot imagine the college keeping a piano teacher if that teacher was not teaching them the proper skills. Even if she was a person that was involved in areas outside the college. The newspaper guy was also wrong by saying no one should ever say its time to get rid of a coach. If SU cannot win any conference games or any games really why have a program? It looks like after reading the article that SU has made it clear that they want a full roster and that's what they care about. Just " SHOW ME THE MONEY!" is what they are saying. But pretty soon the reputation of not caring to win is going to catch up to them, and they will have a hard time filling the roster. Not to mention the seats in the stands. That's my two cents for the day.

Black Panthers

Im just wondering . Am I the only panther fan in here? Who cheers for what school and what school is the most represented in here? So far it looks like CNU from the short time I have been here. Am I wrong?

BP.....I AM a Panther fan but as you know (if you read the ODAC board today) that I have divided loyalty. I am pulling for FC in every game this year except for one. And uh....just so happens to be this weekend!!  ;) GO SCOTS!!

Black Panthers -- feel free to get some of your friends introduced to the board. Just make sure they know not to bail after a loss.

Black Panthers

Belive me I would love to get some others to join in order for the Panthers to take over this site ;). But unfortunately for me the ones that would like to join are football players themselves like my roommate is and they are not allowed to write anything on this site.

Pat Coleman

Maybe those other players have roommates also. :)

Just wanted to throw out there the final results of the can food drive from the Souper Bowl:

Greensboro 4,321
Guilford 3,967 (not as high this year, no more matching can for can)

Congrats to both schools on participating to such a good cause.

Using d3football numbers for enrollment:

4.88 cans per student at Greensboro
2.67 cans per student at Guilford.

I think this is how they should determine the cans across the conference competition, cans per student.

All you have to do is look underneath my screen name to see that I wear my Ferrum loyalty on my sleeve -- though, of course, that doesn't mean I have tunnel vision when it comes to the team.

As allsky7 mentioned, he's an FC fan. We also have Allen C floating around here, though he hasn't posted as much this season as in past years. Back during Ferrum's '05 playoff season, there were at least a couple of bandwagon fans who disappeared after Round 1....yeah, big surprise, I know.

Amen to that. Its sad but its true. SU should had just fielded a club team like George Mason Un. has if this is what they are happy with. It would had been less expensive by far in the long run.

Wow, if it did come down to Oct 27 deciding the 1-2-3-4 betwen CNU-NCW and MC-MU then that would make the preview prediction look pretty good ;D

Since its way off topic it wont stop me from noting that methodist softball will be in Knoxville to play the Lady Vols in fall ball at the newly opened $7m complex. Methodist will be  one of the first teams to get to play on the new field and experience the luxury of that place and not even have to deal with Monica Abbott - bonus.

Any of the Ferrum crowd  on the board coming to town for the game?

Can you repost the link? I'm too stupid to find it after scrolling back a few pages.

Uncle J....get some sleep....your grammar is slipping and Narch and Hasa are drooling....you'll be ok - I love your passion for the Hornets.

Also - I recently heard extremely nice comments about Barnes from a CNU parent. Seems like Barnes is a top notch person - that should/could account for something.

yeah, I know. I was just passing along something positive. It's always nice to hear good things.

Congrats to NCWC for the thumping they gave the Scots this past Sat. They are skilled, fast, and well coached. The Scots still have lots of football to play before the Fat lady sings. I have know doubt that the team will respond. They need to continue to work hard and good things will come. This alum is extremely proud of the way they have played and most importantly represented the college.
