Shenandoah breaks out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter!

Actually 14-0!

The scoreboard on the front page received the wrong information.

Box score from Methodist game is confusing. It shows this at the end of teh 1st half:

M 3-3  F33   Timeout Methodist, clock 00:27.
M 3-3  F33   PARKS,Brandon pass complete to HOPKINS,Brian for 4 yards to the FC29, 1ST                DOWN MU (GOODE, Maureik).
M 1-10 F29   1st and 10.
M 1-10 F29   PARKS,Brandon pass incomplete to HOPKINS,Brian.
M 2-10 F29   PARKS,Brandon pass incomplete to MULARSKI,J. (BROWN, Zack).
M 3-10 F29   MULARSKI,J. sacked for loss of 3 yards to the FC32 (ROBINSON, Osric),
PENALTY MU delay of game 7 yards to the FC36, NO PLAY.
M 3-17 F36   Timeout Ferrum, clock 00:01.
M 3-17 F36   MIRALLES,Mario field goal attempt from 53 MISSED - short, spot at MU37,               clock 00:00.

Was the delay before the sack?  If not how could there have even been enough time left after the sack to get a delay?  Why would Ferrum call timeout with only 1 sec left?

Congrats SU...Uncle J and SU97 are smiling tonight!!

BatteredBard...very nice meeting you today. I'm glad you were able to swing by the tailgate. That must be a long drive (how many hours is it?). Get some rest tonight!

Oh...I read the preview for today's game...nicely done. I look forward to reading the other stories you left.

Congrats to SU.!. maybe this weeks episode had a positive effect after all. :)

WOW!!!! SU scored 33 points. NCWC better get ready for that Wing-T.
Blew my prediction. Well, the Bishops had a good game against AU today, but
the O-Line is still not as crisp as it should be. Still too many turnovers for
a championship team. I felt coach left the starters in too long. Who am I ?
JUST A FAN!! GO BISHOPS!!!! The Blue & Gold can't look past SU . CNU in
2weeks.

I took the idea from Matt on the ODAC board. Here are some comments with the sole purpose of generating discussion.

CNU (4-2, 3-0) – CNU is starting to roll, as I predicted in the pre-season newspaper article. (Side note...if I remember correctly I predicted back in August CNU would beat MC 27-13 – lucky me!!). CNU has 3 road games remaining (MU, AU, FC) and the lone home game is against NCW. Although CNU is 20-1 in home conference games, with a 20 game winning streak, the Bishops have the type of offense that has given CNU a tough time earlier in the year. Although NCW is nowhere near the caliber of UMHB. CNU could run the table and finish 7-0 in the conference. However, in the past we've seen a "how'd that happen" type game. 5-2 is not out of the question if they don't stay focused.

NCW (4-2, 3-0) – Similar to CNU,  tough non conference games have helped prepare for the much weaker conference schedule. Home games remaining are against SU and FC. SU put up unexpected points yesterday. FC is raising some eyebrows. They could cause some trouble before the season is over. NCW road games are CNU and GC. As with CNU, NCW could run the table or go as low as 5-2.

FC (4-3, 3-1) – an OT loss to MC is the only conference blemish. A bye week this week is going to help prepare for the final 3 game stretch. A home game against a poor GC team is followed by a road trip to NCW and a season finale at home vs CNU. A 4-3 record is probable, but don't count them out. 5-2 isn't out of the question, although 6-1 probably isn't going to happen. Everyone is talking about the NCW/CNU game in 2 weeks – perhaps the FC/MC and FC/CNU games will be just as important!

Maryville (5-2, 2-2) – Most likely, yesterday's loss puts them out of contention for the title. But maybe not. The top 4 teams (CNU, NCW, FC and MC) are packed together. Anything can happen. MC has a week off. They should come back and win the rest against the weaker part of the conference (MU, SU, and AU). MU has the best chance of coming away with a win. MC should finish 5-2, although 4-3 is a possibility if they lose focus for a game.

Methodist (1-5, 1-2) – Only win was against lowly AU. Games remaining are at home vs CNU, where MU won the last meeting, at MC, at GC and home vs SU. This part of the conference is hard to figure out. Especially given the issues at SU and what they did yesterday. MU should win more than 1 conference game, and probably will. I predict they finish 3-4 with a 2 game win streak to compete the season.

Shenandoah (1-5, 1-2) – If I had written this Friday night, I would have had these guys last in the write-up. Things are too unpredictable. However, a taste of victory and changes made this past week, who knows? They could finish 3-4, but most likely will be 2-5 with a win over AU and losses to MC, NCW, and MU.

Greensboro (1-5, 0-3)– Not sure what to think after last night. They will lose the final 3 games (FC, MU, NCW). It's the next game at AU that is hard to predict. They end up either 1-6 or 0-7.

Averett (0-6, 0-3) – WOW! I thought they were much better than this, even with all the lost players. GC, SU, CNU, and MC complete the schedule. On paper, they could win 2 of the 4 remaining games. But, AU has not been playing on paper this year. Anywhere from 2-5 to 0-7 is likely.

Narch...something to ponder.....

My pre-season predictions have been very close with the exception of the Salisbury game. I predicted CNU to beat Rowan, lose by almost the margin they did to UMHB, beat SU 38-0 (final was 42-0), beat GC by 34 (we won by 31), and I had the Maryville game either exactly right at 27-13 or I might have predicted it 27-14 (can't remember).

Either way, my predictions are scary good. My prediction in August for this week against you guys.....CNU wins 14-13.....with stopping Mike Hill being the key to the CNU win. so, tell everyone it'll be a great game, a nail biter, and they should all go!!

Great Post 85. I thought Maryville gave themselves a chance to do the unthinkable yesterday from the way it sounded. CNU is a tough team to beat, even tougher to beat at home. Maryville had their shots in the second half and just could not get CNU's defense to break. Proud to see Maryville be competitive in a game that had serious conference ramifications. I believe they will get back to work, and attempt to finish the season strong with hopefully an 8-2 record.

If I remember correctly (correct me if I am wrong) your QB is a sophomore? He showed poise, didn't panic. Even when knocked out of the game for a play, he came back in. He did well against a tough team in a tough place. And if he is a SO, then it was his first trip to POMOCO - even more impressive. His stats weren't fantastic, but he played a nice game. He seems comfortable, in control, and smart.

85, Maryville's QB is just a Soph who was making just his seventh career start. I believe he has a way of managing the game. Also, does a good job of not doing things that get you beat. I am extremely proud of the way Maryville's program has been progressing over the last few years.
