I really liked your team breakdown post 85.  Yesterday's game was a great game MVC had their chances in the second half, but the most important thing I took from this game is they kept it competitive the whole game in a big game situation.  They have had a few games with conference implecations over the past few years and they were either beat pretty badly or were playing catch up from way behind and made the score look closer in the end.   This game wasn't the case.  They played tough the entire game and held nothing back.  Coach Ierulli had the team ready to play.  Your one possible trap game you mentioned, Methodist, I don't think it will happen for one reason.  It is their homecoming game and they will be wanting to put a good showing on.  Since Wall is a SO, it will be interesting to see how far he progresses in the years to come.  Go Scots!!

I had to wipe the dust off the "w" key on my laptop to type this... It's been a year - but finally a WIN for the hornets!

Not in last place...  feeling good. 8)

Offense finally came alive, very surprised after the week SU has had leading up...  Good for the kids who haven't quit.  I realize that one win against a fellow 1-5 team isn't anything to start up "championship" talk, but hey, when you haven't seen a win in 10 games...   Go Hornets!

Great...  NCWC next week.   :(

Basketball starts tomorrow!  FINALLY!   ;D

Congrats to SU.

Damn, We need a W now.

ProudFightingScot

They couldn't hold the Hornets down forever SU.  Good to see them bounce back after the tough week the team had.

Congrats to NCWC. There for a quarter and 1/2 I thought Averett may make a game out of it. But then......................hell you know the story line here...........

Very impressed with NCWC's O & D line. Big and strong and they bring the lumber every play. Nr. 22 (running back) has a great sense for where the hole is going to be and where it isn't going to be. Only weakness I saw for NCWC was the QB and RB don't protect the ball as well as they should. They both are trying to make something happen and do a lot twisting and turning with the ball being carried like a loaf of bread. Making it very easy to knock out.

In my humble opinion NCWC may just be the top dog in the end. Haven't seen CNU play yet this year, but they could be in trouble against both NCWC and Ferrum. Both teams are stong and fast.

For all the NCWC fans that are on this board and were at the Averett game.

KEEP BLOWING THOSE HORNS AND RINGING THOSE BELLS. THAT'S WHAT FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT; CHEERING YOUR TEAM AND MAKING NOISE. Someone was out of line Saturday. It may be an NCAA rule about noise makers but it wasn't handled right. I thought my wife was going to get arrested for ringing a damn cow bell that was purhased from Averett's bookstore with Averett printed on it.

I don't understand what is wrong with the folks that make the rules but somewhere down the line people need to get back to basic's, common sense and enjoy good old fashing football. Next thing they will try to tell you is you have to sit perfectly still in your seat, no talking and raise your hand to go to the damn bathroom or get a drink.

None of these folks have been to a D1 game lately..............As long as everyone is having fun and no one is trying to be unsportsman about it what in the hell is a $3.00 air horn from WalMart or a 3 inch cow bell going to hurt. Especially after a score. I am waiting for them to tell Navy and Army they can't shoot off their cannons anymore.

Keep blowing those horns and ringing the bells.

Wonder if perhaps a statement was made by SU Sat?  ??? Congrats!!

Also, congrats to the Fighting Scots. I have never been big on moral victories but sounds like this might be an exception. You went into a very tough environment and gave a very good football team all they could handle. Hopefully, this is a sign that the Scots are ready to establish themselves as a top tier team in the USAC. Now just finish up 8 and 2 and let the rest of the chips fall where they may.  8)

As for Methodist being a trap game....I don't think so. After what happened to the Scots two years ago against the Monarchs for HC, it damn well better not be.  :o  If it does, we senior citizen Fighting Scots may have to storm the field, cut down some trees, or something!!  :D :D

ProudFightingScot

Also, if the Scots do run the table the rest of the way and go 8-2, they will be only the 5th team in school history to win 8 games.  That would be a MAJOR accomplishment.

Nr 22 is from right here in Newport News!!

Gotta take care of this week or the NCW/CNU game will be meaningless. CNU lost the last time we went to Methodist.....it gives me a funny tingle in my stomach thinking about it. MU knows they can beat CNU because they've done it!

Good luck this week 85. Methodist has a better team than their record indicates. If they can ever put all cyclinders in operation at one time, they will be one tough team to contend with (especially at home).

ProudFightingScot

I don't think CNU will have any trouble with them this week.  I just hope they aren't looking ahead to the NCWC game and get bitten by Meth.

Let's not get crazy here...  I think we are still trying to put together some fragments, maybe a noun or two.
